The Wrong Man

Rate this book
She loved him, but love wasn't enough

Rachelle should never have married Pete Standring. She'd known he was a Canadian oil prospector, but she hadn't realized it was his whole life.

Moreover, she hated oil-field living. So she left him to resume the budding career she'd had in London.

When she finally discovered she couldn't live without the man she loved--it was too late. If she'd lost him to Nancy Bigland it was her own fault!

Ridiculous!

A childish couple can’t resolve their differences without involving the secondary cast. They marry in haste, live happily for a year in London, before having to move to some remote and godforsaken place in Canada, where the H is involved in oil prospecting. The H works hard, the h gets bored and feels neglected. After a miscarriage, she flees home to London. The H follows.

Thus, the story begins.

The h comes to her mother’s house and finds out that a dearly beloved grandfather had to move into a senior home so she can sleep comfortably in his room. What? The H comes to the rescue! He sweeps the h and her grandfather into a rented flat, where the main couple has to pretend all is well in their marriage and share a room. The h freaks out and acts as though she had to sleep with a hostile stranger. She could teach blushing virgins how to blush.

The H has to return to Canada, the wife gets bored again, and follows him with her mother in tow. Not to reconcile with him; she simply doesn’t have anything else to do. In Canada, they have to pretend again that everything is great. The wife freaks out once more.

The wrong author is what I say! This is the third book I've checked out by Ms. Britt, and if I decide to read anymore (a big IF) I'll be checking out my theory that there are indeed female misogynists, as I'm convinced that she HATES women! She seems to take delight in making her h's as unappealing as possible, self-centered, spoiled, thinking the world owes them everything and they owe it (and other people) nothing, unless it suits some purpose of their own. I'm guessing Ms. Britt had issues with her mother, or else was the target of mean girls in school or maybe her BFF stabbed her in the back??? Whatever the case, she takes out her anger/unresolved issues by writing crappy h's who do NOT deserve a HEA!

Right from the start, she makes this h sound selfish, shallow and like an overgrown spoiled brat, and her mother doesn't come across any better. The H should thank his lucky stars she left him, but since they'll inevitably get back together, I decided I was NOT sticking around for that!
