There’s no pause button in life? Ha! She’s just the fabulously fluffy werefeline to create one.
Hannah Buchanan is the oldest daughter to the Buchanan werelion clan leader, twin to Katie Buchanan, and… and blah, blah, blah. Hannah is a lot of things, but she refuses to be defined by her family and their connections. She’s more than an honorable, fertile womb destined for a political mating.
So she’s pressing the paws button and retreating to Deals Gap, North Carolina. Her adopted werebunny sister calls the small town home and it’s the perfect place for Hannah to hide. Then she meets the gaze of one green-eyed, black-haired, sexy as all get out werelion-wolf hybrid. He calls to her lioness like no one before. And, well, he should since… he’s her true mate!
Too bad for Hannah, her contracted mate followed her to Deals Gap and is determined to have her—even if it means murdering her true mate first. Will her mixed-breed mate be able to take down a pureblood werelion? Or will Hannah end up in a political mating after all?
Another quick true mate read. I didn't like it quite as much as the first. I felt Hannah was really shallow at first. She did grow on me and I like how she supported Ryland. This one wasn't as funny to me as the first and had a little sadder/darker feel given Ryland's past. But it was still funny and they get their HEA.
Celia Kyle is, without a doubt, one of my “go-to” authors for Bathtub Books (those books you crawl into a hot tub with, complete with candles, wine and chocolates no the side). Her Ridgeville Series is, so far, my favorite by far. Maya is a hoot! The Grayslake series is another favorite bathtub/bedtime read. There are others, from Hot Shifter romances to Hot Aliens… whatever your tastes!
Now, there is “The Buchanan Clan”. Three sisters, daughters of the premiere Alpha Lion in the world, it’s time for the Buchanan girls to find their mates. There is excitement. There is a bloody fight. There is the obligatory HEA, much in the manner of Celia’s “Quick &Furry” series.
26047931The first, “Impawsible“, is Bethany’s story. You see, Bethany has a problem. She is a rare white rabbit shifter amongst lions. NOT a comfortable place to be! When she was little, all the boys wanted to chase her, first to see if they could literally scare her to death, and then to see if they could have her for an appetizer. Literally. Well, the second would be accomplished if the first succeeded, so what’s the dif’? But when they boys decide that there is a third option as she gets older, well, Deal’s Gap, North Carolina, “The Neutral Zone” where the oddballs and hybrids of the shifter world reside, becomes the perfect place to hide.
Oops.
The past comes back to haunt her, and well, read it and find out!28929344
In the second of the series, just published, we return to Deal’s Gap and the Buchanan girls with “Press Paws”, Hanna and Ryland’s story.
Hannah has always been the “good girl”, no matter her snarky ways and toenail polish obsession (which she spills onto her sister’s newly refinished deck in the first hour of her arrival in Deal’s Gap. Thank goodness Bethany and Carter are on their honeymoon!) Intent on finding a handyman to fix her “oops”, she comes across Ryland – and all bets are off when it comes to the arranged marriage her father and the head of the Lachlan clan set up.
Again, the past comes to haunt Hannah and Ryland, complete with claws, fangs, and a nasty attitude.
Celia is always good for a few things, no matter what she is writing. There is love, of course. But also a bit of action, some giggles and downright belly laughs, and a great deal of heart. If you haven’t found her yet, I recommend her for a cozy, relaxing read!
I received both of these books from the author in exchange for a realistic review. All thoughts are my own. Thank you for reading my review!
A fun fast paced read, that went just where you hoped it would.
Love the reference to 'brass overies' by Hannah, she is quite correct she doesn't have balls but she is fierce. I also liked the phrase Hannah used 'Tall glass of favoured vitamin enriched water' such a wonderfully 'city girl' way of phrasing 'A tall glass of water'.
One of my favourite things about all of Celia's works is they way she phrases things, she does it in a way that I can completely identify with.
I've been sick so I've just been picking books to see if I can find something that would keep me busy I thought this would be cute because it was southern shifters after all I am from the south. It was another so so book got me interested so I read it.. starts out with Hannah whose father is the pride leader of the wearlion clan.. she's how fitting for her sister when she gets nail polish all over there nicely done new porch. She needs a handyman and when she meets the handyman she knows she's in trouble he's a werelion halfbreed, hybrid really because he's part wolf. The story is kind of cute I kind of enjoyed it have to because Hannah is so funny. 😜 One of those if you want to say you go girl lol.
Hannah Buchanan is taking a time-out. She just wants to get away from her family and her arranged engagement for awhile, so she's house sitting for her sister and new brother-in-law. Hannah is looking for a handyman to do repairs at her sister's house. What she finds is her handyman mate, Ryland. What is Hannah and Ryland to do about the fiance and the trouble she's creating for her father by canceling the wedding? Love the characters, their sexy and fun interactions and how far they go to be together.
This is a great read. Hannah goes to her sister 's house in Deal's Gap to house sit and to escape from a Jeremy her political mate when she literally bumps into her one and true mate Ryland. Hannah does the brown up thing and runs back to her sister 's and the chase is on.
Enjoyable novella continues the Buchanan pride sage. Hannah and Ryland must prove stronger than prejudice and hate. Interesting twist at the end. Hopefully sparking new tales.
Laugh out loud funny with mayhem, a fight or two, a bad guy, tons of steam and a HEA. I absolutely loved this book.
I love Celia Kyle's books, I've been reading them for years and she's one of my favourite authors. 'Press Paws' is the second book in her new series, The Buchanan Clan, as well as being her latest addition to Eliza Gayle's multi-author Southern Shifters series of stand alone paranormal romances for Amazon's Kindle Worlds. I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review and I was hooked on this story and laughing my socks off from the very first page. I absolutely loved it.
Pampered werelion Hannah Buchanan really doesn't want to marry Jeremy Lachlan, she wants her true mate, not that she'd actually met him yet, but being the eldest daughter of the clan head, she's been set up for a marriage with a virtual stranger to try to curb hostilities between the two clans. Not seeing any way out of it, she decides to get off the merry-go-round for a couple of weeks and goes to Deal's Gap where she practically pushes her sister Bethany and her mate Carter out the door for a honeymoon, whether they want one or not, but the easy-peasy house-sitting isn't nearly as easy as she thought.
Her day is off to a really poor start and I just couldn't stop laughing, from mishaps with nail varnish to the death of the badly smoking and squealing eco friendly car, the cantankerous old tortoise in the hardware store and blindly walking into the solid wall of hunk that turned out to be her true mate, and yep... running away, my stomach muscles ached so much from laughing it felt like I'd spent a couple of hours doing ab crunches at the gym instead of lounging around reading a book.
Werelion/werewolf hybrid and handyman Ryland Evans was so shocked to find he actually had a true mate it took him a minute to realise she'd just run away. He eventually follows, but then starts to think that she could do so much better than him. Nobody had wanted him his whole life, and now he's in two minds about claiming his mate. She's having none of that and he has some serious demons to come to terms with but eventually decides, selfish or not, he has to have Hannah. Then the fun really begins....
I loved this book. This terrific paranormal romance was laugh out loud funny, filled with terrific characters and mayhem, with a fight or two, a bad guy, the hunkalicious hero, the feisty heroine, tons of steam and a happily ever after, what more could you ask for. I really can't wait for the next one, but I'll be reading this one again first. It was fantastic and I really wish I could give it more than the 5 star maximum allowed. The only down side is that, sadly, Kindle Worlds books are only available in the US, so an awful lot of international fans will be missing out on an absolutely terrific book.
Running away from a future our heroine doesn't want, she runs smack dab into her mate. Too bad the one who thought he owned her didn't believe the message. Good thing her true mate is there.
I really enjoyed this story! It picks up right where the first Buchanan book ends almost. Hannah is the sister to Bethany and Ryland is the half-brother to Carter. Hannah is not happy with where her life is headed right now. She isn't sure what to do and so has headed to Deal's Gap to press pause on life while she house sits for her sister while she's on her honeymoon. Ryland is the handyman in town and when Hannah spills nail polish all over the patio she heads in for help. When she meets Ryland, they are both immediately drawn to each other and know that they are mates but Hannah was not expecting this since she is already contracted to marry someone else. (Her father set it up for the good of the pride.) Hannah runs back to her sister's place, and wants her mate to chase her even though she ran. He follows through and sneaks up on her. I loved the interactions between the two characters and it had me cracking up a couple of times. Hannah is a no nonsense person and an alpha female. When Ryland tries to get away with some things or puts himself down because he doesn't feel worthy, Hannah will have nothing to do with it. She lets him have it and we see her protective, alpha female instincts come out. I love the hybrid mix that Celia Kyle has come up with. The way that she has mixed the traits is awesome, especially how she lets us know how the two animals affect one another and the human. This story flowed really well and since the beginning is pretty much on go the entire time. There is always something going on as Ryland and Hannah try and adjust to the huge change in their lives and figure out each other and how to make an us. The sex is explicit, with a whole lot of sexual tension. Circumstances keep them from completing the mating for a lot of the book but it's done really well. This story doesn't have a whole bunch of secondary characters and the ones that are there don't interact person to person very much. This didn't detract from the story at all as it fit the scenario really well. This story is a quick read. It is part of the Southern Shifters Kindle World and the second book in the Buchanan Clan series but I felt that it stood alone. You don't need to have read any of the other stories before reading this or have to read any after this to have a complete story. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for more.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
In this book we get more of Hannah's story and we are introduced to Ryland. Hannah as you remember from Impawsible is one of the Buchanan Clan twins. Hannah is running from something as well as someone. See Hannah and Jeremy Lahlans fathers decided the best way to end the old feud is to bond their children together. However this is not what Hannah wants and after her adopted sister Bethany is able to find her HEA with her mate, Hannah isn't sure she can settle anymore. So she agrees to house-sit while her sister and new brother-in-law are off on their honeymoon. However she has a little trouble and needs to find a handyman because lets face it she knows her limitations and this is one of them. Little did she know that not only would she find someone to help her fix her mistake on the porch but her true mate as well. But how can she when she is still engaged to Jeremy. Will Hannah go after what her heart wants or be the good girl and keep the promises her father made with her life?
Ryland never thought he would find a mate let alone have her run into him. However while at the hardware store that is exactly what happens. Of course things have never been easy for Ryland so why would his first meeting with his mate be any different. Ryland knows nothing will fulfill him like marking his mate and showing her she should be his. However there is this nagging little voice in his head that says he isn't good enough and that his mate won't truly want him. Can Ryland deal with the ghosts from his past to have a future with Hannah?
I am a huge fan of this authors and this book does not disappoint. This book can be read as a stand alone but to understand who some of the other characters that are spoken about I would advise that you read book 1. In this book the author shows us the difference between loyality and love. Sure you need both in a relationship but that should be with the person you are meant to be with. Hannah fights with the thought of not doing or being enough for her father, with the knowledge that she also has to be true to herself. This is a great book that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I want to tell you more but don't want to ruin any of the surprises in the book for other readers. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
This got some really mixed reviews. I think people are forgetting that this is part of the Kindle Worlds and its not like her typical stories. They are shorts. You would know that by looking up the Kindle Worlds and all the authors who participate. I get its a bit confusing. I was at first too. Each author is writing a set of stories. We dont know how many but its surrounding a place called Deals Gap and its about all kinds of different shifters who may or may not be misfits or half breeds or cross breeds. Many many characters. So...keep an open mind y'all!
I enjoyed reading about Hannah and Ryland. I felt so bad for him! Poor guy...my heart broke for him. I admit Hannah's a bit much to take but I grew to like her. I loved the story and it was a bit different. Still love Angus and Fiona lol. Best parents ever! Poor Ryland didnt have that and I felt for him. Hes sweet and so sensitive but bad ass too! :) Sexy...whew! I'm pretty sure we will be getting another book from this clan because there is the other twin Katie! :) I'm just wondering what Carter and Bethy will think once they get home to see the damage lol. Unless they repair it before they come home that is! That wasnt included in the story so who knows. This wasnt a 5 star for me because I think there could have been a little more character development especially concerning Ryland. I wanted to know him a little more otherwise I liked it.
Hannah has gotten herself into a pickle. She has agreed to do something and now can’t figure out how to get out of it. So she runs. Never expecting to add to her troubles. In Press Paws by Celia Kyle, Hannah finds the mate she didn’t know she was waiting for in Ryland. Now to tell him she is engaged to someone else. This will not end well. I found myself enjoying Hannah’s antics as she learned to accept what Ryland would be to her currently chaotic life. She doesn’t care he is a hybrid. Unfortunately Ryland does. Can she help her mate accept both sides of his nature? Ryland wasn’t expecting his mate to practically drop into his lap. But he isn’t fighting what she means. Convincing her on the other hand may take some doing. Ms. Kyle again gives us a story with giggles. I enjoyed both Hannah and Ryland. Their give and take added depth to their relationship. They may be fated but they both wanted more and fought for it. Ryland had to learn to accept the complete predator he is. Hannah had to stop running and accept the future fate had in mind for her. I loved the chemistry between Ryland and Hannah. I loved the support of Hannah’s family. I wanted them to move beyond their issues and grab their happily ever after. This story was a wonderful addition to this series and I can’t wait for Ms. Kyle to take us back to Deals Gap. Four Twinkling Stars
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Hannah Buchannan is in Deal's Gap to regroup. She is engaged to Jeremy Lachlan. A lion shifter like herself, yet Hannah doesn't really know or like Jeremy. And most importantly, Jeremy is not Hannah's truemate. She is house-sitting for her sister Bethany and mate Carter. Hannah is out on the deck painting her nails and accidentally spills polish on the deck, which Carter had just finished working on. She is in serious trouble. Hannah decides to go into town and try to find a handyman to fix the damage, without her brother-in-law finding out. After an odd altercation the hardware store owner's she is told the handyman is at the store picking up supplies, and runs smack into her truemate, Ryland Evans. Ryland happens to be her brother-in-law's half-brother. Ryland is also a hybrid, half-wolf half-lion. Things for Hannah are definitely looking up, b/c now she doesn't have to mate Jeremy. Hannah leaves it to her sister, Katie to break the news to their parents and Jeremy that she has found her mate. Jeremy shows up in a rage to fight Ryland. Then, Hannah's parents and twin, Katie arrive to welcome Ryland into the fold. This was a great book, can't wait to read the next one.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
These books are short, sexy, smutty reads that do not disappoint. They can all absolutely be read as standalone but you get a better understanding of the character dynamics if you have devoured all the books by this author (as I have).
Hannah, the sister to the last book’s main character, is hiding out in the small town of Deals Gap. While her sister is on a honeymoon of sorts, she’s trying to reconcile her own goals with where her life has led her. She’s agreed to mate with another powerful leader, but it isn’t making her happy. Sure, she’s got a powerful, well-known family, but she is determined to not let that define her existence.
Hannah’s vacation takes a quick turn when she suddenly discovers her true mate. Her mate is just as determined as expected, but has his own baggage. As a hybrid with some negative experiences with pure bloods, this couple has some hurdles to get over before they get a HEA. Oh, and there’s the small problem of her having already agreed to mate someone else, too. Don’t worry, though, because these two find a way to juggle their own expectations, families, and their undeniable attraction.
The Buchanan Clan #2 Press Paws was a fun, easy read. I related easily to Hannah (well other then the turning furry part...) I often just want to escape for a few days and press pause on life. Hannah needs time away to get her head in the game to marry the Lachlan Clan heir Jeremy. Her ideas of a true mate need to be put aside in order to do as her father asks and strengthen the bond thru marriage between the two packs. She heads to Deals Gap to house sit for her sister while her sister and her new mate are on their honeymoon. She's enjoying the peace when she has a little accident and goes looking for the town handyman. She meets the gorgeous man and quickly realizes he is her true mate. He also happens to be her sisters new mates brother Ryland. Let the fun begin! They have the usual hurdles of communication and the old I'm not good enough for you moments but it stays fun and easy to read. Mild angst- nothing heavy at all! Of course there is the big moment when Ryland realizes he is worthy and that perhaps he was made exactly as he was needed to be. It's always a happily ever after with Celia, so my kind of books. A four star read for me. This book was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review
I love these short stories. They are perfect for a work week night when I need to unwind and don't have time to get involved in a longer story. They make me laugh. I love shifter stories and combinations are great. I enjoy how she pulls them all together in a make shift family. The family dynamics are always so down to earth. Hannah seems a little scatterbrained at first but when she is focused on something it is absolute. She know was what she want and knows that she will give in on somethings but not all. That will keep her mate on his toes. Ryland is a great guy. I love his back story and how even when he doubts himself, Hannah never doubts it. A lion/wolf hybrid was great and you can't help but smile when he was his tail. I liked to see him come into his own and realize he was worth it. They are a cute couple and should be interesting to see what happens next in this kindle world. I received a copy for an honest review.
Awesome love story! I love the humor Ms. Kyle uses in this story.
In this 2nd book of the series Bethany's stepsister Hannah, the lion clan princess goes to visit her sister to get away from a forced mating with a neighboring lion clan alphas son. Hannah didn't expect what happens next, after ruining her sisters porch floor she decides to go into town and get a handyman to fix it before her brother in law sees it. After all she is a spoiled princess and can't fix anything.
Ryland a hybrid lion/wolf is very damaged by a terrible childhood until he finds his half brother, Bethany's mate and things start to feel better for him. But he can't come to terms with having found his mate, in the form of a spoiled princess, he thinks he won't be accepted by her. Will the princess accept him and convince him that he is more special than he gives himself credit for?
Love can conquer all is the special message in this story.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I'm really liking this series mainly because of the unique hybrids. Of course we have Hannah our diva pure blood lioness but then we have Ryland our grumpy blue collar lion/wolf hybrid. ***sigh*** I don't know about everybody else but I love the thought of a silver lion who occasionally "wags" his tail. This is CK doing her short(er) story justice. There's plenty of humor (mainly Hannah), a tad bit of violence, and all kinds of anticipation before we get to the sexy times. I will forever be complaining that I want full length stories from CK, but on a day where I'm busy and don't have the time to fully commit this was a perfect length. The question she leaves us with though... is will we get another story when Ryland takes his rightful spot?
Oh this was a good one. All Celia Kyle's books are awesome, but I wish they were longer. They are such fast reads, but if you looking for something fun and fast to read her books are just the mark.
Katie Buchanan was destine to a loveless arranged marriage, until she decides to take a paws and actually runs into her fated mate. Happy times, right? Well it would be if she wasn't already engaged. So what does Katie do....? she runs, of course. Ryland, Katie's mate, doesn't let her run to far away. He sets chase and follows. He isn't about to let what fate has handed him get too far away. Good thing too since Katie's intended isn't taking the break up too well.
Again, I love Celia Kyle's work. I have nothing but praise to sing to her. This was a fun read, and I can't wait for the next one.
*a copy of this ebook was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
A lovely short second instalment in this series. Well this storyline picked up nearly straight after book one which this book mirrored but with Ms Kyle’s usual humorous twist which made it enjoyable I just loved Ryder, a lion/wolf hybrid. I wanted to weep when he spoke of his childhood. OMG I so want to see his shifted form, a SILVER lion that wags his tail, WOW. Hannah we met in book one and she was just as crazy good as I hoped for, loved the dialogue with her lion, pity about the ex-fiancée being an idiot. Too stubborn people both with different upbringings, one silver spoon, one lucky to be alive. Love the Buchanan father, he is so cool. Hope we get a follow up in the future with Ryder taking his rightful place. All in all another good read. I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Press Paws (Southern Shifters: Kindle Worlds) by Celia Kyle
Hannah Buchanan needs to get away......Press pause....well, paws. Get away from Jeremy, who is not her true mate, but she is suppose to mate and his family. House sitting for her sister is the perfect answer. She never expected to find her mate in Deals Gap.
Ryland Evans is handyman and a hybrid. Raised to believe that he was less for being half wolf and half lion, he is in total shock to discover his true mate is a purebred lioness. From a very powerful family and pride. Even more shocked to find out she is engaged. Not only will he have to win over her family, but he will have to win against another prides heir. Hannah is worth it though.
I really enjoy the stories with the Buchanan family. Hannah is house sitting while her sister is away on her honeymoon. She is trying to decide if she wants to go ahead with her arranged mating while polishing her toenails. OOPS she spills nail polish on her sister's deck. Deciding she needs to get a handyman to clean it up (why not use nail polish remover?) she goes to town She literally runs into said handy man Carter and finds out he's her mate. Her lion is happy Hannah runs scared. At first I didn't like Hannah too much. She seemed too helpless and wishy-washy. After getting together with Carter, she starts to become a stronger person. I really liked Carter's silver lion with wolf traits.
Hannah Buchanan is avoiding her responsibilities, by going to the town of Deals Gap. She came look after her sister's home while she is on honeymoon. Hannah has agreed to mate with the heir of a clan that her clan has been feuding with, for the benefit of the clans. That was until she spilled her nail varnish. Ryland Carter is the town handyman, and a wolf/lion hybrid with a chip on his shoulder against pureblood werelions. This is a sexy, fun story. I could not live with Hannah's brain she is exhausting. She thinks at high speed. Luckily Ryland is calm and quiet, until the danger threatens. Deals Gap has a lot of very unusual shifters. Good fun.
Irreverent shifter story. Has a sense of humour. This one failed to grab me but I can't hold that against it because it could simply be the mood I'm in. I found I was not able to warm to the characters and I admit to scanning the pages after about 15-17% till the end. I stopped to read a few pages here and there. I found the tone of the story and the characters remained consistent throughout, which is great if you are loving it, it just wasn't for me.
I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Sorry that this one just didn't really do it for me.
Hannah decided to visit and house sit for her newly married sister while the married couple went on their honeymoon. While relaxing and painting her nails she accidentally spilled nail polish on her sisters porch. Needing a handyman to sand and polish the wood back to it former condition, Hannah met Ryland. The hunky and very sexy handyman that just so happen to be the cousin of her new brother-in-law. The adventure begins when she discovers she is his mate. Definitely five stars!
Hannah has found her very intense Mate! And not how she thought it would happen. Just hanging out at Bethany & Carter's place, trying to figure out what to do with the plans for her life. They're not necessarily the ones she's made for herself.
Celia Kyle writes about Hot, Sexy Lion/Wolf Shifters in this story. She can actually write about any kind of Shifter & I'll read it!! Laughter, sex, suspense, & family are all the best parts of a great story!! Thank you!
Loved it. The series just keeps getting better and better. Hannah maybe the eldest Buchanan sister in her clan but she really is not a pampered princess. She will fight for her mate with tooth and claws. Her mate Ryland is such a sweetheart. He does not think he is good enough for Hannah but she will soon set him straight. Thank you to Celia Kyle for the excellent review copy. So looking forward to the next book in this series.
