In the riveting third installment of The Wings of War series, Ember and her friends embark on an epic journey, where unlikely allies are forged and age-old beliefs crumble to dust. And just when Ember accepts love in her life, it’s ripped away from her in the most terrifying way possible.
"I loved joining Rose and Noah during their journey in the Temptation series by Karen Hopkins."-Katie McGarry, acclaimed YA author
Karen Ann Hopkins resides in northern Kentucky with her family on a farm that boasts a menagerie of horses, goats, sheep, peacocks, chickens, ducks, rabbits, pigs, dogs, and cats. Karen rescues and fosters a variety of pets and farm animals, but she also finds time to give riding lessons, coach a youth equestrian drill team, and of course, write. She was inspired to create her first book, Temptation, by the Amish community she lives in. The experiential knowledge she gained through her interactions with her neighbors drove her to create the story of the star-crossed lovers, Rose and Noah.
Karen grew up about a mile from Lake Ontario in Upstate New York. She was bitten by the horse bug at the age of five, and after diligently taking riding lessons for several years, she was rewarded with her first horse at the age of eleven. The feisty horse's name was Lady, a Quarter Horse-Thoroughbred cross, who became Karen's steadfast companion. Through the years, the constant force in her life was horses. Eventually, Karen found her place as a riding instructor herself. Before accepting her fate in the barnyard, she worked a short stint as a paralegal, traveled abroad, and guided tourists on horseback riding tours in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
Karen is currently working on her two interconnecting mystery/crime fiction series, Serenity's Plain Secrets and Possum Gap, along with several new projects.

Wow! That is all I can think right now. This book was amazing! This series is quickly winning over my heart. This book of the series continues with plenty of action and world-saving badassery.
My god, these characters will be the death of me. Seriously, I love them. We get to meet even more new characters in this book. We get to meet Growlers, a powerful water Watcher, dragons, the four horses of the apocalypse, and even the Devil himself. I wasn't sure of the water Watcher at first because it was hard to place her intentions. She was a no-nonsense kind of character though, which I always gravitate towards. I liked her in the end. The dragons were unexpected characters, but I loved their part of the story. I loved seeing more Growlers with a closer glimpse of them. I liked the portrayal of Samael in this. He was a snappy dresser and a smooth talker but clearly is more sinister underneath. Ember was still following her heart in this book. Ivan and Horas were still her faithful companions. Insepth had a lot of character growth. He is making amends for his past sins and is showing his loyalty to Ember. Sawyer was a little distant in this book. In the end, he does something that saved Ember and her friends from death but sacrifices himself in the process.
The plot gets so much better with this book. We get to see more of the big picture and the way that the pieces are starting to fall together. We are still left in the dark about many things, but what we have seen so far is so intriguing that it is easy to passionately anticipate the final book.
The romance in this book was not like the other books. Sawyer is distant throughout most of the book. Ember realizes that she truly loves Sawyer and they finally have some private time together. But Sawyer's uncertain fate at the end of this book throws the fate of their romance into question. And then there is the fact that Insepth and Ember have been getting closer.
Overall, this book really knocked things up a notch in the series. I love how much action and great plotting this series has. So much happened in this book that I am so eager to start book four! I recommend this book to all paranormal fans. This is such a fantastic series!
This book was just as great as the first two! Now Ember gets to meet a water Watcher and learn how to control that Element. She also gets to run into some Dragon's which I thought was pretty cool. I was getting a little worried about Sawyer... He started to seem kind of distant towards the middle of the book and I really wanted to know why.... Even Ember noticed it... When it finally came down to the end she realizes that Sawyer made a deal with someone and it is what causes his distance. Totally wasn't expecting that one and oh my God....... so NOT cool!!! I also thought it was real interesting that Ember was able to change Cricket into a human and become a shape shifter, I really wanted to know what the importance of that would be and it all made sense and the end..... The end..... I seriously thought this was the final book of this series.... So to come and find out it wasn't.... Man I was soooo not happy. It says that Karen is coming out with book four this Fall, so I am crossing my fingers!!!! This series needs the fourth book ASAP!!!
If you are a person of faith looking for books about Adonai’s angels, this is not that - at all. I did understand this was a fictional series, I did not understand it would have nothing to do with actual Kingdom Angels. At all.
Did not like any part of the series; series wasn’t at all what I expected it to be. If you are into occult/fantasy, you may appreciate the series; I escaped that, no interest in going back.
Bought the series; realized about half through Book 1 this was not the series I was looking = did not read the series, but Goodreads regularly says I’m reading books I haven’t started & only way to get it off my list is to say I’ve read them.
GOODREADS: PLEASE offer OPTION to CHANGE those books to “Not reading yet, OR just REMOVE them from actively reading - please. OR a setting that doesn’t automatically make it actively reading because you downloaded & took a LOOK at the book; if that setting exists I’ve not found it, but a “Get out of this” option should STILL BE OBVIOUS OPTION when it is accidentally triggered.
This book had a good plot and a good storyline but I was very angry and annoyed every time a old character from the first book appeared because they were humans, and they had no powers and were just getting in the way, however, the author decided to give them some kind of knowledge or power for them to fit in, for example with piper there was an angel. I hated how Preston showed up, he was a stubborn guy who had no idea what was even happening. The most annoying thing with him, is he happened to find some horn in the forest and blew it? if he didn't do that, the angels wouldn't have appeared, I believe he deserves punishment.
I do not understand why so many strong heroines are ruined by this perverted need to be wholly co-dependent on some guy. I find it incredibly disappointing because it sends the message that a woman can't be strong without a man and that isn't true. I'm still infatuated with the overall story line, eagerly anticipating how this plays out. It was a little confusing that the Biblical verses at the beginning of each chapter didn't necessarily have anything to do with what happened in each chapter, but I do like the touch. Look forward to seeing what happens next!
Another piece of brilliance by Karen. I'm not sure here my feelings are on the ending of this book. I'm torn between liking it and not liking it but nevertheless I enjoyed.
You won't be able to put this book down for a minute.
Tempest is the third book in the Wings of War Series, with Ember, who happens to be a very special watcher of angelic lineage. Her unique abilities and powers can be pulled from all four elements whenever she needs them to fight the coming apocalypse from happening with the help of her amazing friends, growlers, and other special souls, all of whom will grab on to a piece of your soul...just like they have mine. So much action you won't be able to set this one down for a minute. ...But... I am not happy at all with what happens to Sawyer in this book, and am hoping for a miracle. The last installment should be a nail biter!! And I am eagerly awaiting book four!!!!
Intense and full of tension. The lines of right and wrong are blurred. Absolutely amazing series. But be prepared to shed a few tears, especially the last few chapters!
This series is packed with Angels, Demons, Purgatory, magic, monsters, Watchers, Growlers, a hot forbidden romance, dragons, steamy moments, heart-breaking moments, action and adventure.
Looking forward to the next book, Eternity.
This series is perfect for paranormal romance readers.
Stink! I loved the first two books of this series. Couldn't put them down. I don't normally purchase books but I purchased book 2 and 3. Book 2 was worth the $. Book 3 sucked! So disappointed
