Lettura consigliata!
Grace is the daughter of the lady who helped take care of Ruby's mother. After Ruby's mom died, Grace has to leave and ends up as a mail order to Dawson. He and his brother Ben own the land office.
Dawson is a tortured soul. He blames himself for something that was not his fault, but it's something that has him a broken man. He drinks himself into oblivion every night and suffers with nightmares every time he tries to sleep. He finds comfort through a friend named Lily who is a saloon girl....
When he and Grace meet, there's immediate attraction and chemistry. However, on their wedding night after she's in bed, he leaves for his nightly time spent with Lily... ugh! I had a very hard time dealing with that fact! He seemed so happy and pleased with Grace, but then leaves her to spend the night in the care of a saloon girl? Thankfully, Grace had a more understanding and forgiving persona than I would!
Through Grace's patience and love, she is able to help Dawson recover.
Grace arrived to be a mail order bride knowing that her husband's business had financial problems. As an accountant, Grace was sure she could find the problem and a solution for the problem. She quickly learned that the solution may not be as easily found as she thought.
When she arrived she found Dawson asleep at his desk in his office. He seemed to be having a nightmare. She woke him but he seemed disoriented. Later after falling asleep again, Grace heard the office door close and went out to see where Dawson was going. He seemed to be sleep walking and went straight to the saloon and was met by a woman.
What was going on? Was he unfaithful before they even married? It turned out he was having nightmares because of a fatal event that happened on one of his properties. Would Dawson and Grace solve the mystery? Read and find out.
Grammar and wrong word choices all through this book made it difficult to finish.
You don’t have livid dreams. You have vivid dreams. You don’t tally with another woman. You dally. Something doesn’t abode well. It doesn’t bode well. How long has the three houses been empty? How about have?
And so many more.
A good copy editor will make this a much better book
This is such a sweet and enjoyable series. I am enjoying all of these stories. Grace and Dawson are two of my favorite characters. i met Dawson in another of Cyndi Raye's stories. Did not like him but I did not understand everything he was going through. That is part of why I love series, you get to learn more about a character than you might if he is not one of the protagonist. Grace and Dawson are perfect for each other. They bring out the best in each other.
Again this follows the format for a mail order bride story as per the previous story "Ruby". I do enjoy this type of book, especially as it is part of a series where interconnected characters appear from one to the next so that you can hear their story as well.
I loved Grace. She is determined and feisty Dawson doesn't know what but him when comes into his life. I am so glad I found this series on Kindle Unlimited. I can't wait to read the next one in this series. Happy ☺reading 📚!
I love these mail order bride stories. I read the first in this series and this second book is just as good. I enjoy historical stories set in Texas. A book that would appeal to men and women.
Another good book in a great series. I have really enjoyed the characters of Wichita Falls. Cyndi Raye does a good job of bringing them to life on the pages.
Dawson has been having nightmares ever since an incident happened that wasn't his fault. He's started drinking every night hoping to get so drunk that the dreams will stop. Grace is a young woman with a college degree in accounting. She loves working with numbers. She decides to travel from New York City to Wichita Falls to become a mail-order bride to Dawson. Will she be able to help Dawson get over his nightmares and get his business back in the Black or will Dawson reject her and drink himself to death? Ms Raye has written a sweet romance that everyone will enjoy. However, the book was poorly edited and has quite a few grammatical errors. If you can get past those, you'll really enjoy this book.
