"I Heart Geeks" is a wonderfully unique anthology edited by Susan Renee Page. Contributors include Stephanie Kayne, Kristyn F. Brunson, Rae Lori, Aria Glazki, Leslie Ann Brown, Layla Kelly, and Bella James. Whereas all the authors did a wonderful job with their contributions, there were three selections that were my favorites -

"Cat-ch Me If You Can, Batman" by Stephanie Kayne is one of my favorites because Julie is a likable character and the story featured just the right amount of humor and geekiness. Who wouldn't want their own Batman?
"In Love & Lore" by Rae Lori is one of my favorites simply because what girl hasn't dreamed about their "knight in shining armor"?
"The Grand Tour" by Leslie Ann Brown is one of my faves because Ian and Penny remind me a bit of a couple I knew during my freshman year and I always thought the two were so cute together.

The stories are quick reads making this book ideal for killing time during short breaks or on commutes (not while driving, of course). I would recommend this book to anyone seeking their fix of short, sweet, yet geeky romance stories. I sincerely hope they come out with a sequel volume.

My copy of this book was obtained from the Goodreads website and I appreciate the opportunity to read and review it.

"A copy of this book has been provided by Indiesage PR in exchange for an honest review"

I LOVE reading the introduction to a book. It gives me a sense of where the author is coming from when they wrote their story and what (or who) influenced them to write it.

The author of the introduction of this anthology is the editor Susan Renee Page.
When I read her introduction my heart was bursting because of what she wrote here:
"...sure there were geeks in a few stories and even some main characters, but the majority of portrayals were unflattering until the inevitable makeover that was necessary to become appealing. To me it seemed like Romance, geeks couldn't be loved as they were.
And I was tired of it!
Thus "I <3 Geeks" was born, an anthology celebrating geeks finding love.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
Be proud. Be geeky. Be you."

 photo keepitrealhomies.gif

After reading this all I thought was, "This woman is a part of my tribe! She "gets" me (corny but true...I had a moment to myself. *sigh*)
ALL the short stories in this anthology feature unique, smart, sassy (and some extreme) characters.
Some of the stories were a little OTT, but hey it's fiction and it was fun to read.

My favorite story, however, was THE GRAND TOUR by Leslie Ann Brown.
It was a little more serious than the rest of the stories in this compilation, and it was wonderfully written.

All in all, I enjoyed every story and hope to read more books like this!

The I <3 Geeks anthology is a solid 4 star collection of short romances that focus on or have some element of geekdom to each story. Most stories were set at, or had some mention of Comic/Gaming conventions, but there were a couple that weren't that still had their own element of nerd to work in this anthology. If you are a girl geek like me, and do not care about having smut in your reads, this collection is for you. For the most part these stories were clean, but a couple had some heat factor. I truly enjoyed all of these stories and am keeping my eye out on these authors.

Cat-ch Me If You Can, Batman - Stephanie Kayne
Cute story of a couple meeting at a Comic Con like convention, as Catwoman and Batman. The convention and cosplay served as a perfectly geeky backdrop to this story of finding love. One of my favorites.

GoldStar - Layla Kelly
A second chance love story, also set at a Comic Con like convention, about childhood best friends who eventually got together in high school right before the H decides to run off to college without saying goodbye. The best part were the tampon references. You must read to know what this means!

In Love & Lore - Rae Lori
A sweet story of two shy gamers who meet at a comic convention. Although a short story, the author did a good job of showing the MCs vulnerabilities when it comes to taking a chance on love.

The Whedonite - Aria Glazki
A cute story of finding love when you aren't looking, with a robotic twist.

Love in Armor - Kristyn F. Brunson
A fast paced story, told in male POV, about finally meeting up with an online gaming female friend at a Game Con. Will it be love when they finally meet in person after hanging out online for the past year?

The Grand Tour - Leslie Ann Brown
The way this story began hooked and reeled me in. I just had to know why the heroine was sneaking into a lab dressed in a too-tight outfit carrying a box of donuts. This story was well written and is not as lighthearted as the others, but I think it is the most interesting and probably my favorite in this collection.

Finding Our Way - Bella James
This was a story about getting back in touch with a high school crush after college and becoming friends. Set on a farm in Texas, this story was sweet, well written, and another favorite of mine.

I Heart Geeks is an anthology of seven, mostly chaste, romance-between-geeks love stories by seven different authors.

The stories are each fun and flirty. Many are set at comic-con events. My favorite exception to that rule is The Whedonite by Aria Glazki; this story is set in a book store {sigh}. While there is a common theme in the setting, each story is delightfully unique.

Cat-ch Me If You Can Batman by Stephanie Kayne was one of my favorites. I mean, who doesn’t love Batman? It is a fun and flirty story.

Goldstar by Layla Kelly is about a second-chance at love with your high school sweetheart. I got a chuckle out of the craft project that wins the girl’s heart.

In Love and Lore by Rae Lori is about gaming geeks and cosplay.

The Whedonite by Aria Glazki involves Dr. Horrible sing-alongs, blind dates with books, and other fun book store events that through a couple neighbors into the mood for romance.

Love in Armor by Kristyn Brunson is about a crush realized after cosplay, geeky trivia games and an ode to the crush presented in a very public setting.

The Grand Tour by Leslie Ann Brown involves the need to convince a geeky scientist to Penny’s sister should receive the experimental treatment he has developed to treat her Kramer’s Syndrome.

Finding Our Way by Bella James is about a horse loving librarian and a high school friend turned rancher. A high school crush turns into love.

Each of these short stories can be devoured on a lunch break. Got a secret crush on geeks? This is the romance anthology for you!

The good thing about anthologies is that if you don’t like the story you are reading, you can move on to the next one. Unfortunately, I found myself doing that a lot with this anthology. I requested it because it showcases a culture I am apart of. I go to cons, I read comics books, and play video games. I even have a twitch account where I stream.

But this just wasn’t what I was looking for. Out of all the stories, I only enjoyed a couple. I felt that many of the characters and situations were cliché and stereotypical. While I understand that those type of people and situations exist, I felt that each story was a repeat of the others. When I say “those people” and “those situations”, I am talking about the anti-social, socially awkward people who are sensitive and easily hurt.

I understand, I get it. Those people need representation, too. But these weren’t the people I wanted to read about. I wanted to read about the happy, friendly, quirky people you can’t help but love. The people who are unapologetic in their love of all things nerdy regardless of what that includes. Most of the protagonists in their stories were fragile and delicate. It seems that every protagonists I read about has been hurt before and is resolved to not love again.

It’s an old tired trope. I wish I would have enjoyed it more. I loathe writing negative reviews, but reading this anthology just frustrated me.

Such a cute book, fast read, I am such a super hero fan ...Love all things Batman, Superman, Superwoman, there is not a superhero I don't love for some reason or other. I wonder why I have not read this book before now, so glad I took to reading it. If you are a lover of all things superheros ... this is a love or romance geeky story for you. I think we all have a bit of a geek in us. Go ahead & let it out. Why not? ( :

I have mentioned my geeky vagina before on an occasion or two. I love everything geek. Geeky characters with their charming quirks, punny humour and pop culture references are my crack. So when I came across the I Heart Geeks Anthology I was all over it and it did not disappoint.

It is absolutely filled to the brim with sweetness and quirk. If you’re looking for short stories with loads of sex and eroticism you won’t find it here but you what you will is a treasure trove of cute couples with great chemistry , short little sugary sweet treats of romance and even some laugh out loud moments.

Favorites:
Ca-tch Me If You Can
Julie is a total introvert and doesn’t do well in crowds. So it is with much trepidation that she is convinced by her best friend to go to a comic convention dressed as cat woman. Once there she embraces the role and even snags herself her very own Batman. But before they can ride off into the sunset, they will have to beat the villain trying to keep them apart.

This one had a lot of punny humour and great chemistry between the characters. Absolutely adorable and yet sexy at the same time. I adored how they stayed I character for most of their story and the things the two did for each other.

Goldstar
Willow is a blogger and dreams of the big time where she gets to write full time about her favorite games, comics and movies. When she is asked to attend the panel of an up and coming movie about her favorite cartoon it must be too good to be true. And it is, because the star of the movie is none other than the boy who broke her heart in high school.

This was a great second chance romance and I loved the fact that the H was all about getting her to give him another chance. I loved Willow’s sass and she certainly wasn’t about to be played for a fool again. The grand gesture to win her back was nothing short of EPIC.

The Whedonite
Mira is a total spaz. She can’t help herself. So when she meets her hot new neighbour she has no illusions that he could ever be interested in her. That is, until he steps into her geeky world.

This was so SO sweet. A slow burn romance that hit all the marks. His willingness and acceptance of all the crazy things in her world was totally endearing and the lengths he went through to help her out were incredibly cute. I loved the little bit of angst this one had to offer.

Finding Our Way
Ainsley has always had a mad crush on Luke. He was the star athlete and everyone’s favorite guy and she was the awkward and shy girl. Now he’s back in town and the two discover that they share a passion for horses and the crush Ainsley had may not have been as one sided as she thought it was.

There was a lot of story packed into this one and it really played on my emotions. These two characters were great together and I adored their meddling families. Luke was a great hero, he was thoughtful and clearly has a thing for Ainsley. If only he can convince her that it’s not a trick.

Again, all the stories in this anthology were just SO cute and I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who love their characters quirky and their romance sweet.

*4.5/5 stars*

First, sorry for the late review, I was supposed to post before yesterday but college kept me busy the last week. And now I have enough time to write.

So... first time I write a review for an anthology. In general, I completely and totally loved it! I'm always up for whatever geek-related thing, and when I saw this book I knew I had to read it. And of course, it didn’t disappoint me, because it was so good.

This time we have seven short stories —all of them with one or two geeks main characters, some settled in a comic convention, and others not, but they still had the nerdy-thing. I really enjoyed every and single story, all their different instant love/chemistry—even the second chances, or just the finally-admittance of their love— were pretty good and sweet, all of them different from the next or previous and by the end I was too sad because all them had finished, most of the time I was hoping there would be more of them, but no :( But it was too short, you know? I know, that is the idea of an anthology, but there were really good plots for books —or at least stories longer than these ones. Anyway, I love it!

I'm happy because I understood most of the references, I have to say that I'm not a lot into comics, but you have to know that not all stories were comic-related, so I was fine, and you’ll be too.

How they fell in love, how they met their lover, how they found love in the ways they did, wow! Also, something I liked was the female characters, these girls knew what they did, knew what they wanted, and such sexy man they all got. Together —each one with his/her couple made my read, a lot much better.

So overall, I liked all these geek short romances, the way all them seem to have all the good parts of this geeky-world, I highly recommend it. By the way, the writing —in general— was good.

Being a wee bit of a geek myself, I am a huge fan of geeky men and pure geek stories. This book was brilliant. It puts together a great few short stories, all of which have great humour and fun to them.

I really liked the characters in each of the stories. Through a variety of ways, talents and hobbies we get to know some quirky, interesting and really sexy geeks. These stories aren't your typical chiselled, perfect, never could exist in real life book boyfriends. These are real, intelligent, cosplay loving gamers, and not is hotter than that.

Each story was short enough to make for a quick read, but still long enough to pack a lot of detail, storyline and love in them. I felt pulled in to each and every one of the stories, reading along as the characters fell together. I felt that each of them were developed well, giving a lot of detail and background, for the length of read.

As a collection of stories, I really liked the variety. Each met in different ways, was into different things and had very different personalities. This meant that each tale was unique and really exciting to read.

Overall, I was really impressed with this book and each story in it. I had a brilliant time reading it and felt it was great to see geeky ones make their own stories. I hope to see another book and will definitely be reading it, when it happens.

I Heart Geeks is a fun anthology of short stories that are all about geeks. Nerds. Girls and guys who like to obsess over superheroes, games, Joss Whedon, etc. A perfect collection of stories for any fangirl (or boy) to read through.

Most of the stories are short, and a lot of them read like fan fiction, which is ok with me, 'cause I love fan fiction. I read it and write it. And that's not a bad thing. These stories are actually quite good, and while reading most of them, I felt like I was geeking out right there with the main character(s). So fun!

Most of the stories do take place at conventions, but there were a couple that did not. The only "geek" elements they had were character's likes and/or names of animals/pets in the stories. But they're still special and romantic and geeky in their own way. I love it!

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because there were some editing errors I noticed, and they did detract a little from my overall enjoyment of the beautiful nerdiness each story was filled with. But, other than that, I enjoyed the stories more than I even expected to.

I highly recommend I Heart Geeks to all the fangirls and boys who love superheroes, gaming, TV shows like Supernatural or Doctor Who, Joss Whedon, and short, sweet romance stories in general. 4 stars!

This anthology! *sighs*

It’s too good for it’s own good. I absolutely, completely, totally adore it!❤

All these cute, little stories about people finding love in the most unusual places are so very heartwarming. You can’t help but love them. They’re so cute and adorable, you don’t really have a choice but to love them. And, yes, I am being completely serious.

They’re just the best. All those cute, little, adorkable moments that you can’t help but love in a relationship? This book is composed out of them. It’s all awkward and sweet and stupid and second guessing and making silly mistakes, but they’re just so cute. I love it. I love all the stories. They’re all equally cute.

The characters are real and natural. You definitely see these people in everyday life. Heck, I am one of those people. Obsessed with a TV show, falling over their feet and completely awkward when it comes to social interaction. Yeah, got me down to a tee.

I definitely recommend this to all of you. Seriously. Doesn’t matter if you’re not into the geeky stuff. Just go and read!

You’ll thank me, I promise!

I <3 Geeks - Anthology
When I was given the opportunity to review I <3 geeks I was really excited I love a good geek romance, I fist pumped when Reading the blurb from these amazing authors. With novellas coming from all aspects of the geek world there were some really cute moments covered with comic conventions being a popular setting.

With geeks as out Heros and Heroines from various settings in life I'm giving this anthology a 3.5. I love an anthology book, it gives you insights into amazing authors and series. Anthology's have given me several authors over the years to add to my never ending TBR, however I just didn't really connect with these stories like I wanted to. The elements were all there, the writing was excellent the stories flowing well and encouraging me to turn the page. However somehow I just couldn't make the connection between myself and the stories moving from like to love.

An enjoyable read and I wish there were more stories out there that hit this genre, maybe in the future geeks will become as chic to the romance world as BDSM, and BBW heroines until then if you enjoy a geek romance this should whet the appetite.

I have a soft spot for geeks, and I was so excited to read this anthology! I always love the stories where the geek gets the HEA, male or female!

This was a very fun read, all the characters unique and awesome in their own ways. They felt very natural and real, people you'd really want to get to know. Awkward and wonderful and sweet! I really enjoyed these stories and honestly there is so much to love! There are super-heros, awesome conventions and geeking out all over the place!

I would definitely recommend this book for a fun read, although low on heat, but enjoyable none the less! I liked the short stories and quick pace of this book. I'm looking forward to see more from these authors.

I heart Geeks is a book of several short stories written by different authors. In each story “the geek” finds love, or their soul mate. The most interesting part of this book is each author views “geeks” a bit differently. To one author a geek is someone who is really smart, but just awkward around the opposite sex. To a couple authors a “geek” was gamers who participated in cosplay.
Each short story was light and entertaining, but my favorite story was either Goldstar by Layla Kelly, or The Grand Tour by Leslie Ann Brown. Or maybe it was Finding Our Way by Bella James. I actually really enjoyed each story and was delighted when the couples worked things out between themselves, even during uncomfortable circumstances. Easy reading, delightful endings and humorous settings.

I will finish this book, by golly! But I will also review it now b/c it is so far back in my teen years, I can pretty much guess the pending shorts coming. These are mostly chaste, wish fulfillment stories perfect for the young adult getting into romance. Many of these stories are similar to those I wrote as a kid. It's a beginner romance book that is a bit cheesy and a lot geeky. I will boost the signal for Goldstar though which ended too soon but definitely resonated.

Perfect mix of geekiness and warm & fuzzies. It filled a niche I didn't know needed filling. The last one was my least favorite and it lost a star for it, but I loved the others.
