Fiona has always been a little odd, with her superstitions and steadfast belief in faeries, but as the daughter of the head of Clan MacCaig, no one has ever dared to comment about it... until now. After a series of strange animal killings befall her village, some people are starting to whisper that she's a witch, and if those whispers get loud enough, things might start to get a little heated. Things change when Fiona's beloved father makes a deal with the enigmatic Sheehy they will help find the cause of these deaths, and in exchange Callum, son of the clan's head, will have Fiona's hand in marriage...only he doesn’t know that Fiona had recently had a secret romantic rendezvous with a strange warrior in a meadow the day before the betrothal is revealed. Terrified over losing her ability to chose, she disappears into the highlands to solve the mystery herself......

Callum had never thought of marriage until having a secret moment in the meadow with the woman later revealed to be her future wife. After she disappears, he leaves to protect her at all costs...even if that means revealing his clan’s secret wolf shifting abilities. Together in the highland wilderness, Fiona and Callum must face a dangerous supernatural creature...and Fiona must decide whether to marry or not.

It was a good read.

It had some editorial errors that made it hard to read in spots but the story was good. It could have been fleshed out a little and it would have had more depth and would have been a better story.

Short fun reads

These were fun short reads. I love reading about the different magical legends the highlanders believed in. Always makes me smile.
