This book was such a surprising mix of dystopia and modern day realism, I was pleasantly surprised. While it does still feel like there are moments where the teenagers take things too much at face value, or are a little too calm in certain situations, the overall writing style and flow is engaging enough to ignore these small instances.
These characters are beautifully written, well flushed out and overall the plot is filled with so many different life lessons. I enjoyed the nostalgia it gave me while reading, and it is definitely one that I would have picked up as a young reader.
I love these characters. They are smart, resourceful and not afraid to speak their minds. They have lofty but idealistic goals this time. They have to learn patience and accepting a less than desired result. The island has new visitors. This is the third book in the series. It is amazing that the stories cover such a short time span. I liked the series and am sad to see it end. I admit I had a tear in my eyes when I got to the final page of the last chapter. Loved the epilogue. I did receive this book in exchange for an honest review.
WOW!! What a cool story of survival on non- habituated island way up near Iceland with fifteen year old chess players taking charge. I wish to recommend this for a five star rating and for those ages 9-18 especially so. I received this ebook for free and in return here now is my honest review. Super work Teri! By Angela
Just as the other two. I loved this book. Teri has a gift for describing things so perfect. You feel like you are right there with them. I have read several of her books and not found a bad one. Thanks for sharing this with me.
