Good times didn’t last forever. While Beth Hart had enjoyed being the sometimes girlfriend of Max Reynolds—the hot bass player for Black Addiction—she knew it would never be more than a casual fling. He was destined for greatness, and she cared too much to hold him back. So, before she lost her heart and her sanity, she said goodbye to the Bronx, moved to Manhattan and left her party-girl days in the past—along with Max.

Nothing made Max happier than being a success in his own right. And in the last few years, he and his band had well and truly earned it. Moving to the city and enjoying the spoils of his new lifestyle made perfect sense, and he loved his new address. It wasn’t his new huge penthouse apartment that got him excited; it was his new neighbor. The one girl he regretted letting go—Beth.

He wanted her back and would do anything to make it happen. Hopefully it wasn’t too late.

The third book in the Black Addiction rocker series, a spinoff of the Power Station books, Stand features the last member of the band, bassist Max Reynolds and his long time love, Beth Hart. Beth has traded in her previous rocking life for a more mature one as an elementary school teacher, and that trade-in included Max.

Till he shows up at her doorstep.

Then it’s hard to put old feelings, old attractions, and all the old reasons for staying away behind. And who can blame her. Not too far into the story and it’s easy to see Max is total book boyfriend material. Ever last inch of him.

“‘Um hello?...You ladies realize I’m still here right? Both me and my cock.’”

All of the Black Addiction and Power Station guys have been amazing fictional heroes and Max keeps up the tradition. He is super easy going, an all round great guy, and was always such a good sport (oh the things this poor dude endures), even when it came to adventures in babysitting. Speaking of babies—side note— sleep deprived, jacked up on Red Bull Joey so needs a novella HEA. (Hint, not-so-sublet-hint, T. Gephart!) Just reading tidbits of his new roles as husband and dad made me crave more humorous adventures with him and Kenzie and Layla.

But back to Max…I loved how he was determined to win Beth once and for all, and he never wavered from his goal. There are plenty of sexy times between the couple and quite a few humorous mishaps to keep the story interesting without ever resorting to melodrama or misunderstanding.

Like the previous books, the story can be read as a stand-alone, but I also recommend the series as it’s always a lot of fun with witty narration by the couple.

All in all, an enjoyable read about the past and present colliding to pave way for the future in this low angst, upbeat romance.

Stand is the story of Max, the bass player from Black Addiction, and Beth the on again off again girlfriend. Beth and Max have continued to find their way back to each other over the years. The last break up was made by Beth as Max was on the verge of making it big. Beth didn’t want to hold Max back by being weighed down with a girlfriend and she had dreams of her own. Beth is the girl Max has always regretted losing and he never really knew why she left. I really loved their relationship. Beth was a girl with a good head on her shoulders and she was determined to find her path. Staying with Max had the potential of destroying them down the road so she walked. I loved that it wasn’t a sad heartbreaking end; it was just two people that knew it wasn’t there time yet.

Now that all the other band members have found love and Joey has moved; Max decides to look for a new place to live. Joeys conniving little sister pressures Max in to taking a place in Manhattan that she thinks is perfect for him but she doesn’t mention that his lovely neighbor is Beth. Max and Beth are pretty shocked to cross paths again and Beth tries to play the “let’s be friends” card. Max isn’t okay with that so he starts a pursuit of Beth and before long she has to face the music and stop fighting it.

I love a good second chance romance and this was a fun one. I loved the banter between all the characters but especially between Beth and her bestie Jules. Max was a persistent and swoon worthy hero and Beth was a fun heroine even though she stayed in denial a little too long.
Well done!

Gephart is an author that you can always count on to create a story where you just root for the characters from the begining. Stand is no different, but it is proven bitter sweet as this is the last book within this world she has created.

Gephart knows how to right a bloody good romance and makes both characters likeable and relatable (Well as relatable as can be in when a rock star is involved.) Check this out. Full Review is on my blog

5 Fated Stars

Max Reynolds is the lone single member of his band Black Addiction now. Angie has Jase, Rusty has Max's niece Alison, and Joey has Kenzie. His friends are either married with a children or committed and ready to marry. Now that Max is on his own, he's looking for a new place to live in the heart of Manhattan.

With a little nudge and interference, Max ends up living in the same building as his on-again/off-again girl, Beth Hart. Max and Beth always seemed to come and go in each other's lives without any drama. Beth always knew that Max was destined for something great and didn't want to be the cause of holding him back so she walked away. The last time they'd seen each other was three years ago before Black Addiction went on the road with Power Station. So it's a surprise to Beth when Max shows up at her door.

But these two are meant to be together, even if Beth doesn't realize it. Max knows she's his one, even if he didn't know it back when they knew each other before and he will do anything, even if it's just being her friend. Max is ready to make it clear to Beth that she is his future.

This was a great ending to the series. We got to get a piece of what life is like for the other band members we'd read about in the pervious installments. We also got to know more about Max and the kind of man he is.

I loved how Max took care of Beth, but also encouraged her to be strong enough to stand on her own two feet. Beth's friend Jules was a hoot. I would love a story about her finding love... maybe with Dom?

I'm going to miss the characters from Lexi , Power Station , and Black Addiction yet I'm looking forward to what the author, T. Gephart, will do next. I'm sure I will love it.

I thought Rusty was my favourite male in Black Addiction...but i think Max might have just blown him out of first place.

This is Max and Beth's Story.
Max has found stardom / rockdom with Black Addiction. Beth knew that she had to say goodbye to Max, she felt that she was holding him back. She now has a new life in Manhattan.

Years later...thanks to a meddling friend...they meet up again...and this is where Max becomes my number one Black Addiction member. His pursuit of Beth, who only wants to be friends....is subtle but ever present. Not wanting to take NO...LETS JUST BE FRIENDS as an answer...

Beth's life has been going along since she left Max...but he is back, and he wants HER back. and she tries to step back...but will she be able to refuse his advances? Can she handle FRIENDS ONLY?

this is their story, and i think the best out of the three.

I have enjoyed all of T Gephart's books....starting with the Lexie series and Power Station....but this one fell a bit flat for me.

Perhaps because our MCs Beth and Max have been in an on again, off again swings and roundabouts relationship as recently as four years ago, but I didn't feel the second chance thrill. There is little made of the time apart so very limited angst around lost time or missed opportunity. And no jealousies or insecurities..really? None?

And even though Beth is a reluctant second chancer initially I didn't feel any gradual build or tension.

It had a beginning, middle and end, and it all seemed to be the same pace. This may be a result of my current funk rather than this story.....I am in a grouchy book mood.

Book slump continues. Sigh.

To be honest, I’m not completely sure why I was kind of bored by this book. Max and Beth had been involved years before he’d been a famous rock star, and through the meddling machinations of his best friend’s sister, Max ends up buying a place in the same building in Manhattan as Beth and sparks fly again instantly when they meet again. Some of my boredom might have been that I didn’t really feel any buildup in their relationship, and another part was since the two of them just fit together so well and seamlessly even after years apart, it never really made sense to me why they broke up, or even why they never tried to look each other up before this. I mean, one of her best friends is his best friend’s little sister, and they claimed to have always loved each other and it wasn’t like a bad break up or anything, Beth had just walked away I guess so he could become famous and move on. I just found this whole storyline a bit fuzzy, and throwing in a random crazy one-night stand ex to the mix just added to my confusion. I adored the second book in this series, so unfortunately this was a bit of a let down.

Miss T. Gephart really knows how to make her readers have fun! Stand was an overall stimulating read, perfectly capturing fun, love, and the sexiness brought by loving a rockstar. An exhilarating mix of music, romance, and one-sided emotions.
He had this uncanny ability to make you feel like you were the only woman in the room, like nothing else mattered, and even if I knew it was temporary, I loved it.

Being surrounded by love-struck band members, Max Reynolds finds himself wondering if he was meant for the same thing. And the only thing that could convince him was the right girl. I have to admit, since I started the Black Addiction series, Max held a special place in my heart. And Miss T has definitely kept the interest through every book in the series. I have to tell you, Max Reynolds never disappoints. The surprising yet utterly sexy mix of cocky and sweet of his character was an addictive streak in the book!
Beth Hart was not the kind of girl you could meet and go on with your life like she didn’t exist.

Beth already knew how consuming it was to be with Max Reynolds. That was the main reason why she avoided him years ago. But it seemed fate wanted to prove to her that once you’ve had a taste of Max, you’ll never have enough. I loved it that Beth’s character was not a shadow to Max’. She was a heroine who contemplated on things that are usually taken for granted in most romance books. The delicious mix of sexy and serious in her generally fiery personality was downright badass!
“You’re my past, present and future, Beth. So if you’re out, then I don’t have anything left.”

The chemistry between Max and Beth was absolutely page-turning! I loved the banters and the cat and mouse between these two. Having shared a history, there was a lingering sizzle every time they’re around each other and the palpable heat kept me up on my toes! I loved how Beth shared common stereotypes as most readers have towards Max and how wonderfully Max proved me wrong. Miss T has a way of capturing a reader in a very entertaining way. She can always make me laugh and feel and break all at the same time. Her uniquely hilarious scenes are always my favorites! Plus! Her secondary characters are always soo much fun! Stand was a sexy, fun, and page-turning read!

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

I knew from the start of this series that I could wait for Max's story and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. With his down to earth attitude, good looks and Alpha male personnel, he has it all. From the start he shows what friendship is and what real love can be. By far this was the best book in the series. I'm calling dibs on him!

Beth and Max have been friends, friends with benefits and had even a relationship in the past. When Beth decides that she needs to let go where Max can find himself. What Beth didn't expect years later for Max and her to cross paths again. Can these two figure out if love is worth it or will it be the end?

I highly recommend reading this series, each book is a stand alone.

I love love love this book.
Max is so cute I can't cope and Beth is amazing too!!

Their relationship wasn't insta-love/lust and that's what I love the most about this book. It was like a "to be continued" kinda of relationship and it was glorious.

Their "sexy times" got me all hot and bothered because their chemistry (in bed and outside of it) is seriously goals!

I love the bit with Zack... it was so funny and cute!! my only complain could be that I'd loved to read Megs and Max conversation... it sounded hilarious.

But anyway, in overall it's an amazing book. Fully recommended!

I love rock star romances, but something about this one just didn't fully catch my fancy. And, shamefully, I think it's because everyone was just too nice and pleasant. There was none of that grit or grime or drama that I associate with this genre. And while I don't want cliche, overblown plot devices, I do want a little more conflict within the story.

T Gephart has done a wonderful job with all of these characters from her books. This was the perfect ending to this series, and for Max, the final rock star to have his story told. Great read from a talented Aussie author.

As shown on Books and Boys Book Blog.

‘Stand’ is the third book in the ‘Black Addiction’ series by T. Gephart and it is just as good as the others. I can’t seem to see past these sexy rockers and the females they come across. This is yet another 5 star read for me as truly doesn’t disappoint.

Book number three focuses the last member of the band that we have to read about (which makes me a little sad actually) and it is the tale of Max Reynolds, the bassist for the band. Max has come across in the previous books as the guy that will be there for others whatever is needed and nothing is too much. This impression of him is only reinforced in this book. He is as sexy as sin but also as sweet as can be.

Settling down after there last tour Max takes time to look for and settle into a new flat but as the rest of the band have found love Max begins to wonder if he will ever find love too. When a friend suggests that he may have already met the one he loves Max admits to himself that the only person he ever saw like that was Beth. So when he finds out that his on again off again girlfriend from his past lives in the same building, he re-evaluates what it is that he wants.

Beth Hart has known Max since high school and hasn’t seen him since she walked away a few years back. They didn’t end on bad terms but Beth felt that the best thing for both of them was to follow their own paths and see what happens. In the past Beth and Max always ended up finding each other as the ease that they came together and the joy that they found in each other was always something they both cherished. When they find each other this time though, Beth is hesitant as she is not sure how she will be when it ends this time round.

Coming to the realisation that Beth is it for him Max has his work cut out for him but he is not one to be deterred.

Again like the other books it focuses more on the people than the actual band. The band members are in this book and are brilliant as ever but it is Max that steals the show. He is amazing in every way and is loving, sweet, protective, gorgeous and much more. Beth is also strong and beautiful but it is the banter and wit that is written throughout the book that makes you love the characters and the writing. An entertaining book filled with laughter and joy as well as the sexy musician just can’t fail. I truly recommend that you read this book as well as the other in the series as you won’t be disappointed. This has truly cemented T. Gephart as one of my favourite authors and I will be one clicking all of her books from now on.

Max and Beth had been in an on and off relationship for years until she ends it and leaves. Not by chance Max moves into a new upscale apartments and guess who his neighbor turns out to be. Beth tries to resist as she doesn't feel like the togetherness can happen due to his business but Max will prove her wrong and show her happily ever after!!

Max is the sexy rock star and the last single guy of Black Addiction and I guess I had very high expectations. The story wasn’t bad but it wasn’t as good as the other two. Beth was cool and I like her strong character. I still recommend reading this story because it’s part of the group and it’s the final piece.

There's something deeply satisfying for me about stand alone series, they always feel fresh and exciting and yet oddly familiar, being able to indulge in beloved characters while discovering new ones is like catching up with friends from University or old work colleagues, you spend long enough there to remember why you loved them and how much fun you used to have, and in the process get to meet partners and spouses, and hell sometimes even their children, you get a glimpse into the past and foresight into their future, you instantly see how much you have all changed, how much you've all grown in the time that had passed. When you reconnect with old friends in books you get to see all the time that passed, the leaps and bounds the characters have made, you see a lifetime of love and happiness play out before your eyes, while getting to know these new people who will soon become "your people".

Max in the previous books in the Black Addiction series seemed mostly laid back, he had the kind of swagger that makes grown women turn to mush, he had confidence, sure he could totally dominate that alpha vibe when pushed or when someone he cared about was pushed, but mostly for me he was the kind of guy girls wanted to bang like a drum and guys wanted to be like. He seemed somewhat unaffected by the trappings of wealth and rock stardom, in fact one the biggest things I loved about him and the entirety of Black Addiction was their ability to take their rise to fame in their stride. Knowing Max was seemingly unfazed by most things, I *knew* it would have to be someone pretty darn special to make him stop and take notice.

The idea of a famed celebrity or Rockstar falling for the girl who got away certainly isn't new, in fact it's the second chance romance of it all that has me practically begging the author for an early release date, but what happens when the 'one who got away' didn't really get away at all, when there was no messy break up, no broken hearts strewn across the continent, no big angsty 'I hate you because I'll always love you' moment? Oh the adultness of it all.... in the case of Stand by Ms Gephart it was refreshing and exhilarating.

I've often spoken about my distaste for the oh no we didn't communicate properly despite being adults and being in an adult relationsip but we're still pining for one another and will eventually do the hate/love dance when we meet again plotline, in all honesty that overused trope often leaves me feeling mildly stabby, here in Stand there was none of that, if you get that all consuming I want to shake my kindle feeling like me - you can sigh with relief because you are safe. Instead Gephart effortlessly delivered a story about two people who once meant something to each other, two people who were more than just lovers, more than just friends, something that was infinitely more and yet both were too young and naïve to realise it, who found each other again as more adultier adults, two people who set out to create something bigger than the life they were living back when they called the Bronx home.

"We are not high fiving over sex, Jules....We didn't turn into frat boys last time I checked."

Everything about Stand drew me in, incredibly funny, sexy as hell, with heartbreakingly tender moments that made me swoon with delight, earlier tonight I was discussing books with those 'oh my god' moments, you know the ones...the ones that have that huge shock value scene that you sit there questioning long after you've turned the last page, sure at the time I have that 'whoaaa what did I just read moment' but often what I'm truly after is a story that I can just read, I can sink into, I can escape into, one that makes me giggle, makes me blush crimson, makes me SMILE, books that are solid from beginning to end, the ones that just grab me on the first page as if to say 'hey you, get comfy because you're not going to want to put me down'. Gephart did that, from the very first line of the prologue I was captivated, I didn't care what else hit my kindle while I was reading because I was so invested in Max and Beth that I didn't want anything or anyone else clouding my Black Addiction haze.

"I'd heard those lyrics a hundred times before, and they'd never meant as much as they did at that moment. I loved him. I'd always loved him. And even if it didn't last forever, there would never be a moment I'd regret it."

T Gephart once again had showing all the signs of a happy book nerd, uproarious laughter, sly smirks, knowing smiles, happy sighs... her writing absolutely reminding me how much I adore her work, my trip back to the boys and girl of Black Addiction, my little dalliance with Power Station made me eager for a reread of the entire two series, when your reading time is limited and reviews are mounting in your diary, you know just how big of a statement that is. It was bittersweet reading Stand, because I knew that once I finished I'd have to say goodbye to these characters I'd come to love, until I remembered that that's the beauty of reading, that your friends are only a reread away.

Although I really liked both characters, I found this story a bit boring compared to the books that came before it. After reading the entire series, with all the ups and downs of the other couples, I guess I expected a little more drama. Otherwise, it was a good wrap-up to the series.

In Stand, Max is the sole remaining bachelor out of the 3 Black Addiction men, but his world is about to be rocked by the one who got away.

In their college days, Max and Beth were a constant. No matter how many times they got together and drifted apart, they somehow always found their way back to each other. Once Black Addiction was signed by Power Station, Beth knew that Max was on the brink of achieving his dream, but if they stayed together she was afraid neither one of them would truly realize the future they were hoping for. Max was destined to be a famous rock star, and as much as she loved him, she just wanted to pursue her dream of being a teacher. Her future didn't fit with fame and popularity, so she walked away.

Now years later, Black Addiction has become the hit she always knew they would be, and Max is looking for a new place to live since Joey has vacated the home they formerly shared. Joey's little sister Ivy is also a realtor, so when she finds him the perfect apartment in Manhattan, she basically strong-arms him into making the decision to buy it and it doesn't take him long to find out why. It seems Ivy remained friends with Beth over the years but the guys were too busy to realize it, so when Max goes to find Ivy's "friend" in the building thinking that he is going to have a little fun shaking up her new boyfriend, he is floored to find his former girlfriend standing on the other side of the door.

Both of them feign anger at Ivy for her manipulation but neither is truly upset to have the other back in their lives again. They effortlessly fall back into a friendship, but Max doesn't want it to end there. In the years that have passed since they lost contact, no other woman has come close to living up to Beth in his eyes and he won't let her get away twice. He pulls out all the romantic stops with a little help along the way from Beth's firecracker roommate Jules. All does not go smoothly though as Beth manages to almost kill him twice on their first date- YIKES! OK, kill may be a slight exaggeration but it was definitely no fun for Max. Fortunately he is a laid back kind of guy and rolls with the allergic reaction and subsequent near overdose of antihistamines that put a quick stop to the evening.

Unfortunately, Max comes with a pretty big spotlight that follows him around incessantly, so it doesn't take long until Beth is thrust before the lens of the paparazzi. She is able to roll with it easily until a shunned one date wonder decides he can use her for 15 minutes of fame and almost destroys her career in the process. In true Black Addiction form, they close ranks around anyone they consider family to neutralize the problem, and Mike of the micro manhood is creatively sent packing.

Stand is a great second chance romance filled with the trademark humor I have come to expect from this author. Max and Beth were fun, sexy, sweet and hot, and the chemistry between them was clear from the start. Their relationship was based on friendship first which morphed into a love that lasted over the years and only strengthened once they found their way back to each other. There were some great relationship progression moments for the other band couples, and although the whole Black Addiction gang has found their HEA, I am hoping a spinoff series may feature cameos from some of these characters in the future. Dom, a friend and musician from another band who played a role in both Sticks and Stand, would be an excellent choice for a spinoff in my opinion! All in all, I loved Stand and the Black Addiction series as a whole. I highly recommend 1-clicking all 3 books for some quality rock star romance fun!

Max and Beth’s second chance romance was everything I thought it would be and more. Wonderful characters, a heartfelt and heartwarming storyline, plenty of chuckles and scorching sexy times make this book and this series a must read. I listened to the audiobook version and I thoroughly enjoyed the narration performances of Tyler Donne and Summer Roberts.

Review:
“It took him a second. Just one. His body stalked closer, forcing me back against the mirrored wall of the elevator. His breath tickled my neck as he closed whatever distance there had been. While I may have started it, he was taking control, no further encouragement needed.”

5 addicted stars!! I am obsessed with this series and with T.!

Beth loved Max more than anything in the world, but he was destined for greatness and he was the hot bass player for Black Addiction. Not one to hold her man back from his dreams, she decides to leave the Bronx and start a new life in Manhattan, which means she left Max as well. Max is living his life as a rock star and enjoying every minute. Now with tons of money he’s excited to move into his new apartment in Manhattan, and is ever more surprised to find out that his next door neighbor is Beth. Determined to win back the love he lost, he’ll stop at nothing to prove his love to her. But is Beth ready to go back to her bad girl party ways or is she happy with her new life??

Look, there’s only a few authors I will stop everything for a read, and T is one of them. When this book landed on my kindle I squealed!!! I’m obsessed with her entire rock stars books! She has a way of writing and making each character seem real and almost relatable! I always know I’m in for a great book when her name is attached to it!! And Stand is no different!

** Review written by Gayle from Bloggers From Down Under **

Omfg…..T Gephart has done it again!

Stand…What can I say other than this novel, the last in the Black Addiction series left me reeling….I wanted more….I loved it!

In the last instalment of this amazing series we get to meet Max and Beth.
They have been on again/off again for years. Their relationship status, well they kinda don’t have one. Every time they see each other, when Beth is home from college they always find their way back to each other.
But why the no commitment?
Because Beth know that’s it’s just a matter of time before Black Addiction, and Max the bass player will make it big, going global. She will never hold him back. This is what Max has always wanted. So Beth makes the heartbreaking decision to let Max go. It’s time for them to create their own success…..Apart.

Move forward four years. Max and Black Addiction are kicking butt in the music world, while Beth has followed her dream and finally left the Bronx and moved into upscale New York becoming a teacher.
Both Max and Beth have made it.
They have followed their dreams.
But they have never been far from each others thoughts.

But one chance encounter, or would we call it fate will change the course of Max and Beths life forever.
Their worlds are about to collide.
They will come face to face in the most unusual of circumstances.
And when they do , believe me guys you have one explosive read.

They have chemistry.
The need, desire and want is there.
But why is Beth holding back?
Why is she so afraid to give herself to Max?
Can Max chip away the layers of Beths mind and find their happily ever after together?
Or will it all be for nothing?
And who will stand in their way?
Who is lurking in the shadows that wants nothing more than to destroy them?

No that’s it…..That is all I am giving you guys because you have to read Stand….It’s a must.

Again I was completely awe struck, I couldn’t put it down. It was sheer brilliance. Full of emotion, again I found myself laughing my butt off, and I mean tears streaming, page blurring laughing. I held my breath quite a few times yet again, thinking no freaking way, that didn’t, no I must of read it wrong. It was simply captivating in every sense of the word.
And again which I absolutely loved, is the execution of the story. Full of depth I could feel every emotion, every heart break, every comical situation the characters often found themselves in. But what I just loved the most…..The twist, yes guys there is a twist and for the life I me I did not see coming, it blew me away.

Guys seriously a MUST read for everyone. It has everything and so much more. You won’t be disappointed, trust me…..You’ll love it.

If only I could rate this higher….I seriously would this is beyond 5 stars!

DO NOT MISS THIS!

A huge sinfully delicious, heart-felt, lighthearted, I want more 5 star read.
