Ecta: The Divide

Rate this book
For centuries, the people of Skywaard have been content in their industrial civilization in the clouds, isolated and separated from the primitive people of Ariviil with their strange potions and magic. They have been sequestered for too long, however, and resources are running low. The only way the people of the skies will survive is if they find a way to work with those who walk the lands.
That is where Sebastian comes in.
Up until now, he has lived a charmed life of debauchery, growing up in a noble ward left him wanting for nothing. Still, he finds the life of sex, drugs, booze, and women can leave a man feeling rather… empty. Driven by a longing for purpose, he abandons the comforts of Skywaard and departs for Ariviil.
He wants adventure, and he finds it. In walks the intoxicating little package that is Loriella.
She’s an outcast, ostracized for possessing a gift that the people of Ariviil fear. People always fear what they do not understand, even in a city built on magic. She accepted this fate a long time ago resigning herself to a life of isolation and loneliness… until she meets Sebastian. They say you crave what you need, and she needs him with every ounce of her being. Will he turn her away when he learns of her gift, just as her own people have done?
As the entwined souls from incompatible worlds try to negotiate a treaty between their people and navigate a romance doomed for disaster, they uncover an even darker reality brewing on the horizon that no one saw coming.
Will they be able to make peace amongst the chaos, or will it all end in war?

Let's start off by saying I LOVED THIS BOOK... Separately Kyle and Samantha are incredible authors and at completely different ends of the Genre spectrum, BUT together they have created something both special and magical, unique even with this story. They each have a way of pulling you into the story, making you believe that you are a part of it.

This is a fast paced novella that will leave you begging for more. The instant connection and sexual tension between Sebastian and Loriella is off the charts. Both being from different worlds (so to speak) can they make this work or are they heading for misery? With talks of war who knows what will happen!!!! I am really looking forward to reading the next installment in this series. This deserves more than 5*'s, a job well done

Kyle Perkins and Samantha Harrington have created this spectacular world, in which two different societies reside. Although Skywaard and Ariviil used to be one community, they separated so long ago that neither is sure if the other is even real. Ariviil is the community of people who live off of the land. They have been thriving for as long as they can remember, and although they still use horses for travel and candle for light, they grow stronger every generation. Skywaard is a city so high up in the sky, it looks like they float on the clouds. Skywaard's community is all about technology, and although technology makes every day tasks easy, it doesn't keep food on the table. They have been running out of rations and know that if they don't get help from the people of Arivill they won't survive much longer.

Sebastian is one of Skywaard's citizens, and although it looks like he has everything from the outside, he finds himself constantly bored or feeling like he doesn't belong with the happy people he's constantly surrounded by. When he gets sent on a mission to the ground, he finds himself hoping for the adventure he's always wanted. But what if he ends up getting more than he bargained for?

Loriella has been alone for her whole life. Even her family has disowned her for something she couldn't control. For as long as she can remember she has had the gift to take away other's pain, and although that sounds like a gift from the gods, others look at her as a freak. She has to use touch to extract their pain, and the more painful the memory the more intimately she has to touch them. If only everyone knew what she went through after using her gift, then maybe they would stop calling her hateful names. Oh well, why should she care what others think about her anyways? Sebastian falls from the sky, and rocks Loriella's world when he tells her he comes from the people of the sky. Weren't those only stories?

Sebastian and Loriella must work together to get their communities to work together, but what happens when everything goes even more wrong than either of them can imagine? Do they work together when they need each other the most? Or do they end up fighting on different sides of a losing battle?

Please jump into this world where the words are woven together so immaculately that you don't know what's real and what's fantasy.

I didn't know what to expect from this book and have to say it's my first sci-fi type read....but wow! I was completely engrossed in the alternate universe the authors created. Skywaard (loved this!) was a civilisation literally living in the clouds...whilst the people on the ground (Ariviil) are literally living the lesser existence. Sebastian however knows both ends of the spectrum of living so holds little judgements about where people come from.

I was a little blown away at how much sex was involved lol - I have to admit it. After the fourth sex scene I lost count but boy was it a seriously sexy read. Not expected. But as he meets Loriella, (funnily enough, the only woman he meets and doesn't have sex with! Hahaha)the pair have an instant pull and chemistry is clear for the readers to see.

An amazing first Instalment of what proves to be a captivating series. I can't wait to read more and see what will happen with the two civilisations and beyond.

Book given by the author for an honest review.

I absolutely love Samantha Harrington and her books so I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this.

ECTA is different to her previous books but just as good and she has worked well with Kyle Perkins. I haven't read anything by Kyle Perkins but after reading this I will definitely be adding them to my TBR list.

This is a Sci-fi read and the passion with the two main characters oozes from the kindle :) Sebastian and Loriella are both from different societies and must try and work together to bring their homes together.

This is Book 1 in the series and I really need the next books so I can see what these two amazing authors have up their sleeves.

I adored this book! Not only was it a very hot read (Oh, Sebastian... Be still, my beating heart!), but the world that Harrington and Perkins created is so interesting and unique! You'll fall in love with the steampunk playboy and the magical Loriella. Will these two just get it together and just realize they're a perfect match, or will circumstance and cultural differences keep them apart?

This was captivating, emotional, humorous, sexy... everything I love in a good book. I devoured every page and I want to read more! I cannot wait for the next installment of this series!

This was an unusual genre for me to read. The plot of the story is good and it flows well. I wasn't too keen on Sebastian throughout and I'm hoping he will redeem himself and change my mind. I liked Lori and felt that she was being unfairly treated because of the things she had to do. I look forward to future instalments of this series.

I honestly wasn't sure what to thing as I started this book. I don't normally go for the dystopian genre, but I can say I was completely engaged right from the start. Right when I was on the seat of my pants the story ended. I could have gone for a much larger read, but I guess the cliffhanger is going to keep me coming back for more. I really enjoyed this story and am excited to see whats next

Imagine a world living in the sky, where
everything is made of clean polished stone and brass, modern technology is just apart of e
veryday life, people are dressed impeccably but food and the basic necessities are dwindling.....now imagine a world living on the ground where everything is dirty and made of wood, people dress modestly and live with nothing but the bare necessities but food is plentiful.....Sebastian is sent by the SkyWaard Council to make a deal with the Ariviil Council for food and supplies in exchange for technology.....he meets Loriella not long after he arrives and is immediately draw to her.....Loriella feels the same about Sebastian but is worried that when he learns of her secret, like everyone else, he will look at her with disgust and that thought saddens her....but when Sebastian asks Loriella to take him to meet with the Council she reluctantly agrees but things do not go according to plan, deception, accusations and assumptions are made, and in a moment of panic, Sebastian "kidnaps" Loriella and takes her back to SkyWaard with him.....War is immanent but the warring factions are not who you think.....This book is beautifully written, you can picture both of the world's from how Kyle and Samantha describe them, I can't wait for the next installment in this series so I can find out where the journey will take Sebastian and Loriella, their world's and their undeniable mutual attraction for each other

I loved this book! What a world that has been created by Samantha Harrington and Kyle Perkins!
The world created within this book leaves you breathless. With a civilization separated hundreds of years ago, basic necessities are needed to sustain life in the sky. Sebastian is sent to negotiate trade between the separated societies; food for technology.
Having the magical ability to absorb the pain that suffocates others, Loriella brings so much emotion to this read. When their worlds collide, the true connection between Sebastian and Loriella is developed throughout the book, creating a feeling of passion and need.
Everyone over 18 should read this book! I loved this read and I anticipate more from these amazing authors!

Kyle and Samantha are both new authors forme, and this isn't my normal type of read.
It was well written and about different civilisations living on earth, in the sky and in the sea, each civilisation needs help from the other but they aren't willing to help each other.
Sabastian is from Skywaard and Loriella is from Ariviil, there is an instant attraction to one another but can they come together to help their people?

A short, erotic steampunk story. Really, just a tease, but if youre looking for a quick read full of sex scenes, this is for you. If more developed, this would make a very fascinating tale; there is so much potential. Loriella and Sebastian make quite the intriguing pair and it would be fun to see more of them.

I was lucky enough to win this and I really wasn't sure what to expect, with Kyle and Samantha teamed together on this it certainly takes you to another world literally. Sebastian is from Skywaard, a city made of Zepplins in the sky. Loriella is from Ariviil a civilization that lives on the ground. When Skywaard is looking for help from the people from the land the elders decide to send Sebastian down to negotiate. This is where he meets with Loriella when things turn bad there he escapes to go back home with Lori in hand, and she certainly does not get the welcome that he was hoping for. This is a story I found I didn't want to get to the end of the book as I wanted the story to last longer. I am left wondering what they come up with next and will be waiting to see what comes next.........

Kyle and Samantha teamed together and made this amazing novel.
Sebastian is from Skywaard, a city made of Zepplins in the sky. Loriella is from Ariviil a civilization that lives on the ground. When Skywaard is looking for help from the people from the land they decide to send Sebastian down to negotiate. That is when he meets up with Loriella. When worse comes to worse he escapes to go back home with Lori in hand, and she does not get the welcome that he was hoping for.
This is a quick read and by the time I had gotten to the end of the book I wanted the story to last longer. I am very excited to read what they come up with next when the next installment comes out.

This is a good short story with a lot of hot and steamy sex scenes. There is a great plot and the potential to be a great read. If the book was longer allowing the story to continue or use this book as a prequel to another book would be great. While I think this a good read and would recommend this book to anyone that wants a hot short story, I feel as soon as the real action was about to get started the book ended.

4.5 . I wasn't exactly sure how to rate this book .I loved Monte . I was hoping this book would have that powerful sexual preference to an extent . I definitely did not get bored with it but I also was not blown away . It was a different little short story that has plenty of potential and I look forward to reading more .

A good read with some hot and heavy moments in it so don't read it at work !

This has a great story line and I enjoyed the characters as well as pace, however I just wish this book was full length as I felt really disappointed when I got to the end as some more development within the story would have helped. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long before the actual full length book is out.

I love the premise of this story...2 civilizations, one in the sky and one on the ground that have not had contact in centuries. One now needs the other in order to survive, but old grudges die hard. Anticipating the next book in the series.
