Jason's psionic discovery sets the trailblazers on a superhuman developmental path, for now that he's broken through, albeit painfully, they are all eager to follow in his footsteps. Meanwhile, the lizard war expands to aquatic populations. And yes, that means fish people. Though 'mermaid' sounds a lot better.
Aer-ki Jyr is one of the top 20 science fiction authors on Amazon due to his extremely long and ongoing space opera epic STAR FORCE, one of the longest military science fiction series ever written.
I seldom read a series this long without taking a break with something else - often because I read faster than the books can be written. Lucky me.
This time, it's been straight through with no intervening literary interruptions.
The story continues on, focusing on different Trailblazers addressing different aspects of different campaigns. All separate, but all with the goal of strengthening the human race to stand against the Alien species that formerly controlled Earth (I'm not even going to try to remember the species name - the bad guys).
Book 8 of many...Overall I am enjoying the series but find it a bit tedious with detailed battle after battle. I get the idea that Star Force is in this for the very long haul (hundreds or thousands of years) fighting enemies, learning and growing, but knowing that there are many more books in the series feels like I'll be reading these for years in order to get to the orginal premise of defending ourselves against the super powerful aliens that once enslaved humans. ahh well, on to book 9 :-)
An entertaining read but grammatical and vocabulary hiccups make for a bumpy read. Aer-ki needs to hire a proofreader to catch errors like "pot marked" instead of "pockmarked;" " crewer" which isn't even a word in any dictionary or Wikipedia, instead of "crew" or "taught" for "taunt," for the tension on a rope. These glitches are laced throughout all of this series. I was an honors student in English in college so I can't help it.

A few slow spots (old habits). Mainly a good read. Can't put my finger on it but something technique is missing... Maybe a little more gor in this set of book then previous books.
Kind of curious if there are proof readers. Anyway the characters remain mostly steady with 'new skills' coming on board. The action changes up keeping things interesting. A new enemy added makes me curious to how the author is going to work it.
I've been slowly making my way through these books because I want to see what happens and I've gotten invested in some of the characters. This particular one was very heavy on battles, which isn't my favorite, but I get it's needed to move the story along. Will start the next one soon.
Good series! Lots of time I get bored or overloaded by a series. I enjoy this series. If you like science fiction especially those involving space as I do, then this series is for you
