Cute
A very quick read about a lion cub who asks lots of questions and is very inquisitive. Then suddenly, he’s given the best surprise he could wish for on his birthday.

No it doesn't normally take me a whole day to read a children's book unless I start to read it then get distracted by events that lead away from it. And only when I reopened GR did I see that I hadn't finished such an easy book. Shame on me!
Anyway this was definitely an interesting book to read and one that would seem like it would be straightforward that there really isn't much of a story. Instead the author Sheila is able to take the reader up and place her on the savannah with a lion cub who will remind many parents of their own curious children with questions ever-pouring forth from their mouth. And then of course there is that one ever-current question that cannot be answered with "Just because".
The reading is easy so that children who have learned to read will be able to continue to learn on this particular book. Although it is a bit wordy, illustrations are set throughout each set of pages so the reader has time to take a rest if they may need one.
Meanwhile the illustrations look like they were taken from coloring pages and colored then given backgrounds while a few seem to be repeats in their own knowledge. Although it is an interesting way of illustrating the book and the model cub used is adorable I am not quite sure if it I am a fan of the method since I was hoping to get to see a picture of her mother and possibly her together. Life goes on.
All in all this is a great little book and a quick read that can help parents answer questions about birthdays or maybe even be an introduction to the celebration of one's birthday....
