A good story. That characters were well portrayed from their TV counterparts, and the events and action were creative and fun. I did find following some of the panels difficult and didn't like how the "witch" was dressed for a young adult comic (the slit in her dress was way to high). The "witch's" incantation was a little creepy too. Interesting how it wasn't really magic but using nature to their advantage to control a situation. The short at the end was also exceptional. It was emotional and really got to the heart of the situation. I kinda hope that storyline comes back at some point. I look forward to the next story.

"The Endless Night"
****
A man shows up in the harbor in an empty boat claiming he is the last of his village. He said a witch came and cursed them, and his friends and neighbors disappeared one by one...even on the boat when they were trying to escape. When the witch mentioned shows up claiming they are cursed for rescuing him, then makes the sun dark, and then people start disappearing, Hiccup smells a rat. He sends one friend to do research on the sun going dark while the rest of them scout around on the dragons to see if they can find out what's really happening. And of course, Hiccup and gang save the day.

A fun adventure with Hiccup and friends. Loved the comments and drastically different opinions about doing research.

"Cruel to Be Kind"
***
A short little coda on the last story. One of the dragons rescued from the bad guys is wreaking havoc on Berk and needs to be relocated to be with his own kind. Even if it breaks Hiccup's heart.

Even Hiccup needs to learn a lesson about which pets to keep and which to leave in the wild.

"Snowmaggedon"
*****
Hiccup and the other dragon riders must go up north and find out what's happened to Chilblain that would keep the ore shipment from coming through. What they find isn't good and they must rescue Chilblain from disaster.

A good ol' rescue story with plenty of dragons and one epic snowball fight.

"Thaw Fleet"
*****
There's just one tiny problem to the solution they came up with for Chilblain in "Snowmaggedon" and the friends must figure out a way to keep the ore deliveries going through.

Great little lesson on everyone having different talents, fun continuation of the "Snowmaggedon" story, and I love the illustration of the waterlogged sheep.

Notes on content: Two minor swear words. No sexual content. Good ol' cartoon battles where pretty much no one gets seriously hurt.

Another of my daughters library choices.

This was a fun quick read with a nice little epilogue to leave you wanting more. Would happily read this whole series as the stories are well written and the art is beautiful. Also have a special place in my heart for Hiccup and Toothless
