Two little boys have a play date. Colorful collage illustrations (by James Yang) show them doing all the things that little boys do, all the while teaching opposite concepts, like hello, goodbye, nodding yes, nodding no (should be 'shaking no' though!), standing up, sitting down, put it on, take it off, build it up, knock it down, turn it off, turn it on, jumping high, crouching low, etc. Helps kids practice vocabulary, and the simple shapes and bright colors will attract very young kids. Adults can appreciate all the fanciful representations of toys and other things around the house (like doors and beds and lamps) that can be turned into games.

As a teacher I loved the repetitive action words for a toddler classroom. As a mom, the illustrations were not what I prefer and the age it was geared to was off for us. I couldn't tell just by the recommendation on here so when I placed the hold for it at our library I was expecting something else.

My son likes it because of the rhythm I think, but I find it really annoying to read!
