Colleen is the companion novel to Melissa. I read both of these books many years ago and had almost completely forgotten the stories, so I probably should have read Melissa first just to refresh everything but I don't think that would have changed my opinion of the story.
I thought that while the story was cute, in so many ways it felt rushed and stilted. The adult characters seemed kind of immature, while Tiffany, a child, seemed mature for her age.
I enjoyed the story of forgiveness, of how the one character's family did it (really meaningful and sweet). Overall, I'm glad I reread this and will probably read Melissa again soon.
Such an excellent book. Lovely, lovely prose. I find so much in Colleen's character and demeanor to relate to - the celebration and pain of true artistry. This book has so much beauty in it, and the most beautiful thing is watching Colleen grow and mature and blossom into a true follower of The Way. I highly recommend it and its sister book, Melissa (which should be read first).
I have read this book several times, but it has been many years since I last read it. Was a favorite book from my young adult years. Of course, I was originally attracted to the book because of the title. This book has so many life lessons that it speaks to many people on different levels.
