A married couple retires early to begin a ten-year odyssey which becomes a cobination road trip and voyage of discovery. Both are university professors. He is an organizational psychologist and she is a nurse. Along the way they discover a new life stage which they name "Elderlescence," a time between traditional working careers and the old stereoptype of elderly Florida shuffle- boarders. Their trip which was interrupted by the economic calamities of the 2000s is part Jack Kerouac and part Borat, and their book combines a sophisticated overview of retirement for the boomer and beyond generations with a humerous look at the realities of un-retirement and re-retirement. A must read for anyone thinking about retiring.
