Tainted Cure is an exciting intense story about what happens when scientists work on a cure for Addiction and they succeed. The medicine will change the way the brain of an addict functions. So what could go wrong with that? In a word, Everything. There are other interested parties that have their own motives. There are dangerous groups at work. There is government involvement and secrets kept that lead to a catastrophe.

The story is quite interesting and allows the readers mind to wander at these possibilities. The medicine is not innocuous. It is causing people to do things that they should not be doing, such as living after death. And crave human flesh. Oh yes, this book has zombies. Lots of aggressive human seeking zombies. The government has gotten involved and there is world wide chaos.

So let me say this about the Audiobook. I loved the narration. The narrator did excellent voices that kept all the characters clear in my mind. I could recognize right away who was speaking. It was great.

This is my first zombie book. I did not expect it to hold my interest as it did. It was really a good story. The Author made it easy to understand what was going. Not always the case with scientific jargon and theme. Even with all the exploding heads and grey matter oozing, I enjoyed it. So I might have been a little afraid of the Dystopian genre before, but I admit that now I am game to try it again.

What should have been hailed as the miracle of science, bringing the illegal drug industry to its knees becomes a nightmare of global proportions. The long awaited cure for addiction has been found, an addict’s brain functions can be altered, negating the addiction, freeing its victims and their families. Should be a no brainer win-win, right? What happens when secrets are kept, governments interfere and drug lords fight back is nothing short of the world’s biggest nightmare, the day that zombies were born.

How is it that something so wonderful could become an instrument of death, and worse? Ashley Fontainne brings her own take on addiction, zombies and evil machinations that could lead to the end times of humanity and adds the right amount of suspense, gore and heroics to make this chaotic world come to life.

TAINTED CURE is intense, catastrophic and even hair raising at times as no one is safe against the undead threat. From start to finish, from the White House to the Walmart, the world is splintering and no one has the power to take the reins. Who will save the world? How will they do it? Will they be in time?

Tainted Cure by Ashley Fontainne is a unique and original look at drug addiction and the search for a cure for it. People are very creative and Tainted Cure will show you how something lifesaving and good can become twisted and evil. Do you believe in conspiracies…you may when you are done reading this.

Dr Everett Berning had been recruited to work for the covert program – Rememdium.

Their goal: find a cure for addiction.

A meth head had taken out his entire family, so how could he refuse?

Word gets out about a possible cure and the story takes an unexpected turn. Is it a cure or a curse?

At the beginning, I wondered where Ashley Fontainne could take a story about drugs. Haven’t we read all the storylines? She writes such great stories, I still expect a high level of entertainment and suspense with a unique and original twist and she did not let me down.

OMG. I didn’t see this grisly and horrific twist but I love it. They created monsters, monsters that may be the end of the world. Would anyone survive or would this be the apocalyptic event that wiped mankind from the face of the earth? The epidemic that creates the apocalypse is not what is foreseen by the doctors and medical community of today.

I never saw Tainted Cure going in this direction, fanfrickintastic. I love it and I will not tell you much, because I refuse to spoil it for you.

They don’t care who is good or bad, they just take whoever is unlucky enough to get in the way.

The twists and turns, the suspense, thrills and terror of what would come on the next page kept me reading at a rapid pace.

Tainted Reality, Book II of the Rememdium series is next on my reading list. I must know more and I must know it NOW!

I received a copy of Tainted Cure by Ashley Fontainne in return for an honest review.

Here's me thinking Ashley Fontainne can't get any better, yet she proves me wrong yet again!! In her first foray into the Zombie genre, she has created a different take on how the Zombies came to be. This author never fails to surprise me in how good she is, she has dipped her toes into multiple genres and never failed to deliver!

So in this, Dr. Everett Berning is recruited to help find a cure for addiction. Years and many trials later, the cure has been created, and best of all it works. After successful human trials, it's ready to be unleashed, but someone is intent on not letting it. Benito San Nicholas, is a drug lord and doesn't want the cure being distributed. He enlists some help and gets the cure, but what happens to it in his hands is devastating and the whole world suffers.

Everything about this book rocked. I loved the idea of the cure for addiction being found, only for it to fall into the wrong hands and being changed. It's definitely different to the virus angle and actually believable. Plus Ashley adds in her twists and turns at every opportunity. I particularly thought it was good what happened to Benitos girlfriend!!! At first I was like, how in the world could she get sick, did I miss something, then when it was revealed, I was like, oooooh! Lol.

Anyway, once again, this author has created an amazing start to what's sure to be an equally, if not better, series!! The ending will leave you wanting the next book right away and leave you wanting to check out more by this extremely talented author. This isn't just a Zombie book, this is so much more and I urge you to try it!

Be careful what you wish for...that could have been the tagline for this novel in which a potential cure for addiction is found. Imagine that, a chance to rid the world of so many problems that arise from our dependence on anything you can think of, whether it be chocolate, smoking, particular kinds of exercise, illegal drugs, just about anything. Sounds great doesn't it?

Such an advancement might very well be a wonderful thing but we all know how this is going to turn out, right? We'd like to think that the government would have proper control and the right intentions but somehow, there nearly always seems to be a glitch and, in this case, that glitch is enormous with consequences beyond anything we could predict.

Surely anybody with half a brain would foresee that the world's drug lords wouldn't just stand around and watch this happen---not to mention some other powermongers---and, when the cure falls into their hands, some really terrible things start to happen. Instead of curing addictions, a brand new affliction appears---zombies.

Yes, zombies! I love zombie fiction and Ms. Fontainne came up with a nifty idea, basing the whole concept on well-intentioned people trying to do a good thing (although you know there are going to be some shady things going along with the good) and then the good thing goes very, very wrong (gee, have we seen that happen in real life?). Naturally, there no easy answers and I'm going to have to read Book 2 to see what happens next. I think I can force myself ;-)

Not all cures are created the same

4.5 out of 5 stars

The narration for Tainted Cure was done by Rebecca Roberts. This was my first book narrated by Roberts, and she does a phenomenal job. She gives each character a slightly different voice, making the story easy to follow. The key to a good audiobook is either making the characters come alive or reading it in such a way that the reader feels like they have gained something over reading it themselves. Roberts is able to capture both. My only complaint about the audiobook (and it has nothing to do with the narrator) — is that in the real book, you can probably tell when it is switching characters. In the audiobook, there is no way of knowing it switched without actually realizing that another person that wasn’t in the one scene is now talking.

The plot for this was different than most of the zombie-type books that I read. Sure, there have been other books and movies that had a similar start (I Am Legend on the movie side is a cure for something gone wrong, and Feed by Mira Grant is about a combination of two cures that weren’t tested together). But, Tainted Cure was unique in that it was a cure for something that had no ill-effects until it was tampered with by others outside of the research lab.

The story flows really well, starting off I wasn’t really sure where the “tainted” part of the title was going to play in, and I spend the majority of the first half of the book guessing (incorrectly) what was going to go wrong.

The characters were well explained and the story followed their struggles along with their successes. My only complaint is that the story just ends. Yes, I’m fine with cliffhangers, but this felt almost like it was chopped right here to make the second book. Some of the characters completed their own arcs, but the actual story arc was between halfway and two-thirds complete. It worked, though, because now I’m going to be looking for the second story (which I believe is already completed in audiobook).

The team of Fontainne and Roberts really helped bring this story out. Roberts helped the story come alive, so I recommend listening to this if you have the chance.

So, the greatest minds come together and actually come up with a cure for drug addiction. Great, right?

Wrong. The drug cartels see their fiefdom going up in smoke. And many others see their cash cows disappearing.

Conspiracy and back stabbing lead to desperate measures. The outcome are monsters risen from the grave, craving human flesh.

I’ve read other books by Ashley in different genres, and being a fan of zombies and apocalyptic stories, I just knew she’d give me something twisted and uniquely her own. I got it in spades. Her character’s are varied, from professionals to the lowest of the low, with average Joe caught in the middle of a living hell on Earth.

The direction the author takes with this story is actually believable, even with the zombies. The question,” Should you do it just because you can?,” rears it’s ugly head and the answer is a deadly and resounding Yes. Figures. No one really cares about the consequences, just the bottom line.

This isn’t your average zombie horror story.

Loved it and on to the next book!

I received a copy of this book free of charge from the author.

Ashley Fontainne has another new release that is sure to be a hit. While this genre is not my cup of tea, I was able to still read this book. This is a fictional story about people and addicts and then a cure goes wrong and zombies are here. I am a wimp! I don't do gruesome, scary or zombies. I love how Ms Fontainne approaches her writing though, with class, humor and suspense. This author can make a phone book exciting.

This author, Ashley Fontainne is a writing machine. Always loads of thrills, chills and suspense with a touch of humor (love the Walmart in the end of story). Always a plot filled with surprises and unpredictable. The narrator, Rebeca Roberts out did herself on this book. Her multiple voices and accents are outstanding.

Tainted Cure by Ashley Fontainne is like any book you might select and should not be judged by its cover. Simply reading just the title could be easily misunderstood. What kind of cure should we expect? One for cancer, or heart disease or possibly mental illness; maybe even one of the most virulent sexual diseases. A closer inspection of the subtitle tells us exactly what to expect from the pages inside. Scientists Attempted to Cure Addiction – They Failed. Those words never conveyed the pages of unrelenting action that lay between the covers. The world was going to Hell in a most grisly manner and neither could anyone figure out how it was happening nor who was responsible.

Scientists are working on a cure for addiction. After years they have found a way to alter an addict’s brain. But this leads to a revolt from the drug industry. But there is so much more happening than drug dealers being out business. The cure also alters the body and its ability to stay dead. No one is safe and everyone has secrets from the government all they was to the dealers.

I have to say that I didn’t quite know where this book was going but I loved the whole ride. You have those that want to help addicts and have struggled for years on a cure. You have those that don’t want to lose their power and wealth. Of course if you get zombies involved you know that this is going worldwide.

I loved the action and the story. Fontainne has created a great zombie story with a new twist on the beginnings, how people are trying to stay in control or get control, and how something so innocent gets twisted in the worst way. I love this book and can’t wait to dig in to Tainted Reality.

I received Tainted Cure from Silver Dagger Book Tours for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

Ha! This book caught my attention straight away because it starts on my birthday which I apparently share with the 'delightful' character Benito. With this many review it's pretty pointless going into detail. Needless to say I agree with other 5* reviewers, the characters are delicious, the rhythm perfect and the plot has enough twists and turns to keep me engaged and wanting more!

Excellent story by Ashley Fontainne and I loved the narration by Rebecca Roberts. It's not just another zombie story. This story stars before the breakout and explains how it happened. Greed is the cause of the outbreak. Can't wait for book 2 to see if they can cure the problem.

Destruction or life from addition

Destruction or life from addition

Scientists attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed. Everett had spent ten long, grueling and life-altering years since his first day at the facility. Eighty-seven thousand, six hundred hours and counting from the moment he’d been blindfolded and ushered inside the ultra-secret laboratory. He still didn’t really know where he was or even if actually in the United States. Everett hadn’t been out of the compound since his arrival. All he knew was the location was a mile underground. Then again, was that even the truth? That’s what he’d been told in clipped, hushed tones while bound, unseen hands of his colleagues…captors as he referred to them inside his head…leading the way. Considering the installation and work were classified, he could be anywhere.
Everett’s stunned mind pulled up memories of the day he’d been hand-picked by the Director of Research, Dr. Roberta Flint. Out of the blue and reasons still rather uncertain or clear to Everett, he’d been recruited to work on Code Name: Rememdium. When Dr. Flint first approached him, Everett actually laughed…hard once she finished her slick presentation and made the offer. A grim smile tugged at the corners of his mouth while remembering how he’d questioned the woman’s sanity and credentials. When Everett grasped Dr. Flint was serious and the interaction wasn’t some sadistic prank, he laughed again
“Discovering the cure will forever alter humanity, though you won’t be able to revel in the glory once the discovery is made. None of us will. Our reward will be the immense satisfaction of knowing we helped eradicate addiction. Imagine a world without drug addicts! The ripple effect into other areas of society will be immense and far-reaching. Truly game-changing. Your doctoral thesis and late-night blog posts on the subject matter caught our attention. You’re just as interested in wiping out addiction as we are.”.
Before the unscheduled and certainly unexpected visit by Dr. Flint, Everett had been a broken man. He’d lost his job as Director of Research Administration Services at Emory University after turning to alcohol to numb his pain from the accident. Everett worried he would never be able to get past the overwhelming loss of his entire family if he didn’t move, so he left Atlanta and returned home to Little Rock, Arkansas soon after their deaths. He fought hard to try and recover from the loss of his wife, children.
But there were those who didn’t want a cure for drug addiction. Benito San Nicholas, a local big drug dealer, wasn't ready to give up his lucrative business. When the news of a cure arrived on his doorstep, Benito enlisted the help of other drug lords from around the world to stop the cure from hitting the streets and destroying their livelihoods. Eventually they were able to find scientists who could change the chemistry of the anti-addiction qualities so that there would be a bigger demand for drugs. But nature has a way of taking care of its own, and the results of the altered drugs were disastrous, and unexpected.
This story, as is usual with this particular author, has many twists, and turns, and surprises, and is the first in a series of these books. I couldn’t lay this book down once I started. I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review.

This book blow me away I just do not care for stories like this and most likely would not have picked this up had I know what it was which would have been my lose. Oh the plot twists, and the detail given in the thriller which could lead to the end of time as human know it will turn your world upside down. This is one audio I could not put down I had to listen to the end. I cannot think of anything that would be better than finding a cure for any addiction. With the start of this audio I was wowed by the story line and the narrator. So many people will be so happy but the ones you have to watch out for are the unhappy ones who will do anything to get people to buy their drugs. What the drug cartel does with the wonderful amazing drug will blow your mind and the outcome will leave hooked as not many authors can. I was left with my mouth hung open and at times saying OH MY GOD to even awww with a few lord that is nasty. I doubt you can listen to this and not be very much invested with the vivid details the author gives you.

Rebecca Roberts narration is wonderful I really like this narrator from her wonderful many different voices to the emotion she puts into her stories. Her male voices are just as great as her female ones. She has a smooth sexy voice you could listen to all day. Her male characters are rough, tough and strong. I am so amazed that she can do so many voices so wonderfully. With Ms. Roberts many different tones you have no doubt what each person is feeling. You can hear the fear, how scared they are from her voice. I heard no background noises or any place where the audio is louder than other places. You get a clear clean audio that sounds wonderful that will leave you hanging on every word. If you haven’t listened to any thing by this narrator I recommend you do she is very talented. I am sure you will love her as much as I do.

I have not read anything by this author it doesn’t take you very long to know just how talented she is. Here writing style is outstanding her stories and plots amazing. The vivid detail just blows me away. There was nothing I didn’t like from the story to the narration it was top of the line all the way. There were times I held my breath to the outcome, which I am still wondering on a few things. I am totally loving this series and have bought the next two books and still thinking about picking up the audio on book 2. The author gives you wonderful characters you can relate to as you race through to find out what else could go wrong. Your heart goes out to the one that where killed and how they died. The Apocalypse is a scary thing when put in this book with this plot it is a nightmare that you won’t forget fast. This will be one story that will stay with you for a long time to come. There is not any way you can read this and not have a very strong reaction to it. I recommend you pick up the audio you won’t believe the talent this narrator has and how much she brings to the listen. I hope you will pick up this book you will be amazed at this author and her writing style. I am off to start reading book two as I know you will be when you put this book down.

I am a huge zombie fan, and as soon as I saw the summary of this book I was interested. A cure for drug addiction? That would change so many peoples lives for the better! However, in this story that is not the case. The reader is given quite a bit of set up with the different characters involved. It took a bit longer than I expected to get into the zombie part of the story, but I enjoyed ever minute. The narrator of the audiobook is Rebecca Roberts and she did a great job. She made each character's voice different enough that I could easily follow who was who. This is my second book by this author, and I have loved both of them! I really enjoyed this audiobook and I fully intend to continue to the next book of the series!

Let me start this review by saying that although this genre of story is not one that I enjoy reading over others, the book is one that may be better suited for those that do. There are many stereotypes taken from other zombie books, but I had to laugh as people were being asked to go to their local high schools during the event; don't they know this is never a good idea.

Rebecca Roberts did an excellent job of narrating the story and voicing the many different characters. This helped me to stay engaged with the story.

I wanted so much for this book to take its original premise of a cure for addiction gone bad in a more technical or scientific direction while focusing less of the zombie side. Again, this could be that science fiction is the types of books I like reading most. Having a build up at the start of the book and than being hit with some strange potentially possible thing really excites me, yet in this story we got the expected zombies.

I wanted the author to not just take me for a ride quickly from beginning to end, the way she did, instead I was really looking for it to be more a journey where the surroundings were described in more detail. I would have liked so much more of involving the reasons and effort spent in finding a cure. The technology and painful failures first required. There was some of this, but much of it seemed flat by putting in just enough for the reader to have a limited understanding. Stronger character back story and relationship building would have also been welcomed. Maybe more interaction involvement. I want to really feel for the characters, which at times I struggled with.

I will say this book is for adults due to the heavy use of vulgar language and some very specific adult subject matter, however the overall gore factor was not as bad or descriptive as I would have expected it to be for this type of book.

I thought the ending was overall done well even though I knew it was going to lead me right in to a second book in the series. I did not think the book left off with a big cliff hanger as some series books do. It even had some lighthearted aspects that may have been placed to relieve the reader some from previous tension.

My favorite scene was during the early part of the book describing the lab and work on the cure was the one I like the best. Talking about the lab work, mice, patient trials, etc.

Could I see Tainted Cure being made into a movie or a TV series? Being that there were so many other zombie type movies that had come before it, a move that places the zombie theme on a lower note and instead focuses more on the science and cure work may help it to be realized more on TV than a movie. I say this without having read the other books in the series.

I'll admit, it took me a little bit to get into this book, but I definitely did get into it eventually. By the end I was hooked. This is an intricate story about finding a cure for addiction only to have that cure manipulated by a drug lord into tainted cocaine. The drug was released world-wide in unison and now we have an abundance of infected individuals. The infected are strong, fast, and hungry...for human flesh. This book featured a myriad of characters. At the beginning of the book, groups of characters were entire separate from one another and I honestly wondered if they were ever going to meet each other and how. Some of the main players in the book include...

The family: Regina Parker (chief of police), her twin brother Reed Newberry (a freshly retired border patrol agent), and her daughter Jessie (a recovered drug addict).

The Rememdium group: Dr. Jason Thomas (founder and funder of the Rememdium project), Dr. Everett Burning (a scientist enlisted to work on the project and creator of the cure), Dr. Roberta Flint (who enlisted Dr. Burning), Dr. Riverside (a younger scientist working with Dr. Burning on the cure), and Dirk (former military and Dr. Thomas' personal body guard).

The doomsday preppers: Walter Addison (former military), Martha (Walter's wife), Turner (Walter and Martha's son as well as Jessie's boyfriend), and Lamar and Clint (friends of the Addisons and fellow preppers with military backgrounds).

The law enforcement: Regina (mentioned above), Clint and Rogers (deputies) and Jeanie (dispatcher).

The drug cartel (not a complete list): Benito (new drug lord of a cartel in Columbia who wishes to stop the announcement of the cure to the public as well as obtain it along with Dr. Burning in order to create essentially the opposite of the cure, the end result being the tainted cocaine), Mario (former drug lord, whom Benito killed), and Maria (Mario's daughter and Benito's lover).

It was so interesting to see how individuals from the first three groups came together as well as to learn the fate of the last two. By the end of this book we have Regina, Reed, Jessie, Walter, Martha, Turner, and Lamar (and Clint in the periphery) working together to stay alive. Dr. Burning is also being escorted back to the safety of the lab by Dirk and other members of Dr. Thomas' security. The book ends in a HUGE cliffhanger. How will they survive? How will they solve this global epidemic? Will they? There are so many questions left unanswered as the conclusion of this book and, having been hooked by the end of the book, I am absolutely dying to start reading the next book in the series. I can't wait to see what happens next!

My original Tainted Cure audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.
Imagine scientists would find a cure for drug addiction. Many people could benefit and many would welcome this development. But then imagine the reaction of those who make a living from producing and selling drugs, those who have a stake in keeping people addicted. Imagine the drug got in the wrong hands and was altered with catastrophic consequences that would affect all of humankind.
With Tainted Cure, Ashley Fontainne has created an imaginative new series, one that is totally different from those books of hers that I have read before. While the zombie / dystopian genre isn’t something that I would usually pick up, I had to give this a go when I saw it once again combined Fontainne’s writing with Rebecca Roberts’ narrating. I’m so glad I did.
Tainted Cure is an exciting and suspenseful thriller that is full of the Fontainne-typical characters which you root for and sympathize with. Despite the blood and Zombie gore, there is still the distinctive humor (loved the Walmart bit) and the characteristic twists and turns and complete surprises. The story line about Benito’s fiancée was freaking fantastic!
This is the sort of story you really want to go into without having read too much about the content. So I won’t give any more away.

As expected, the narration was excellent. Rebecca Roberts creates believable male voices and the distinct variation between all the characters makes for easy and very pleasant listening. She always makes the story come to life. There were no issues with the quality of the production.

Definitely another success for Ashley Fontainne and highly recommended even if you are not into Zombies and apocalyptic stories. Looking forward to part two, Tainted Reality (The Rememdium Series Book 2) by Ashley Fontainne Tainted Reality, which has just been released on audio.

Tainted Cure: The Rememdium Series, Book 1
Written by: Ashley Fontainne
Narrated by: Rebecca Roberts
Length: 5 hrs and 43 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release Date:03-15-16
Publisher: RMSW Press

The premise of Tainted Cure is that secret research has been ongoing for about ten years to find a permanent cure of addiction, all addiction. The research is achieved by addicting rodents to opioids. Once addicted, different formulas are tested on the rodents. Only after ten thousand plus formulas does one work. The next step is to select, literally off the streets, and use them as human test subjects.

The potential to end addiction has great benefit for many, many people. It will not benefit those who produce, distribute and sell drugs. Having a mole inside the lab keeping a drug cartel lord informed, the plan is to stop the cure from being produced and reverse engineer it to make drugs more addictive. There is an unexpected side effect.

The main characters in the book range from scientist to drug lords to preppers and people caught in the middle. None of the characters are really fleshed out well. The plot moves between the different people and places.

Rebecca Roberts does a fantastic job narrating this book. Listening to her tell the story is much better than reading it. She infuses life into a plot and characters which otherwise seem flat. Her male as well as female characters are well done. I am never disappointed in any narrations done by Rebecca Roberts. Whether the book is poor, fair, good or excellent, her narration is always perfect.

Since a fairly full introductory synopsis has already been given and this is a book best heard with no preconceptions, no further storyline will be revealed here. Sufficient to say, a 'cure' does not necessarily deliver an anticipated result...

Ashley Fontainne has a pleasantly direct writing style, with short, crisp sentences heavily interspersed with dialogue. She brings an immediacy to the characters and storyline which draws the reader/ listener in to the action, thus making what could be ridiculous feel almost plausible. Yes, this is a story which even suspended disbelief cannot quite make real. And yet, even after a considerable time lapse and a number of other books later, several of the scenes from Tainted Cure, remain with me, as fresh and vibrant as they were when first encountered.
This is a very visual book, fast paced, often violent, sometimes funny, with a myriad of characters. Although not fully rounded three dimensional people, her protagonists all shine with brightly distinct personalities even when their appearances are brief. This is a story to fall into, not to think about too deeply.
A special mention must be made of the narrator, Rebecca Roberts, whose voice seems to perfectly fit the story (despite my initial reservations). Her calm delivery enhances the fast action of the book.
This book is not perfect. There are inconsistencies and as previously mentioned, a great dollop of suspended disbelief has to be applied. But it is a well written, fun listen and, as such, recommended.

I received a copy of this book for review from the author via Audiobook Boom on the understanding that I would return and post an honest opinion

Just when you think you've seen everything there is to see about zombies, and know everything there is to know about them, along comes award-winning author Ashley Fontainne to turn things upside down and basically reinvent the genre. In typical Ashley fashion, she manages to bring something unique to any genre she chooses to write in.

Like other zombie and apocalyptic fiction, there is gore, there is non-stop action and there is death, plenty of it. However, unlike other fiction of this type, there are also characters you sympathize with, people you root for, people you hate, and of course, twists and turns and in-your-face surprises like only Ashley can devise. In fact, she is so adept at throwing curve balls out of left field, that it's almost become her trademark.

There are so many good authors and books to choose from when trying to select your next read. There are all "those" authors, and then there is Ashley Fontainne. She's a drop-whatever-you're doing, forget-about-the-current-book-you're-reading author. Yes, she is THAT good. And "Tainted Cure," the first in The Rememdium Series, is an outstanding introduction to her work. Get it immediately, you definitely won't be sorry.

Tainted Cure has a fantastic plot line- Scientists come up with a way to cure addiction to drugs. A pill that not only makes people stop craving the drugs they used to live for- but if they ingest it, it actually makes them throw up. BUT it has an unfortunate side effect- it turns them into Zombies.
The government gets involved, but they aren't necessarily trust worthy.
All of this is what kept me going through the book- the side stories like the boy/man who was raised for just this sort of emergency (his maybe not so crazy dad demanded it), the not to be trusted government aspect, the scientists who don't even know the real story behind what they are doing- even though I am truly not a big fan of Zombie stories. I don't like the gore, and for some reason they don't satisfy my interest like other supernatural beings do like vampires and ghost.
So Ashley, if ever you end up reading this, I submit my request that you write me a vampire or a ghost story next! Unless there already is one?
Rebecca Roberts has a very pleasant narration voice, one I have come back to again and again.

I had read 47% of this book when I stopped at this line: "The second term of well-loved and respected President Thompson would be over and the duties passed on to the obnoxious blowhard, President-Elect Ronald Krump." Really? Honestly, it seems to me that such a sentence is extremely juvenile and has no place in this novel, regardless of the author or reader's politics! If this were a humorous novel or was pertinent to the story it would be different. I felt that the author decided on the spur of the moment to jab at the current American political drama and as an American I was offended by this.

Prior to this point there was promise to the series. The plot had an interesting twist to it which separated it from the rest of the current zombie stories -a definite plus. I did feel that the characters could have used more fleshing out and there were a few points where I thought Everett was not in character (did and thought things that his character wouldn't have). The characters seemed one dimensional and I couldn't form any connection to them to care what happened to them. Also, a bit of jumping around to side stories where I thought the transition could have been smoother.

"Very Enjoyable But Lacks A Proper Ending."

•Is there anything you would change about this book?

"This should be one book, not three (so far I know of three in the series). The book ends at a chapter & you have to pick up the next book to continue. I know this is very common with today's authors, but it is something that I am utterly sick of. I happen to love series, but I want a full book for each book in the series. What authors are doing is simply stopping a book mid-story & making you buy another if you wish to read more."

•Who was your favorite character and why?

"Because the story changes from different characters point of view, it was hard to get any real feelings for any of the characters, plus some of them die."

•What about Rebecca Roberts’s performance did you like?

"She is brilliant at depicting individual characters, voices accents, etc. She is fantastic!"

•Did Tainted Cure inspire you to do anything?

"It kept me entertained while I worked."

•Any additional comments?

Yes yes yes the zombie thing has been done a million time.... But guess what.... This ones a bit different.
My mother was an addict my entire life & she passed away last week. That is why I chose this book to listen to this week.
I was very impressed. I'm a prepper at heart but my pocketbook doesn't agree. With all of the deaths by cops this week & the shootings tonight in Dallas i feel I need to make it a bigger priority.
This book may seem far fetched & like a lot of science fiction but so did walking on the moon at one point in time! Hell we'll be seeing pics from Jupiter before long.
Ok so on to the review. I loved it! It made me think more about this crazy world. I love zombie books so when I get a new one I devour it. Lol Well I do when they are this good. Great narration too. I will definitely be recommending this series & getting book 2 ASAP.

I have to admit that I am not a big fan of zombie stories. It wasn't really what I was expecting when I started reading this. That being said, I think this story has a really interesting and unique plotline, and I didn't have any problem getting through it. This is not a normal zombie story - there is a medical research twist and a drug trade twist, which I enjoyed and feel really added to the story. There is also humor scattered throughout, which I appreciated. I listened to the Audible version, and thought the narrator did a good job with the pacing of the reading. Be prepared, though, because the story ending will make you want to get the next book in the series to see if it is resolved. Even though this isn't my favorite genre, the story drew me in and makes me want to read further in the series.

This is a fast paced story about a world wide disaster. The book starts at a steady pace and slowly builds speed until you are reading like a maniac to see what happens next. I couldn't believe how quickly I was pulled into the story and then how quickly it was over (with a big cliff hanger!). I never would have guessed what the story was about based on the brief description I read, a doctor creates this amazing cure to addiction, which turns into this action packed adventure. I won't tell you what happens even though I really want to! If your a fan of action, adventure and just a fantastic read then you must pick up this book! I can't wait for book 2 to see what happens.
