I’m the daughter of a semi-retired Methodist minister, and have spent most of my life living in Texas and New Mexico (no, I am not a native Texan; I was born in the state of Washington). I graduated from West Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in 2000. I taught school for a couple of years before realizing that I really wanted to spend my time writing.

I’m a daughter, mother, wife, sister, granddaughter. Currently, I live in North Texas with my husband, and my son has gone off to college. I have a wicked sense of humor and find almost anything funny.

That’s about it. If there is something else you want to know, ask me!

Ghostwriter Cam (who can actually see ghosts) is back for another adventure in Waxahachie, TX. In this book, Susan Ingram is murdered during a dinner theater performance of Blithe Spirit. In a striking coincidence, her mother in law, Lillian, was murdered in the same place in the 1960s, and in the same manner. Are the two deaths related? It's up to Cam to unravel the secrets of the past to solve the murders of today.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint. This was a complex mystery with lots of surprise twists, and I admit, although I had a lot of theories who the murderer was, I really didn't guess the true outcome. There's also a bit of a cliffhanger, as the mobster ghost of Mac "The Faker" Green is still hanging around because his murder still needs to be solved. I loved the heartwarming scene with Reed at the end, it was a great way to end the book.

Overall, an excellent followup to the first book with an outstanding mystery that will keep you guessing. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading the first in the series.

This series is one of my favorite series ever!
This story had so many twists and turns and always kept me on my edge! I did not put it down.
The main ghost character is so amazing, his character cracks me up. I would love to see more of him in future stories! I want him to make an appearance in my story!
This story is continually keeping me on the edge.
Cannot wait to read book three!
Love it

Who Invited the Ghost to Dinner? by Teresa Watson is a fun and intriguing mystery that blends murder, family secrets, and just the right amount of supernatural humor. I enjoyed the unusual idea of Cam Shaw dealing with a wise-cracking ghost while trying to uncover the truth behind a new murder and a decades-old family death. The mystery keeps the story moving, and the ghostly element adds a playful twist without taking away from the suspense. There are plenty of questions to keep you guessing about who is behind the killings and why. I would definitely recommend this book to readers who enjoy cozy mysteries, quirky characters, family secrets, and a clever supernatural twist.

Holes In The Plot

Some plot holes, changes in characters backstories from book one, and occasional grammar errors. Quite a let down after the first book in the series.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

When the book started out with a disappearance of “two old people” I wasn’t sure where we were headed, but we quickly learn the “old people” have gone to Las Vegas to get married, and one has been banned from 1 casino, I knew the fun was just beginning.

Cam Shaw and her dad travel to Vegas to bring the “old people” home but they also bring home Mac “the Faker” Green. Mac happens to be a ghost. Cam seems to have a way with ghosts and this one is going to really test her patience.

Shortly after they return Cam is helping her mother set up for the opening night of a dinner production of Blithe Spirit. There she meets another ghost who helps her with the table settings. Trying her best to handle 2 ghosts, Cam is happy to just enjoy the play but before Act II begins a scream rocks the place. You got it, murder and ghost number 3, and she is related to ghost #2 who also happened to be murdered. What in the world is going on in Texas? I forgot to mention Cam’s boyfriend, Mike, is the chief of police, and he can’t see or hear the ghosts. They are going to have to work together to solve these murders.

Teresa Watson has scored high marks with me for this story. She has created some fine characters and constructed a story that held on and didn’t let go.

There is a big cast of characters, but she gives us a list to refer to before the story even starts. I missed the first story in this series so I appreciated that very much. After the first couple of chapters I knew who was who and what was what. They are all very unique and their personalities come through quickly. The ghosts were so well written and truly reflected the way they were before their lives were cut short.

Cam, short for Camille, is a ghostwriter, and is a great protagonist. She presses hard for answers, sometimes a little too hard, but really is just trying to help. She bangs heads with Mike a few times when she thinks he is withholding information. They are taking their romance slow and that is probably a good thing.

I really liked her grandmother Alma, one of the “old people”. She is 84, feisty, opinionated, and a card shark. She is also softhearted and thinks the world of her granddaughter. I did enjoy the whole family dynamic.

Now this mystery has so many twists and so many turns and without the help from the ghosts Mike would probably still be scratching his head. The criminal/s covered their tracks very well now and in the past.

The author left some things unfinished so I can’t wait to see where she takes us next. I know I want to see what happens between Cam and Mike and how Alma adjusts to married life. I am also curious about the ghosts that may visit. I know there are plenty more good stories coming soon.

Teresa Watson presents us with her second outstanding entry in the Ghost Writer Mystery series. I loved Who Invited the Ghost to Dinner and am already looking forward to the next book in the series. I love the strength and intelligence of the characters and enjoy their interaction. Sometimes I feel that she and Mike are quick to anger with each other but every time when I think about the pressure they are under and the reason behind their irritation, I know that I would be the same way. I adore the grandparents
While the presences ghosts may not be realistic, they are a rational, contributing individuals. I actually got pretty attached to Mac. How's that for creating great characters because I sure didn't expect to care for him at all.

Another fun and fast paced cozy mystery by Teresa Watson! Love the paranormal side of things with the new ghost. Hope to still find out more about what happened to Mac! I read this second one in series like I did the last one with a friend. We both enjoyed discussion time about the book. There were a few grammatical type errors but the story itself makes up for the minor misses. I also was still surprised to find out who the killer was. My major suspect ended up being a victim and I did not see that one coming so keep up the good work in the next book!

I'll give this a 3.5 so I'll round up to 4 stars.
I loved the first book so much that I was super excited for this book to come out. Lots of stuff happened that I didn't see coming. There were more than just one mystery to solve that always had you thinking. Loved the ghosts. Can't wait to see where book 3 will take us.

No one invited the ghost

I chose this rating because it is very interesting to me to have a monkey wrench thrown into a story. I was wrong about two murders. I enjoy the way the different stories flow through the books. I cannot wait to read the next book. I would give a 100 star rating if I could

Some people can see and talk to the departed

Cam Shaw can see and talk to the departed. She has no idea why. However, talking to the dead is less frightening than when it first happened.

A well-written cozy with a fantastic ending.
