January 27, 2022This is a spin off of the Stark Trilogy and is written in the same vein. The connection between the two series is fantastic but I refuse to spoil it. Similar to Damien, Jackson Steele is a wealthy and powerful architect that gets what he wants. He is controlling and manipulative, but for a submissive those are all good attributes. Sometimes the line between good control and bad control aren’t clear, which makes relationships complicated.* He has a history of pushing Sylvia Brooks too far. Is he out to win her heart or just out to win control over her? Sylvia Brooks left Jackson once before, but will returning to his bed be too much for her. Beware, this book ends such that you’ll feel compelled to read the next. * This complication only relates to the adult relationship between Sylvia and Jackson. Sylvia’s childhood past includes being assaulted by an adult. Under no circumstances should an adult take such action on a minor child. This distinction is clear in the story as well.

Jackson is the type of man to say what he wants not caring about others opinions, "there's more," Jackson said, as he lifted a strawberry to my mouth. "But the more time I spend with you, the less interested I am in architecture, and the more interested I am in getting you naked." He's not one to handle having other men touch, talk or dance with his woman he gets jealousy and fierce and wanting to kick some a**, "not just yet?" Jackson growls. "Try not ever." He grabs my hand and yanks me to him with such force that I fall against him." There was one conversation Jackson and his girl had that I quite enjoyed the playfulness and easeness they had with each other:
He takes my hand, then kisses my palm. "And I channeled control into sex."
I lift a brow. "Did you? I hadn't noticed."
"I guess I'll have to try to be more obvious." He gently strokes the hand he still holds.
I was nervous that there would be a cliffhanger but I realized that not once have I read a Kenner book that has had one so I was pleased that it didn't, the story ends leaving room for more story.
ON MY KNEES:
Jackson may be an alpha male but he's caring and sweet at times, "and no one’s around. And we’re in the backseat of a car with tinted windows.” He lifts a shoulder . “But you’re still in control, baby. You want to stop, we stop. Anytime, no questions asked." He's really sexy and sometimes like to tell his woman of his plans, "in the interest of full disclosure,” Jackson says. “I should probably tell you that I have every intention of effing you awake tomorrow morning." I love this series I'm always excited for when another book comes out.
UNDER MY SKIN:
Jackson really is the bossy sort, “don’t wear them.” He meets my eyes. “When I think of you, I want to think of you bare. But do wear the necklace. From now on. Until I say otherwise.” Our boy has a lot to fight for in this book and boy dies he fight, his woman is his strength and when she's not around at times he realizes that without her he's nothing. I enjoy this series the books are always emotional and filled with great characters.

Emotional, powerful, super hot!
First let me put a disclaimer: This trilogy is filled with flashbacks of sexual assault and rape. If you are triggered by these things. This might not be the book for you. Again they are flashbacks, but they get a bit vivid.
This was such an emotionally charged story. You fall in love with Silvia in the original Stark trilogy books but that portion of her story and her abilities pales in comparison. Getting her full story is shocking and devastating. Jackson's story is just as riviting, but not as traumatic. Together they're proof of love healing even the deepest emotional and mental scars. This was an amazing love story!!

Loved it. Love, murder, and mystery.
I can't get enough of Kenner. Great love. Very empowering knowing we can over come life's challenges. This book really kept me at the edge of my seat.
