May 22, 2017I don't think I'll rate this, because I'm not sure it would be fair.
I really enjoyed the romance portion, but felt overwhelmed by all the skipping around to other family members and the overall story arc of the stone. Because of that I would give this a 3, BUT it has been a while since I read the earlier novels. Much of my problem had to do with not remembering much about the first two books. I was often confused by who was who and so forth. I understand with this being the last book of the series, Crosby had to wrap up the open threads. It seemed a bit rushed to me, then again I'm not so sure how I'd feel if I'd read these one after another.

Highland Storm is by New York Times and USA Today best selling Tanya Anne Crosby, this s book three and finale of the Guardians of the Stones trilogy.
It is another mind blowing masterpiece in my opinion as I have been an enormous fan since 1992, so for 23 years I have been reading Ms. Cosby's book and loving each and every one! I am an avid reader, but I feel such a strong connection to Ms.Cosby's characters and plots like I am interconnected to the wonderful tales especially the Mackinnon's and dún Scoti clans!
Again,Tanya pens another spectacular story, weaving with that golden pen of her's, in her signature style of lush story telling and brilliant writing that will leave readers utterly satisfied yet breathless! One of 2016's best books of the year in my opinion. If you are like me interested in Scottish lore and factual Scottish history layered with an esqusite fictional tale,that will leave you spellbound enchanted and mesmerised then you do not want to miss Highland Storm!
Sadly this is the finale as I have enjoyed this series this immensely and hate to see it end. You can read these novels as a stand alone book too, but I recommend the entire trilogy definitely more fun that way!

In this book the hero is Keane Dún Scotti, younger brother of The Dún Scoti Chieftain, Aiden, (Highland Fire, book 1) decides to find his path and make his own destiny. He know it won't be here, the place he grew up and the one of the last clans of the old ways that keeps to themselves and stay out of Scottish politics as some consider them pechts. Keane decides to leave the vale five years prior to make his own path in life. Of course Una always knows, the old magic women and eldest living guardian of the stone, who was mother and Grandmother, healer, seer and elder to all of the dún Scoti clan. She knew he was meant for another destiny and he would never find it here in the vale, though Keane knew his brother the Laird who never liked change would be furious especially since their sister Lael had recently done the same thing and knew Aiden would feel abandoned but a mon has to make his own path. Plus his sister was about the spit out anther babe and thought he could be useful to her so another wolf of Pechland abandons the vale to make their own destiny in life. As the future and following ones own path is wondrous thing though Keane didn't know it yet a few surprises too and this is how he meets the heroine of this story Lianae the Maid of Moray!
Lianae of Moray, princess of Moray and also one of the last clans that follows the old ways. Now her sister Elspeth was just murdered by her new husband and nearly raped her by her sisters corpse and her brother only talked the monster Earl out of raping her but was allowing the marriage for a political allowance! Well this Princess of Moray was not going to marry this evil monster no matter what his title and her own brother would not help her! So she does what any woman fearing for her life would do and makes a run for it! She is very clever in her escape and goes to a place men fear as many in Scotland still fear the supernatural, fairies and brownies and such so in her wedding gown or her dead sisters wedding gown she escapes! This is how she first meets woad covered Keane dùn Scoti - though she meets his arrow first!
A lot miscommunication and not exactly open but it is fun to watch Keane and Lianae but you see how protective Keane is of her and how he has to make difficult choices. Linae just feeds him half truths about her true identity, but his ragtag group of men in King David's colors cause her not to trust. As she blames David for so much of her heartache and misery just as they become to get close and open their heart someone abducts to returns her to the king wh had ordered the marriage to her sisters murderer! Lianae will do anything to protect herself and Keane will do anything to rescue her in the safety of is arms, but faces the worst type of shock and betrayal that could cost Keane his life!
Highland storm is another phenomenal, quick paced page turning riveting adventure with likeable character that pour off the pages and right into your heart! It is filled with mystery suspense, murder, death, betrayal, forced alliances, heartbreak, romance and of course love. It is an extremely powerful as well as emotional read so get those tissues ready as you shall need them, but to me if I get that emotionally involved in a story I know it's spectacular and exceptional. As always another superbly written Tanya Anne Crosby novel that is always a delight to read! I can't recommend it enough! I absolutely loved this one!

Loved it!!!!!!
I simply can not wait to read the next one!!! If you've read the others, this book is about the brother of Aidan, from book 1, Keane, and a woman that he meets. More of King David of Scotland, and all the families, and people surrounding the main characters. I gave up sleep to finish this, very well worth it!!!!

If you are a fan of this series, try to read all three back to back to enjoy the most from them. I should have done this, but didn't and paid the price of forgetting who was related to whom and why certain characters were doing like trying to get even, or marrying or even relinquishing their castles, forming armies....
I wanted romance and a good story like the first book, instead I found out how forgetful I am given a year between books. Tanya Crosby, the author really delves into her love of a Scottish theme and even has a glossary at the back of the book for their language. Heavens, I could have used this in linguistics class for material!

Every Tanya Anne Crosby book gets my heart pounding and maybe skipping a beat out of panic,and this book is no different. The stakes were very high for all of the characters.
Lianae at the beginning of the story had almost been raped by the man who her brother was going to let marry her, the same man who had just married and killed her sister.
So of course Lianae runs. In her wedding dress with no shoes out into the freezing cold rough landscape. She might be running but she is tough.
She is "found" by Keane and his men who have no idea who she is or who she is running from. Still Lianae and Keane are extremely attracted to him. He tries to take care of her, even cutting his own clothes to create foot coverings for her bloody feet.
There is a lot going on in this book and I was lost in it because I didn't read the book before it. I feel like the Cameron story was so vague. I understood that he wanted to wed someone, but why did he get so upset when Keane took leadership? Why did he not tell Keane the truth that he knew?
What was the story with Constance about? And Una? And the stone? I feel like I read a comic book that was like issue 7 of a 24 book arc. Yes I got the whole arc of Lianae and Keane, but it just left me with so many questions.
I hated that Lianae had to lie to save herself, but as I already said she is a survivor. If its saving herself and upsetting you, she is still doing it. So she said that she had sex with Keane. Okay well first she said horrible things, I don't know why Tanya Anne Crosby had her accuse him like that, but I will forgive Lianae because I know what she had been through.
Those lies put a huge barrier between Lianae and Keane that have to be torn down stone by stone. First Keane learns she is not actually pregnant ( I really do not think that method could ever happen. Hello tampons?), then she dresses as a warrior to defend their realm.

Okay..so the heroine is running away from an unwanted wedding stealing someone's jewels.. and she hids in some scary place where the hero finds her..she doesn't trust him and give him half truths..which by the by others are able to decipher.she is held captive by the king, where she lies and then the hero and heroine are married..
I totally she is strong and all..and then nothing..
The hero does things he feels are right and all such stuff.. he hates her for her lies..and when he tells his family he married because he was in love...he realizes he is love..that's the most ridiculous thing.. apart from the heroine running for two days without shoes in winters and only when the hero finds her does her feet start freezing..really the hero is cold..not hot..
Even the end didn't really make much sense to me..it was all like mixed up..
So for me it was not that entertaining as the author's book are generally..

It absolutely broke my heart to have Keane and Aidan on the outs! Honestly, that was more traumatic and dramatic for me than the rest of the goings on in this book. I also didn't feel like their relationship was ever fully addressed. After loving Aidan so much in his book, it was disappointing to see his depiction here.
As for our heroine, she never really did it for me. I was not able to connect with her like I have with other characters.
As with the rest of the series, the historical detail was unbelievable! I loved the interactions and intrigue of watching David figure out to do next and the way that he impacted the other characters, both new and old.

Lianae fled the Earl of Moray, William Fitz Duncan of Kinneddar Castle. She was next to marry the Earl but he had killed her sister and she didn’t want to be the next. She made it to the Lilidbrugh ruins where Keane and his followers found her. Later confessing to the King that Keane had had sex with her and she was with babe the King made them marry. Through the marriage Keane and she did fall in love and had a son.

This was a free book. I did not read the books before this. The story was good, but the repetitive thoughts dragged on and on. I flipped over a lot of it to get back to the action.
I don’t understand why she didn’t explain her lies before or right after they wed. I couldn’t read how he felt deceived by her lies because it was stupid. Have an actual conversation and everything would be fine.

WOW! THE BEGINNING OF THIS BOOK IS POTENT. WHEN LIANAE'S SISTER IS MURDERED IN HER WEDDING BED, THE MURDERER IMMEDIATELY CLAIMS LIANAE'S HAND IN MARRIAGE. IT'S A GREAT SCENE WHEN LIANAE ESCAPES AND RUNS TO KEANE, AIDEN'S BROTHER. TRIAL AND TRIBULATIONS, WONDERFUL CHARACTERS THAT PULL THE SAVING OF THE GUARDIANS OF THE STONE. EVENTHOUGH LIANAE AND KEANE'S START HAD LOTS OF TWISTS AND TURNS, IT WAS A WONDERFUL ROMANTIC STORY. THANK YOU!

The romance part and the family relations were a good story by themselves, but the rest with the fight for the throne and the guardian stone gets a little too dry for my taste..

I really love this story and I loved Keane and Lianae. Unfortunately, there were a lot of other subplots on this romance tied to the series that either took away from time alloted to the MCs and also some that didn’t feel resolved at all. Like, what about the stone? What about Kellen and Constance? What about Cameron and Cailin? So many unanswered questions and it’s a bit frustrating.

I'm enjoying this series
The story has so many ups and downs that you won't want to put it down until the last page. Ms. Crosby has woven a tale of intrigue and love it works so well.

Was a confusing book. The last of a trilogy without a definitive ending. Seems characters are still wondering around unsure of where they are or are they just promptly deleted.

Exciting Historical Romance
This was a good book. I have to rest my eyes more but I got it finished. Know people had a hard time during the early years of Scotland ‘s history but it is interesting.

I absolutely adored the first two books in this series. This one, however, didn’t have the depth and tightness that made the previous stories shine.
