~ A Bad Boy, Reunion/Second Chance, Mafia Romance ~
Alannah Sullican met Dominic Collazo when she was only in the fifth grade. She knew him when the other kids called him names and made fun of him for having a criminal for a father. She knew him when he was first introduced to the mob by that same criminal father, and she fell in love with him when she was just a teenager … just in time for her family to pack up and move away from the city and boy she loved.
But, Alannah is back now, and after ten long years, Dominic Collazo is all grown up. He is larger than life and every woman’s fantasy as a rich casino owner with the looks of a Greek god, and an alpha male persona to die for. He’s also a captain in the notorious Giordano crime family.
When the two of them meet again, Alannah has no idea that her reunion with Dominic will also be her biggest curse. As drama ensues and bullets fly, Alannah has to ask herself if Dominic is worth all the trouble that comes with him.
Would you risk everything to be with the love of your life, even if he’s the mafia’s newest KINGPIN?
WS (Will) Greer is the author of bestselling novels such as The Therapist Series, Kingdom, Interview with a Sadist, and The Darkest Kink. He's also a USAF veteran since enlisting in 2004, and retiring after 20 years of service in 2024.
WS prides himself on being a man who writes spicy romance with the absolute best of them, while also understanding and appreciating that he is a guest in the house of romance that women built.
WS grew up in Clovis, NM, and now resides in Delaware, where he lives with his wife--bestselling author Isabel Lucero--and 3 kids.
Well, color me surprised that W. S. Greer is actually a male author. I totally had no idea. No wonder I feel that there isn't enough sex, hotness and fluff for me. Sorry, I'm shallow that way.
Alannah Sullivan and Dominic Callazo met when they were both 5th grader. Alannah is the new girl in school, while Dominic is the school outcast. Somehow when Dominic saved her from a certain bully, they both formed a special bond throughout their years together.
Almost 30% of the book is about their childhood friendship, which was sweet and we also get an insight into how Dominic gotten involved with the mafia at an early age due to his father's being a street soldier.
When Alannah's military dad gotten a new job transfer, these two young lovers were forced to be apart for a decade, until Alannah is all grown up and got a job back at St. Louis, the place where she long to reunite with Dominic again.
Since I am a romance reader at heart, I tend to be more critical in regards to the romance element in a book. I feel that in Kingpin, the author develop their bond through their teenage years, I can feel the friendship, but as young lovers, I feel it isn't sufficient. They simply didn't have enough time to be really together before the decade long time gap took place.
Even when they were reunite back again, their reconciliation feel a tad too easy, is like no time had pass. For a couple who never been in contact with each other for so long, I'm expecting more challenges in that department. The only challenge I can see is Alannah's fear of Dominic's work.
Regarding the fluff that I need, I mean the swoon moment in this book, so far, is quite limited. The scenes I liked most of obviously Dominic's confession. It seems like his heartfelt confessions are kryptonite to Alannah because poor girl can't think straight every time it happened. She knew he is bad for her well being, but she can't help herself.
Majority of the story was invested into Dominic's work within the Giodano's Family. From his teenage years, right up to him being the youngest Capo on the street during his mid twenties. I find myself enjoying some action scene that took place and wondering how will Dominic turned into a Kingpin. He is ruthless in his work, but when he is with Alannah, he seems to be a totally different person, so care-free and smitten with his girl.
Overall, is quite a neat mafia suspense story, but it lack a solid cast of supporting characters. There are a few men around Dominic, but not one of them actually stood out. Even with Alannah, she doesn't seem to have any close friend. It seems like Book 2 is inevitable and finger crossed that I will get more sex and maybe some interesting side characters.
The book opens when Dominic and Alannah meet for the first time when they're both eleven years old, this is the start of their friendship and we follow them at two year intervals, we meet them again at thirteen and then fifteen when Alannah's family move away but ten years later and she's back. I really enjoyed this book, something was different from the beginning but it wasn't until I'd finished that I discovered what it was, this was written by a man. Yes there's loads of male authors obviously but nearly all the books I read are written by women and therefore this had a different feel to it. This book held me and I was with these two every step of the way so why not 5*? Firstly I rarely give 5* and also for me it was missing something, I personally needed a little more romance although Dominic nearly reduced me to tears at times. I also felt we needed more on the secondary characters, this book revolved around the two main characters as it should but normally we get more depth from interactions with friends or colleagues but Alannah doesn't have any friends with her and we don't get much on Dominic's colleagues. Normally I love epilogues they're usually the part I look forward to but not in this case, here the epilogue didn't give the usual HEA it gave us a huge cliffhanger and now I'm having to wait for 'Long Live the King' which is due out 5th September. Only one day to wait........
I liked this book even though it lacked the usual angst that I love in these kinds of Mafioso romance. Dominic Giovanni Collazo was shunned by his classmates and they tormented him by calling him “ugly Dominic”. When Alannah Sullivan arrived at his school, Dominic felt protective of her especially since the same kids were making fun of her as the new girl. It’s a new school half way into her fifth grade year, but Alannah was no stranger to starting over. After all, she has moved around a bit due to her father’s station in the military. Dominic and Alannah struck up a friendship and were able to be safe place for each other. I love the time the author spend laying a foundation for young love. At the same time, we got to see the events that shaped Dominic’s life, which allowed us to understand his need for respect and dominance.
Alannah’s father gets transferred again, and the high school students get separated. It’s been ten years since Dominic and Alannah last saw each other and now the 25 year olds are reunited. They have to learn each other again but the pace of the story moves much faster and it is also darker. It went from high school bullying to outright mob violence. Alannah has grown up with a certain value system as her father was an Air Force officer and Dominic’s new role in the Mob doesn’t quite fit into those beliefs and ethics. So it is a hard adjustment for them as they clearly love each other. The problem is now figuring out whether what they feel for each other is strong enough to withstand Dominic’s lifestyle.
I though the author did a really good job telling this story using a dual POV style. The writing was more suspenseful and less anguish in the second half. But there was definitely passion and emotion but the actual mob part of the story was as central as the romance. The balance of both made this story even more powerful and genuine. I felt like I understood where both characters were coming from. I liked Alannah because she wasn’t weak and pathetic. She just had so much love for the boy and man who had been her everything from age 10. Dominic was also likable because his youth shaped his need for respect and strength. His father was such an instrumental part of his life that it’s clear to see how he arrived to this point in his life. This was a solid beginning to really interesting story. I look forward to seeing where the author takes us on phase two of Alannah and Dominic’s journey.
*Special Thanks to Enticing Journey for the book given in exchange for an honest review*
Dominic is simply DIVINE! In fifth grade Dominic met his soulmate, Alannah, while protecting her from a bully. This big, strong, Italian kid defended her and protected her when no one else would help! Sa-woonnnnnnnnnnn!!
Life and circumstances get in the way and the two drift apart emotionally and physically. Fate intervenes and a decade later the two literally run into each other! Oh what will Alannah do after running into that 6-foot wall of luciousness? Not much yet. Unfortunately. Dominic is an important business man and business must come first. This thing between them takes a back seat because a deal goes bad that requires Dominic's total attention. It's definitely time to show the rival family who runs St. Louis! But you know karma is a dirty heffa and when things go south, crews are about to get real nasty. People die. Women are harmed. More people die. The cycle goes on and on.....will Alannah slide on her big girl panties and stand by her man? Somebody is up to some dirty stuff and well when the smoke clears, where will she stand?
This is the first installment in the Kingpin series. It does end with a cliffhanger. However, WS does an excellent job with the cliffhanger! Five stars for this installment because Dominic had me from his fifth grade year protecting his woman, WS owned the scenes penning Dominic as an outcast because of his physical features while growing up and Dom's pain touched me, and last but not least, the handling of Mafia business is so graphic and well written that this story read like a movie! #sapranoswho?
This was a pretty good read. Alannah Sullivan met Dominic Collazo when they were in the 5th grade when Alannah moves from California to St. Louis due to her father being transferred because of his enlistment in the Air Force. This was a friends to lovers type of read. Alannah and her family moved again after five years and they don't see each other again for 10 years when she returns to St. Louis. I liked both of these characters. Dominic is a hot sexy mob captain. Alannah who became a nurse loved living in St. Louis so she returns. When these two come together it puts a target on her back. This was a really good read this was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
This is the first book I've read from this author and it was a good introduction to his work.
What I liked:
~ the history of Alannah and Dominic's friendship and later relationship ~ the little points of suspense ~ Dominic. I loved this boy from the start. Nothing like an underdog, the bullied, to grow up not only beautiful but successful ~ Dominic's relationship with his father. Boy did he idolize that man ~ the way that Alannah and Dominic seemed to re-connect instantly
There were other little things that I liked, but these were the important ones.
I did want more information about what happened in their lives during their time apart, such as what happened to Dominic's mom. It felt like things were left a little unfinished with some parts of the storyline. However, overall, it was an enjoyable read.
I have no idea if this picks up towards the end (that's just sad and I honestly couldn't care less) but I have decided to stop reading. Most people know if a book is going to be good at the 20% mark and when I got there, I really thought there was a chance of the story picking up and dazzling me. That didn't happen. If I wanted to read a book about the political dynamics of the mafia brood, I would read a manual (or hit myself over the head with the book). More than 30% of the book tells their backstory and the rest up until I stopped was just the characters going on and on about their political set-up.
This could have been a 4 star book. The beginning was great. I really liked the premise of an ugly duckling becoming a gorgeous mafia boss and his heart belonging to the one girl who knew him and believed in him back when he was an ugly duckling.
It started out great ... When they were children. I liked how the story was developing and how the author was building the history and relationship between them.
But then once she moved away and they got older ... The plot went downhill. The pace quickened dramatically. He didn't seem as if he changed at all from his awkward teen boy phase. He wasn't a bad ass mafia boss. Character development was missing...
Incredible read!! I was taken from the first chapter! I felt so bad for Allanah and Dominic when they were younger, but coming into each other's life was just the right timing! Dominic was a no nonsense kind of guy from an early age. He made Allanah feel safe and loved. Allanah showed him through friendship and love anything is possible. I loved this story! They have so many obstacles to overcome . Their love is from such a young age they will do anything for each other. The Epilogue scared the crap out of me! And I can't wait for book 2!! Definitely a 5 star read for me.
KFF weren't planning on reviewing this book but once in awhile, a read of this calibre merits a word or two. Having never read any works by this author and being a genre we thoroughly enjoy, we were to say, a tad curious. Yes, we all one-clicked and going in blind couldn't have been a better way to get to know the author's storytelling technique which to our delight, consumed us from part one to right up until the epilogue. Speaking for myself, I have to add that after finishing it at ridiculous hour o'clock, my feelings about what had gone on left me totally unprepared. Never in a million years could I have imagined such a sweet ending with such a damn twist leaving me with my mouth wide open. At this point, I'm not even sure if I can forgive you, Señor Greer. Not only are you the culprit for my frustration, but also the reason for a running commentary of things that had happened and read out loud to my husband! Now both on tenterhooks, we came to the conclusion that you are a mean man in the best sense of the word… you write a mean story too, and exactly how I like a book to be panned out. First person in present tense with alternative points of view is my weakness and I adored your writing concept development. Even before I discovered who you were, I was patting you on your back; figuratively speaking, of course.
Love at first sight has never convinced me and thank goodness this is not the case. I am totally into friendships that flower over time, are loyal to one another and become steadfast companions notwithstanding whatever setback. This is the backbone of the two protagonists’ lives that span over a period of years and is the making for an strong understanding between them.
"Why can't I say no, when I know I should? Why can't I turn off these feelings?"
I fell hard for Dominic Collazo. The Boy Wonder. He’s different. He’s a loner. He can’t bear injustices. He has been brought up in an ambience that kids shouldn’t have to experience but he accepts it with open arms simply because he holds his father in such high esteem. He learnt the rules and regulations too quickly for my liking; however, his astuteness is above all, what will make him a leader to be respected. He’s not invincible, he makes mistakes and this for me, made him so much more loveable. Blindsided by his one and only love doesn’t fit into the equation of his ‘mob bosses’. And this folks, is why I was bowled over with his sincerity and his wish never to back down regardless of the consequences showed me his strength of character.
"Don't lie to me. I'm not dumb, okay? I told you all about this, so I know you're not gonna just sit back and let this slide..."
Alannah Sullivan is adorable. She's had a raw deal at such a young age but with no option but to comply. She doesn't want to be where she is but this sassy and independent gal who has trouble adapting takes the bull by the horns and gets on with life. Not forgetting what she left behind years ago, there is always a means to an end. Surprisingly or not, the hand of fate plays an ace in her quest to go back to her roots. Clapping loudly here because who would ever imagine that she’d ever consider listening to her inner thoughts. You’ll only find out what they are by reading this book.
"You have to trust me, Alannah. I have never lied to you, have I?"
Suspense abounds at a perfect pace. It is not overwhelming sexy which I have no argument with, nevertheless, it overwhelming realistic. Correcting the right when it is wrong, to overcome all the obstacles in their paths, to live and forgive is what literally sold me in a read which has no grammar faults in the editing. Names and places are abundant but not at all confusing. The banter flows with such an ease that it took my breath away; yeah, I can’t put into words how much I connected with the goodies and had my doubts about other secondary characters. My biggest hang-up was how Greer decided to finish this book and only because I wanted to the outcome to be like now! Bravo to you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This story is told in dual POV, starting when both Alannah and Dominic are just 11 years old, at the beginning of their friendship. We also get to see Dominic's life when he's with his father and some of the "excursions" they do, not really of the legal variety. We also get to experience the heartbreak that happened when they were 15, starting with Alannah having to relocate for her father's job, and the tragedy that Dominic suffered.
Now they're both 25 and Alannah has made her way back to St. Louis, ostensibly for a job, but the bigger factor is Dominic, since she has no clue whether he's even alive or not. Her first hour back and she does indeed discover that Dominic is still alive, and the chemistry between them hasn't changed. But there's much more to Dominic's world than Alannah is ready to deal with, as evidenced by their dinner date that's rudely interrupted by gunfire (they didn't even get to enjoy appetizers!)
I was impressed with the writing style, it's not easy for a member of the opposite sex to write in a voice they're not familiar with, but Mr. Greer managed to do well with Alannah's voice. And let me say a big THANK YOU to Mr. Greer for making Alannah's father a member of the Air Force. I feel like the Air Force community doesn't get into books as much as the Army or Marines (I'm a proud USAF veteran).
This book does play out the way you think it would, especially once the head of the Family goes on an extended vacation at the request of the Feds. But what was most shocking to me was the epilogue, and now I can't wait until the next book is released so I can find out how the plan and ensuing drama will all play out.
This Thing Of Ours we call - The Family ! This was my first book by the author and it was soooo good. Dominic Giovanni Collazo meets Alannah Sullivan in 5th grade , when they're just 11 years old. But Dominic knows from that day on that she belonged to him. He helps his dad , Donnie Collazo in some illegal activities . Donnie is a made man in the Giordino family of St.Louis and his ambition to become a capo takes him on a fatal trip of extortion, Illegal Gambling, Theft . Pretty soon his son Dominic is left to bear the tragic consequences of the life that is thrust upon him. Dominic loses everything one night. His dad, his girl, his life and his mom too . the couple separate for a decade and get back together and immediately get caught up in a crossfire of bullets. The lifestyle Dominic has now has no place for Alannah but his life is now a part of La Costa Nostra . " we love each other, we hope to make money together , but we kill each other. It doesn't make sense to anybody but us, but it's our way of life. That's the life we live in La Costa Nostra !" The story is pretty detailed , researched thoroughly, very hard. WS has done an amazing job bringing Good Old mafia tale in to modern times.
Kingpin I really super enjoyed this story. I don't often read mafia books but this was one with a difference. We follow a young boy who's life was always destined for the mafia through his life starting from aged 11 and see how it's turns out for him a s a grown man. There are fantastic descriptive words in here and the smaller details that make a story come to life are included. I orginally started this book with the intention of reading a couple of pages to get a feel for the story and then wait until the next day (it was super late) instead I found myself enthralled by this world I had started reading about and just couldn't stop which resulted in me reading 72% of the book in one sitting and then finishing as soon as the kids were in school. Emotion wise yeah this book brings them out in all their glory happy, sad, tears, horror, shock, relief I missed loads but you get it ha. The characters are fantastic with great qualities ( no playboys here) the main male character Dominic is described in great hot (fans self) detail but he isn't arrogant with it which was refreshing! The main female Alannah, is just your average everyday girl which was brilliant shows we don't have to be perfect to grab a hottie. There are of course other characters to have a look out for too. There were no plot holes in the story line and the chapters are well named and it's clear which POV you are reading from which was great! Even with the different POV the story flowed perfectly. For me this was a perfect way to have a nosy into what a mafia life could be like and it was utterly believable. I rate this story the whole 5 stars that it deserves
This was my first time reading anything by W.S. Greer, but i thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kingpin has a bit of everything romance, suspense and angst. It details a young boy growing up within the mafia world. Kingpin is Dominic and Alannah's story. Dominic and Alannah met when he protects her from a bully, time and circumstances cause the two best friends to drift apart.
A decade later, it's fate when they reconnect. Dominic and Alannah have very different lives. Alannah is a nurse and Dominic is a made man. They have an intense chemistry and the bond from childhood is still there after their time apart. Being aware of Dominic's life is quite different to being in the crossfire of bullets and revenge. Alannah has to decide if the love they share is worth it.
This book is really well written and keeps you enthralled with an engaging story line. I really liked both Dominic and Alannah's characters they were very like-able. I enjoyed reading the book from a dual point of view of both the hero and heroine.
This book has a great mix of romance, suspense and angst. The story was full of twists and turns, danger, intrigue and violence that kept you thoroughly engaged and enthralled with this dynamic story line.
This is the first book in the Kingpin series, and does end on a cliffhanger, I really look forward to reading the next installment.
Allanah is an Air Force brat and knows that her father’s orders can change not only the Air Force base they live on, but also the state, the geographical area and possibly the country. She leaves behind friends and schools and has to start over. She doesn’t like being the new kid, especially in the middle of a new year.
Dominic is the outsider at his school, who wants to do normal kid things, but isn’t accepted by his classmates and is bullied. He’s raised by a single mother whose dad is in the picture and knows what his dad is and does, and hates it but can’t change the man. Dominic learns about “the business” from his dad on the weekends and becomes involved the older he gets.
The story starts out when Allanah & Dominic are just kids in elementary school and shows how their friendship starts and builds. I really enjoyed this part of the book, which was about 30% or so. But time and physical distance separates them, for what they fear may be forever. But 10 years later, they are reunited, but their lives are different and there is danger lurking within the mafia world. There will have to be tough choices and decisions made. There is definitely more coming in this series.
So this book has one of my favorite package of qualities. It has romance that sweet love that you experience while growing up and is of the rare luck, the kind of love that just grows stronger with time and tastier like wine. Then there's action. There's suspense and downright gangsta experience. We meet Alannah as the sweet military kid and Dominic as the quiet kid who doesn't mingle with his fellow peers much and with good reason. Their bond is so much sweeter and unbreakable and their feelings for each other like nothing else. But life seems to have other plans and they both are separated. Wow....The journey of Alannah and Dominic is really special. I love he cares for her and even though his "Family" has to come first yet he always thinks about alannah. Then there's Dominic's own various encounters and things he does. It was real fun to learn his doings and I especially loved the fact that the author gave us many chapters from his pov. Then the ending.....Wow!!!!! Definitely didn't see that coming. I really loved this one and can't wait to read the follow up. 💖💖💖
Dominic and Alannah..wow!!!. From the beginning I was drawn into their story. Its a different feel than his other books, which I also loved, but I feel this one was so much more. It had everything and this is from a someone who never read any mafia type books...I was loving it!
They meet when they were kids in 5th grade when he stuck up for her when she was getting bullied. No one talked to him, but there was something about him that Alannah was drawn to. From there they became best friends. When they were 15, they finally realized how much they meant to each other only for Alannah to move away because of her father's job, leaving them both devastated. Fast forward 10 years later and Dominic is not one to be messed with. Alannah feels the need to move back and they finally come face to face. What happens after is one of the best stories I've read. Can they rekindle what they once had? Can Alannah accept Dominic and life he leads? You have to read it to find out :) If you're a fan a mafia romance, you will love Dominic and Alannah's story!
This is the first book that I have read by WS Greer and I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to read it! I can not say enough about how amazing this story truly is. Alannah met Dominic when they were in grade school. He protected her from a bully and she befriended him even when no one else wanted to be his friend. The two grow close during school and tell each other the truth about everything. Due to the fact that Alannah's dad is in the Air Force, Alannah's family has to move after her and Dominic confess their love for one another. Ten years later Alannah moves back to St. Louis to go to work in a hospital. Her hope is to see Dominic and find out he's okay. Can the two find one another and pick up where hey left off? Will Alannah put her faith in Dominic or will she run? I cannot recommend this book enough! If you haven't read it yet, please do. There's a little bit of everything in the story and you feel what the characters are going through. WS Greer did an amazing job and I know I'll be reading this book again and again!
I am a sucker for a good mafia story, and W.S. Greer did not disappoint. With a hammer to the fingers and a bat to the head, Kingpin is a gritty and raw look at the mafia's hold on the lives of the players involved. The characters are damaged, flawed, and hold true to the mafia lifestyle.
Weaving in the intricacies of trying to find balance with family and love, what happens when the family you always thought was most important is at war with the wants, desires, and needs of the heart? Would you be willing to sacrifice your power and prestige for the woman you love? Would you be willing to lose face with the family that has always supported you, especially when no one else did? What if the man you have always loved turns out to part of a lifestyle so dangerous, you suddenly find your own life at risk? Would you choose to stay?
Get ready to meet the sexy alpha-male that is Dominic Collazo, a self-made man. He will have you begging for more and screaming for the next installment in this well-written and brutal series!
The best work by WS Greer yet. I thoroughly enjoyed Kingpin, which followed Dominic and Alannah from schoolyard bullying days, to being separated by military family life to being reunited as adults and it was just a well put together story that kept you engaged throughout. You felt the young love of a couple of teenagers who bonded over a common hatred for school bullies and the pain of them being separated. When they reunited, you cheered for how they picked up like they'd never left one another, proving that real love knows no time apart. I am a sucker for a good crime family book or movie and I think this one could definitely be both- with a perfect mixture of the sweet and sexy, humorous and the violence that follows this family in the business they're in. It felt true to life, not forced or over dramatized for shock value and I definitely give it 5 stars for an excellent job done. ~ Kellie, Eye Candy Bookstore
Holy godfather batman! With just the perfect balance of drama, true love and interesting fortune Kingpin has left me completely satisfied… that is, until I read the Epilogue! With exciting twists and wondering if the young couple you start reading about can pull their crap together once they are adults in the mafia second chance romance i found myself on my toes almost the entire time. I loved every minute of this book, but then again i am completely obsessed with the godfather movies (except for the third one) If you love action, sexy moments and a plot that will keep you on your toes, this is absolutely the book for you!
So you know when something is hyped up so much and then when you read/watch it you are disappointed because it didn't live up to you expectations??? Well that's not the case for this. I was excited to read this book and I'm glad I did.
It is a fast paced book and I loved how he touched on them at a young age. How we learn everything about them ahead of time. If you're looking for a mafia book, this is for you. If you're not looking for mafia, this is still the book for you. The ending leaves me wanting more and I wonder what will happen.
Alannah and Dominic will steal your heart. Right from the beginning, this book was addictive. I loved the beginning of their relationship. So emotional and touching. I love that Alannah does not judge Dominic for his lifestyle choices. Her story and how she held on to him for all those years was beautiful. Dominic has never forgotten the girl who stole his heart so long ago. These two characters are incredible. The storyline was amazing and flowed seamlessly. The connection these two share is insane. A great book all around. Reviewed for FMR Book Grind
I realy don't know how to rate this book so i won't. Don't get me wrong it is a good read but for me the angst is not angst at all. I had the filling like i was reading a diary in dual POV .And that ending??? Is this part one of the story or what??? I don't have a clue and as much as i like both of them now i have zero answers to everything.
This book grabs your attention from the beginning and holds on to it tight. It's everything you would expect from a mob story and I am looking forward to reading more.
I was totally hooked all long part one of the story; the cute middle school love was totally adorable but at the same time it lacked some emotional development amongst the characters( Like the bond could have been beyond just sharing secrets and hanging out regularly).
The characters jump from part one to two was off. Although Alannah’s character somewhat went along with the first part, Dominic’s didn’t. I understand he matured over time ( he was mature in middle school too) but shouldn’t maturing make you express you feeling better? I didn’t get that from him after 10 years of separation.
Why I could give more stars is that, they both got back together right away after 10 years! I wish there were some drama or emotional battle between before getting back together. There was just more of Mafia stuff than romantic bond ( as far as I’ve read)
The smut wasn’t quite expressed; it was just plain.
Overall, cute love in the first part but I think this could be better with more emotional plot!

A good read that was so easy to read. I really didn't have to think to much about this book it was a strong story that was easy to follow. Alannah and Dominic met in school and fast became best friends then later lovers. Dominic's father is a member of the mob and soon introduces his son to the life and eventually Alannah has to move away. Fast forward to when Alannah and Dominic are adults and She decides to return and try to rekindle their relationship, but little does she know Dominic is now a mob boss.
3.5 Great Read I just felt like it lacked something it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what I juts felt overall like it was missing something all along. That cliffhanger is one of the worst I don’t know if I’ll dive right into the next book this one seemed to test my patience a bit the hero lacked a bit of alpha tendencies I would have liked to have seen in his character. This is why I’m leaving only a 3.5 star rating.
