The adventures of the Wilson sisters in the American West.
This is the third book from bestselling author and television star Kelly Wilson. Kelly's first two books, For the Love of Horses and Stallion Challenges were full of stories from the Wilsons' quest to save wild Kaimanawas from the government cull.
This time the Wilsons are taking on a new challenge, to tame mustangs at a ranch in Wyoming for competition in the Extreme Mustang Makeover. Join the Wilsons as they take on an adventure with a surprising twist, and a horse trek across six states in the American west.
Born in Whangamata, Kelly Wilson relocated to Northland with her family at the age of five. Having grown up around horses, she competed in show jumping to Pony Grand Prix level, before focusing on her creative talents. She won a scholarship to Auckland University of Technology and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Graphic Design, going on to become an award-winning photographer and designer. She is the bestselling author of four adult books, For the Love of Horses, Stallion Challenges, Mustang Ride and Saving the Snowy Brumbies, a children's picture book Ranger the Kaimanawa Stallion and a junior chapter book series Showtym Adventures. With her sisters Vicki and Amanda, Kelly has starred in the hit-rating TV series, Keeping up with the Kaimanawas, following their work taming New Zealand's wild Kaimanawa horses, and travelled to America and Australia to rescue and tame wild horses.
The story of the American Mustang and a group of Kiwi girls will always appeal to my inner horsemad girl. Some of the photography and insights into the life of American mustangs in comparison to our Kaimanawas is thought provoking, powerful and makes for a great story. However I am starting to find the storytelling a bit limited and while I appreciate that it doesn't cross the line into soppiness, it does feel like reading a diary and I sometimes want something more. Still an okay read and I am sure it will be extremely popular.
Wow, besides the fact that Kelly has amazing writing, the Wilson sisters adventures have once again left me trailing in the dust with my jaw on the ground. I hope they know about the impact they have had on riders worldwide and how they have inspired them to further their riding abilities, to adventure beyond the confinements of their schooling arena, and building relationships with their horses based on trust not fear and forced submission. There is so much more that I have learned, and not only has it has changed me as a rider but as a person. These sisters are incredible!!
Okay, I guess what I'm trying to say is that rider or non-rider, you have to read these books! I recommended them with my whole being.😂
Loved reading this book!!! I especially really enjoyed looking at all the pictures in it♥️ It’s such an incredible story about incredible people that are so so passionate about horses! I’m really glad the world has people like the Wilson sisters in it as they have inspired me loads with my own horses! A MUST READ!!!!!!!
This is a truly inspiring book about the Wilson sisters, Vickey, Kelly and Amanda’s 100 days in the USA training wild Mustangs. After reading Kelly Wilson’s book “For the Love of Horses” and watching the TV series of these young New Zealand girls train wild Kaimanawas horses it is wonderful to follow them and their success with these wild horses.
