Erik Seligman lavora in Intel nel campo della VLSI, come matematico teorico prestato all'ingegneria ed ha anche scritto un libro sull'argomento, ma è più noto - almeno nel mondo anglosassone - per un suo podcast di argomento matematico, Math Mutation. Questo libro raccoglie il testo di molte puntate del podcast, rivisto per rimetterlo in forma più organica. Un lavoraccio, ve lo garantisco, che però è stato fatto in maniera davvero accurata. Ma a parte la resa editoriale, il libro è venuto fuori molto bene. Molti dei temi trattati in una paginetta o due sono quelli classici, ma il punto di vista da cui sono trattati è fresco - fin troppo, potrebbe dire qualcuno che non sopporta il tipo di umorismo di Seligman - oltre che molto personale. Inoltre la bibliografia è molto accurata, e dà un'idea di dove continuare a cercare materiale di questo tipo (Wikipedia fa la parte del leone, ma la cosa dovrebbe essere nota...) Mi sa che dovrei vincere la mia ritrosia nell'ascoltare podcast e la mia incapacità di comprendere l'inglese parlato e cominciare a sentirli!
