I had to read this as soon as I finished the previous one. By the end of it, I was wondering how Claire hadn't ended up having a breakdown. It made you keep reading to see what was happening to them, and I kept rooting for things to work out for them

Good book!
I love her books and this one was not bad. I'm glad I read it but at times it dragged on. I was surprised with the ending which is a good thing. So it got 4 stars just because of the points where it dragged

December 4, 2009Very sad book. It's well written and I enjoyed reading it despite the sadness of it. The thing I liked best about it was how all the different problems were in corporated and seemed to fit in perfectly.

Very good story but quite hard in places as it deals with child abuse.

This was the 2nd book of the story of Clair Nightingale. This one deals with the danger her adopted daughter Nikki gets into when coerced by a pedophile ring. Claire's sordid past comes out too . She finds her long lost father and makes peace with her sister and adoptive mother Molly. Although very sad and depressing at times this book has a happy ending. Despite its sordid story line is a very good read, as all Rosie Goodwin's books are. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Love Rosie Goodwin's book, I have just finished "Crying Shame". Excellent read.
Terrible to think that really does happen to young girls. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to endure this treatment
Thank you Rosie for writing it delicately, to let victims know that their is help if needed.

Continuity error
I looked forward to reading the follow up to our little secret but was surprised at the authors glaring error saying Cindy was attacked by a client. It was not a client it was a pimp looking for revenge who assaulted cindy. Put me off a bit that the author could make this mistake at early part of the book.

Brilliant, unputdownable book
First I've read by Rosie Goodwin, won't be the last. Great story that sucks you into the heartbreaking events that feel too plausible in today's society.

Such an awesome read, had to stay awake to read it through the night, it had me hooked, just as its predecessor did, was so sad when it ended, but not for long as the ending brought peace for Claire.

Absolutely gripping just like the first book, so much going on and brilliantly coming all together at the end. Can’t wait to read more of her books.

I am not sure if this book is a sequel or not but it certainly felt like there was a previous book whilst reading it, however, I enjoyed this book without reading that one so I would not say it was necessary.
The book focuses on Claire, a woman who was abused in childhood and has an adopted daughter that was also abused. As Claire tries to reconnect with her family, her daughter Nikki struggles to come to terms with what her dad did to her.
It is awful what happens to Nikki and to her friend Poppy as well and it's hard to believe that those kind of things to happen to children. The most frustrating part of the book was Claire's mothering skills in not noticing her daughter was hooked on coke and never taking a firm line with her. I didn't think Nikki's character could be blamed for her behaviour as she was just reacting to what had happened to her.
The one part of the book I didn't like and didn't find believable was Tracey's reaction to finding out that Claire was once a prostitute. Clearly this is a terrible thing to happen to anyone and she had no sympathy for her at all.
I'm glad that Claire and Nikki were both returning to some kind of normal life by the end and it looked like they would end up being happy eventually.
