The early issues of this comic are kind of goofy, which isn't that surprising for a 1970s low budget comic just starting out. The story lines don't develop much tension, and the resolutions to the "major national security threats" largely get resolved by Captain Canuck just punching people.

However, around issue 10 the story lines actually start to become more complex and interesting. Canuck's battles with the aliens and being sent back in time, while still somewhat cartoonish, display an increasing sophistication as Canuck and co. begin to encounter ethical problems rather than just criminals.
