In times past, the world was full of mythical creatures - creatures long since banished and held at bay by the secret society of Shepherds. But when the generational line of Shepherds is broken, a reluctant hero finds her life threatened from every quarter. And the creatures are coming back...
This second half of "Lore" has very little sequential art and is dominated by lengthy tedious writing. I must admit that T.P Louise writes great characters into the blah/meh story-line.
Like I mentioned in my review of Volume 1, I bought these as single issues. Again, I am assuming that this book collects issues 4 to 6 and I'm sure would merit at least 4 and maybe even 5 stars. BUT, IDW, the publisher never published issue number 6, opting instead to publish it within the pages of this Volume. Although I've double-dipped in the past on good series, I still had complete series in multiple format. I might have even double-dipped and bought the hardcover version of this full series... but for some reason, I feel cheated that issue 6 never came out as a single and refuse to give my money to a company that I felt cheated me, so there. Petty? Maybe. But that's the way it's gonna be.
This was almost all text, with only the occasional illustration or here and there a few pages of graphic story. That's okay, except the text was A) scattered and doesn't always make much sense, B) full of typos, misused words (ie. hapless instead of haphazard), and weird inaccuracies (I don't think that molotov cocktails made with champagne would be very effective), and C) kind of ends in the middle of the story. Not a great follow-up to the first half of the series.
