I am a huge Matthew Eayre fan, have been following his FB page, Poetry of Monsters, for a couple of years now and it is by far one of my favourite pages.

I was so excited when my copy of Reaching For The Light arrived that I locked myself away and read it cover to cover in one night. I have just finished reading it for the second time, much slower so I could savour every word, and it has left me trying to sort through my own emotions and inner battles.

Matthew Eayre writes soul pulling poetry and prose, the kind that guts you when you read it, and sticks with you long after. Not many people can write as beautifully brutally as Matt can, he dominates the page with a spectacular force that is so unbelievably male, alpha even, but unafraid to show what he perceives as his weaknesses.

Reaching For The Light is exactly what this book does, Matt pierces your darkest parts and searches for the light, and when he comes up empty handed, he gives you some of his. This is an outstanding book that I highly recommend to every poetry and prose lover, everyone who loves literature.

I can not wait to see what Matthew comes out with next.
