Unabashily biased dispatches from political scene on the cusp from the Sixties into the Seventies. History upclose and personal.

Depressing to realize that the big national issues haven't changed since the late '60s, but Von Hoffman is a pleasure to read (not as funny as I remember him from radio, though -- he's not going for humor here). I was a little taken aback by his apparent sympathy for what wasn't yet called the human potential movement, and by his cheerleading for employee stock ownership plans. It's a shame that there don't seem to be any other collections of his columns from the Post, the NY Observer or anywhere else.
