That was... interesting. On the whole, well-written, but I'm not sure what to make of that ending, and I can't quite tell if the author was behind his character or mocking him.

I've known Bennett over a decade, familiar with his 'shards' and other short prose and poems, but I finally decided to read one of his novels and was impressed to find that it's real literature -- of a global depth not found in many 'American' novels. It's no wonder the book has been translated to Czech (as Frajer Bodo) and other tongues.

Very bitty, it jumps a lot, quite interesting in parts but the end leaves you wondering....what was the point of this book?!
