We all make mistakes. We lock our faults in the closet of our past, and try to carry on. For a while, we delude ourselves that Life has forgotten our debt, but the moment when She brings us the bill always comes. And seldom does she cancel the interest…
United States. A young woman learns that two girls, whom she’d met at a summer camp many years before, have been brutally murdered. Although it seems to be a tragic coincidence, she starts to fear for herself and goes to the police. The handsome detective who listens to her finds her theory very weak; nevertheless, he decides to check it out: the sexual background of the story might justify her fear.
The events of the following days link past and present, entwining their lives with the killer’s in an unpredictable way.
I'm an Italian Author because I was born in Italy, so I must be Italian. Then I happened to write a couple of novels, so I started to call myself an Author. Eventually, I dared to have them translated in English... so here I am :)
I loved this thriller! I found its structure excellent: the leading story, the way the secondary stories were mixed with it, doubts, suspense, twists and turns. The characters are very credible, which is not that easy to find.
I didn’t like the very strong language of some dialogs, even though I understand that it was necessary to communicate emotions and feelings that couldn’t be voiced out differently.
I gave it 5 stars especially for the ending. An intense, touching, original, deeply bitter and wonderful ending! It could sound as a contradiction, but only by reading the book from the first line to the last one you can understand what I mean. So I definitely recommend it!
What a great premise behind this book. She and four of her friends tormented an awkward young man at summer camp many years ago. 12 years later, 3 of those friends are dead, 1 is missing, and she may be next. Add to all that, the detective who is smitten with our heroine the moment she crosses his path, and you have the makings of a very enjoyable read. Now, for those of you who are grammar police, you need to keep in mind that this book was translated from Italian to English, and some of that translation is a bit awkward and incorrect. And the romance aspect of this is crazy insta-love and not very detailed...not something that a romance reader can really get your arms around. Another 100 pages of the romance side of this would have made it a 5 star read for me.
When four of Natalie's childhood girlfriends turn up missing or dead she believes that it may be linked to a childish prank gone wrong. Twelve years ago, Natalie took part in a seemingly harmless prank that caused irreversible damage to an innocent boy. Now, years later, as each one of her friends meets a tragic end, she begins to put the pieces together. When she takes her suspicions to the police she meets a handsome detective, Landon, who takes an interest in her story. With Natalie being the last piece of the puzzle, Landon makes it his duty to protect her. But when his dark past is revealed Natalie is faced with a difficult decision. Left on her own, will she become the killer's final victim?
This story is full of surprising twists that will change your perspective on Good and Evil. Life doesn't always end up the way you'd expect and the "good guy" doesn't always win in the end.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of suspense or thriller novels.
WHEN I FIRST STARTED READING I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED AS TO WHERE WAS ALL THIS HEADING AND HOW WOULD IT CONNECT TOGETHER. I MUST SAY I WAS NOT HAPPY, BECAUSE THE WRITING STYLE SEEMED DISJOINTED AND TO BE GOING NO WHERE FAST. I KEPT READING AND FINALLY IT STARTED MAKING SENSE. THE STORYLINE WAS GOOD BUT FOR MY TASTE WAS JUST TOO SAD. IT BOTHERED ME THAT SOMETHING YOU CAN DO IN THE PAST (no matter how big or how small) HAS THE POTIENTIAL TO COME BACK AND RUIN YOUR FUTURE. BOOK TITLE REALLY FIT THE STORYLINE. ;|
This is a psychological thriller with an undercurrent of a fated romance. The author approached me with a copy of his book and I was intrigued.
Who has not made mistakes in their lives that later on come back to haunt them? That is the crux of this spectacular plotline, as the mistakes made as a teenager come back to haunt our main character, Natalie. The romance that develops between Natalie and the detective that tries to help and protect her (Landon) is sensitive, passionate, and runs the gambit of all emotions.
This book is full of reality. If you are looking for a happily ever after, well, you will not find it. These are fated lovers dealing with the horrors of a serial stalker and the horrors that come for the kidnapped victim. These characters are good people trying to do what is right, but karma or life has a way of extracting a balance for the mistakes made and it is not always indicative of an HEA.
Loved the plotline and the writing style. I am hoping this author will write a sequel resolving the lives of these characters in a happier setting.
I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the whole story line, this isn't your typical love story and it may or may not end in a HEA. You will have to read it to find out. There is a lot of suspense and other things coming up from the past that will keep you on the edge just waiting to see what will happen next. This was very well written and the characters were great. I really look forward to reading more from this author.

"Bullets From The Past" by Antonio Scotto di Carlo is my first read by this author and even though I'm more into classic romance novels I really enjoyed reading this book. When Natalie Lunn learns that four girlfriends are tragically murdered she decides to go to the police for help. This could possibly be happening due to a childhood prank from twelve years ago at Summer camp when they played a trick on someone and that went gone terribly wrong. There is so much to this book that I'm not telling about here because it's one of those books that deserves to be read. If you love mystery, and suspense, and don't mind a little strong language, you're going to love this book as much as I did. The book will start off a little slow, but don't give up. It becomes more intense as the Chapters go on.
This is a great suspense story that will have you guessing almost all the way through. This is one of those stories that kept me on the edge of my seat.
I received a request from the author to read Bullets From The Past. There were a few things I just couldn't get past which prevented me from enjoying this book. First, is the insta-love between two of the characters. I can't even enjoy the progression of the relationship because it's so unrealistic that two people fall in love after knowing each other for a week. In this case, the outcome of that insta-love is a little more realistic. She jumps headfirst into a relationship with a guy she's known a week, and after moving in with him, she learns of a secret he's been keeping. Big surprise that you don't know a lot about the guy you've known a week!! My second issue with this book is the actual surprise.
Murders are happening everywhere. One young woman begins to wonder when she finds out two of the women she knew. Scared and not really knowing what to do, she turns to the local police for help. As the puzzle comes together, the picture is more frightening than the young woman could imagine.
The powerful opening sentence of this book sets the tone for the rest of the story. Psychological thriller is the label that fits most with this story. Well written and plotted, you won't want to stop until you finish the book. You'll also be thinking twice when out alone after dark. These characters are very relatable. The author writes with passion and you feel it. The most troubling thing of all? This story could be about any of us.
I found no issues.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because I can see this happening. ~Copy of book provided by author in exchange for a fair review~

Although the start of the story was slow for me i quickly connected to it ,,,, this is not your happily ever after story,,, Natalie never thought being involved in a harmless prank 12 years ago could lead to four of her friends missing or dead and her possibly next,,,she talks to the police about it and meets detective Landon who makes it his mission to protect her but when things from his past arise will he be protecting her or is she on her on and can a childhood really come back to bite you or not read the book and find out you want be disappointed great job Antonio Scotto di Carlo
Bullets from the Past is a story with great potential but was just too disjointed. The mini stories that join into the main story should have been separated into a serial or novellas. Just takes to long too get what's going on. Overall rating 2.5
Wow! I'm speechless! Totally blown away! Bullets From the Past grabbed me from the beginning and sent me on a wild ride of suspense, drama, murder with a little mix of romance until the very end!
As we face many things in our childhood, we never suspect that the immature decisions we make could affect someone's future or even our own. We are held accountable for the choices that we make, good or bad. Karma always makes its presence known.
While watching the news about a second woman's body being found, Natalie feels that it isn't a coincidence that these women were two of her friends from a girls summer camp twelve years ago. The five 'Spice Girls' were inseparable that summer. Her past has come back to haunt her. A childish prank gone bad.
Natalie's cousin persuades her to go to the police. The handsome detective, Landon, is convinced that these murders are linked and he will do whatever it takes to solve the case and protect Natalie. A strong chemistry is ignited between Natalie and Landon and she moves in with Landon for her own protection. Then out of the blue, Tiana appears. Landon's world came spiraling downwards and his demons that once haunted him are now unleashed.
Landon and Natalie realize that the serial stalker is out for revenge as Natalie's friends are being murdered or missing. Will Landon be able to protect Natalie? Or will she end up dead as well?
I loved Natalie and Landon's characters and the banter between the detectives. My heart went out to the serial killer due to his past.
Antonio writes with such passion as his words flow through the pages creating a magnificent story that will keep you so intrigued as the pieces of the puzzle slowly fall in place. The twists and turns will leave you speechless.
I strongly recommend this masterpiece, Bullets From the Past as well as Hearts Under Fire! 10 stars!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this compelling story! I especially liked how the story unfolded, through the voices of the various characters. The theme of past actions causing present consequences resonates throughout the story. I look forward to reading more by this author.
**** Astonishing psych-thriller !! **** In my opinion, the past never leaves us... It becomes a part of who we are, good or bad, we have no control over it as the years pass. It can change us for the better, or some of it can sneak back to haunt us. For Natalie and her friends from teen summer camp, their participation in an event has come to the surface. The person they wronged is showing up for twisted revenge. Two women Nat knew from camp are brutally murdered. No one from their circle is safe, as she and Landon, a cop, and the FBI, struggle to solve the case. ( The words "hand me the keys... " will give you a "c-h-i-l-l" from now on.)
These deep characters are thought-filled; each having bad past events that formed them, but are now trying to retain their principles. This is a mystery, a hunt for a psycho killer and it's suspenseful, and violent. The past event is having deadly consequences. Their proximity evokes feelings for Landon and Nat. This is a brilliantly written tale of vengeance, by Antonio Scotto de Carlo. It is a mind meld of underlying terror and hope of surviving the potential brutality. Wow ! The book's translation from Italian is near flawless. Awesomely performed. It's free on Amazon KU, and is 36 days and counting on the Italian best seller list. * The ending will stun you ! Highly recommended. ENJOY !! =============================================== So worth the read. =============================================== ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Let me start out by saying that Antonio Scotto di Carlo left me hanging and I really hope he is working on book 2 right now! He is a new Author to me and I really enjoyed his work. I love a good mystery, but mix in a few romances gone wrong, a serial killer and a baby out of nowhere, well you got a good book. He kept me guessing on how it would all turn out in the end. As I thought I had it all figured out, he threw a few loopholes and twists and turns into the mix. Picture it! Teenage girls become friends at summer camp. They have their fun making fun of a boy, but that's what teen girls do. They all go their separate ways until 12 years later when one of them finds out that all the rest of her friends from that summer camp has been murdered. All in different places at different times. Should she be scared for her life? Are they all connected? She decides to go to the police and talks to a very handsome detective about her fears. Brushing her off about it, she leaves, but he starts to think on it and does some looking into what she told him. He has real fear for her life now and contacts an old friend in the FBI. They go and see him and he has the same reaction, but what she doesn't know, is that its a front and she is going to be used as bait. Now the handsome detective and her have an over night fling and fall for each other, maybe. Things go wild from here and you can't put the book down. And then it hits you, the end is here and you need more. More! What happens next? Does she end up like the women the detective knows? What? Need book 2!!!!!!
We all make mistakes. We lock our faults in the closet of our past, and try to carry on. For a while, we delude ourselves that Life has forgotten our debt, but the moment when She brings us the bill always comes. And seldom does she cancel the interest…
This book didn't grab me as I would have liked it to. I think what threw me off was the romance, it was too quick and too intense.
