Garrett Hamilton is the quintessential ladies man, a sexy, wealthy corporate lawyer whose work keeps him far too busy to think about romance. Yet, he’s lost his drive to win cases and finds himself hopping on a plane to visit his brother at Last Frontier Lodge in Alaska. Delia Peters is a single mother who learned the hard way that lust often doesn’t translate to love. She figures life is good enough if she can pay the bills. Love is the stuff of dreams, not real life.
Garrett has spent so many years driven almost entirely by his work that he’s at loose ends. He’s hoping an unplanned escape will refresh and renew him. He didn’t count on Delia nearly bringing him to his knees with her unassuming beauty. One kiss and he’s lost. A man whose career was built on his ability to spin any situation to his advantage finds himself stumbling when faced with a woman whose mere presence rattles his control.
Delia is finally finding some stability with a new job as the chef at the local ski lodge. She’s so accustomed to the busy pace of single motherhood that the thought of romance hasn’t crossed her mind in years. She’s entirely unprepared for the scorching hot attraction between her and Garrett. One kiss sends her reeling…and wanting more than she ever imagined.
Delia and Garrett can’t deny the depth of desire that simmers between them. Falling in love wasn’t in the plans for either of them. Garrett is everything Delia dreamed of and more. Delia touches places in Garrett’s heart that he hadn’t known existed. Can Delia learn to trust in love? Can Garrett get out of his own way long enough to show Delia how much she matters?
*All novels in this series are full-length standalone novels with an HEA.

So I really enjoyed this book. Not 5 stars good about 3.5 to 4. I wanted a little more character development. Garrett was such a sweet guy but the way he refused to acknowledge his feelings for Delia was quite annoying. Even when everyone was telling him he was in love with her, he refused to accept it. I also didn’t like how fast they were screwing. I mean really like a day from meeting him and they’re banging, but she hasn’t had sex in 6 years…..Seems like that’s a bit quick. Overall I really liked Delia she was a smart, strong and stubborn woman. I really liked Marley’s character as well as Gage. I will definitely read their book as well.
Small-town romance set at a ski lodge in stunningly scenic, Southcentral Alaska
Delia Peters is a 28-year-old single mother. She got pregnant during her senior year in college and was abandoned by the father of her child. He has not contributed financially to their son Nick's upbringing either, during the six years of the child's life. Delia came home to live with her parents during Nick's infancy. Her family lives in an extremely scenic, fictional town named Diamond Creek, a fishing village and tourist destination in Southcentral Alaska, with breathtaking views of ocean and mountains and wildlife galore. It is a close-knit community made up of independent, hardy individuals.
Sadly, Delia's mother died of cancer a few years ago. Delia and Nick have continued to live with her widowed father, Don Peters, and they have been a great comfort to each other in dealing with their tragic loss. Delia had been working at unspecified odd jobs before Gage Hamilton hired her in Book 1 of this series, Take Me Home (TMH), as chef of the restaurant and manager of personnel at the Last Frontier Lodge (LFL). Don works for Gage as well, maintaining the ski lifts and doing slope work in general, as well as routine maintenance around the resort. Don is an important subcharacter in TMH.
Garrett Hamilton is going through a delayed crisis of conscience at age 32. Since law school, he has worked as a corporate attorney in Seattle, making a great deal of money representing the rich and powerful against the little guy, but his most recent case, helping a massive health-insurance conglomerate get away with denying desperately needed coverage to a sick child, finally made him realize he was ruining lives, and doing it on purpose. For some time now, he has been successful enough to have his pick of cases, so there was no reason he had to take that particular case. At the start of the novel, he precipitously decides to take a month off and stay with his older brother Gage and his wife Marley at the LFL, which he and his siblings jointly inherited from their paternal grandmother last year, and which Gage has worked hard to bring back to life. This ski resort was previously owned jointly by his grandparents, but it had been closed down for 20 years after his grandfather died. The lodge reopened a few months ago in December.
The first night Garrett arrives, he instinctively acts on a strong attraction he had already been experiencing toward Delia since he met her a few months ago when he visited Gage and Marley at Christmas. The intense feelings he has for Delia are disorientingly alien to him, because he has never been seriously interested in any woman before. Delia is a sweet-natured woman, his brother's employee, and the single mother of a 6-year-old child. This is not someone to casually date and have meaningless sex with in his typical, careless manner in the big city. And on top of all that, his life is currently in flux, which is a bad time to get involved with a woman on any level. But he cannot resist Delia, and she cannot resist him. Within a very short time after his arrival at LFL, they plunge into a torrid affair.
Delia is finally finding some stability with her job at the LFL. The harried pace of being a working single parent, as well as living in a small town where desirable single men are not thick on the ground, together has meant that she has not dated since she returned Diamond Creek. Unlike Garrett, who is a veteran of numerous sexual flings, she has only been with one man and is quite naive. She realizes that Garrett is only going to be around for a month and will probably leave her broken-hearted, but she can't protect her heart against the most desirable man she has ever known.
Delia and Garrett are sympathetic protagonists. Delia's adorable son and her loving father add greatly to the story, as do a set of colorful denizens of Diamond Creek, who frequently turn up in all of the novels in this series. In particular, Marley and Gage of TMH have a significant cameo appearance in this book and every other book after TMH, which delightfully demonstrates this loving couple living out their HEA.
There are quite a few sex scenes in this novel, but they aren't terribly crude as to descriptions or language.
I don't typically enjoy small-town romances, because the towns they are set in tend to be an utterly generic, Anytown, USA. In contrast, Diamond Creek is absolutely not commonplace. It is distinctively set in a recognizable portion of beautiful Alaska.
Though each romance in this series stands on its own, ending with an HEA, the friendships between the various romantic couples build upon each other, and it is, therefore, highly recommended to read the books of this series in order.
I am so in love with this series. Every book brings wonderful descriptions of the Alaskan landscape that make you wish you were there. The characters are deep and engaging. The love scenes are well written and the sex scenes are just the right amount of steamy. I love following this family and learning more about them and their lives. I love all the secondary characters and getting to know more about them. I can't wait to read the next book in series and am seriously hoping Ginger gets her own book sometime soon.
Beautiful. Breathtaking. Emotional. All of these and more can be used to describe JH Croix newest book Love at last. Love at Last is Ms. Croix’s latest endeavor in her Last Frontier Lodge Novel series. And I have to say it is just out just as outstanding as the previous books set in the beautiful setting of Alaska! Delia is a single mom, she and her son, Nick, were barely making ends meet. They were saved when Gage reopened the Last Frontier Lodge last year. Now, she runs the restaurant there. She met Garrett when he came up for Christmas, and “he took breath away”. Now, is no different! She knows now that lust is not love. She learned that lesson when Nick’s father walked out of her life when she told him she was pregnant. She will not make that mistake again! Garrett is a corporate attorney. When he won his last trial, he lost his drive. He needed a break. He returns to family and Last Frontier Lodge. He needs to get his head back in the game. He remembers Delia from his Christmas visit. He wanted to flirt with her then but he knew his brother Gage would not like it. Now is no different. He still wants to, and more…. Come read how these two come together. But, will they stay together, for some reason Garrett is afraid of love. I love the way Ms. Croix writes about her characters. She has a way to make you feel what they are feeling. You will laugh at the antics her characters get into, as well as knock their head against a wall in Garrett’s case. And her descriptions of the Alaskan country side. Makes you want to visit. The Alaskan tourist center to write their brochures. Now, I really need to say “Thank You” to Ms. Croix for the gift ARC of this book. Thank you for reading my review. If you love a great romance novel, this book is definitely for you, and you need to One-Click!
This is the second book in the Last Frontier Lodge series and they just get better. This is the story of Garrett and Delia. You met the both in book 1. Garret is Gage's corporate lawyer brother and Delia is a single mom and runs the lodge restaurant. Garrett needed a break from his life in Seattle. He jumps on a plane to visit his brother in Alaska. What he does plan is what happens with Delia. Delia has been burned before and afraid of her intense feelings for Garrett. Garret is afraid of his emotions. He never had time for a relationship, it was always work. Delia always put Nick first and she decides to take a chance. You get to see the characters from the first book, Gage, Marley, and Ginger are all here. You even get to hear from Becca.
This is the story of one am learning what he really needs in life, not just about the power and money. Also about learning to let go and let you feelings lead you. They may not always be right, but sometimes you have to think with your heart instead of your head.
Another fantastic hit for Ms. Croix!!! This is a wonderful addition to the series and makes me want to pack up and move to Diamond Creek!!! Garrett and Delia's relationship develops much quicker than many of her other characters', but it seemed to fit them! Delia is a single mom who wants nothing more than to provide a good life and home for her son. Love is not in her vocabulary but it quickly becomes something neither Delia or Garrett want to live without. Great Story and very enjoyable read! I can't wait for the next one!!! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book in the series about Gage's brother Garrett. Garrett leaves court one day after winning his case and hops on a plane for their family's lodge. He immediately runs into Delia and she sends him for a loop. It takes most of the book for him to come to terms in wanting and needing Delia. After almost losing her, he finally gets his head out of his arse ;) Great book, loved it and looking forward to reading book 3!!
I love this series! The setting is phenomenal and makes you want to visit Alaska ASAP. The romance is hot, achingly tender, smoking hot and breathtaking and did I say hot? Delia and Garrett are great characters as are all of the regulars at Last Frontier Lodge. Book a suite at the Lodge and enjoy the scenery and possibly a romance of your own! Can't wait for the next book in this series! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book had an amazing story and it snapped me up from the start. There was even a moment of indecision on should I keep going or start cleaning. I went back to reading because cleaning was overrated. LOL
Anyway, I wish i had read the first book but I will definitely continue on with the series because the book was amazing!!
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the first one in this series. The characters seemed very immature at times and the fact that they both can just give up responsibilities whenever they want made them very hard to relate to.
Delia is a single parent, but frequently leaves her son at home with her father so she can spend all hours of the night with Garrett often sneaking back home after midnight. She spends so much time working one would think she would want to spend more time with her son but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Garrett up and left Seattle with no notice and seems to have gone awhile without checking in with work. While I think this is a little more realistic than Delia, I don't think it would have been as easy to up and leave and then suddenly come back.
I still enjoyed this story, but I wanted more depth to the characters. I wanted more of a backstory as to the reason Garrett was so in denial of his feelings. Or something more with Delia's ex.
This was another good read in the series. This time it follows Garrett and Delia. Garrett is a lawyer is tired of his job so he comes to visit his brother for a while. Little did he know that when he got here that he would fall in love with Delia. I thought that they made a great couple and was glad that they got their HEA. They both deserved it.
I loved going back to Diamond Creek and getting to know more about Delia and Garrett. They had this connection from the very beginning! I’m so glad they made it worked and got everything deserved! 🥰
Can’t to wait for Becca and Aidan. I feel like it’s going to a one with them. 😌
I’m loving this series! I had read book 4 first, so it was good to go back and see how Garrett and Delia got together after hearing how a high powered corporate lawyer fell so hard for the single mom cook. One of my new favorite authors!
Nice sexy story. Garrett a burnt out corporate lawyer seeking a break from routine. Delia single mother and chef for Gage and Garrett lodge. They feel sparks the first time they meet and start a relationship and try to figure out what there feelings are for each other.
Wonderful and magical setting. Great characters. Absorbing storyline, but yet again, the same gripe. I loathe the constant use of the word ' channel' . its just... Yuk. Just as well I loved everything else about it.
Oh my! I am loving this series. They are hot and sexy, but sweet and romantic all rolled into one.
This story picks up with Delia. Single mom and manager of the kitchen and front staff at The Last Frontier Lodge. This is the job that she could not imagine she would wind up doing, but again it is comfortable and she loves it. Gage is so flexible, even allowing her to bring her son Nick into work with her.
Garrett, big shot corporate lawyer and brother of Gage, is in limbo. His last case has really got to him and he needs a break. So he hops on a plane and heads to Last Frontier Lodge to decompress. What he did not expect was his reaction to Delia.
Garrett really has a hard time dealing with his feelings about Delia and what he wants to do about his law firm in Seattle. Delia is falling in love with him and he is scared how that makes him feel. He has issues dealing with all these feelings head on and is not only scared about these feelings but he is also scared of losing her. So what happens when she does? Will he be able to let her go?
These books are so sweet yet so hot. I am falling in love with all the characters and enjoying watching the world of the Last Frontier Lodge develop. Everyone is lovable and entertaining. I am a sucker for a good romance. These books are just that. I highly recommend picking these books up and trying them out. The first two books are currently free at this time. So there is no excuse in not trying them out.
I’ve finished this whole series and every book is amazing. I’ve fallen in love with Diamond Creek and Alaska with it, not to mention the characters whom I’ve grown quite attached to! All the books contain a lovely, heart-warming and VERY hot romance. Although each book is a standalone, I recommend reading them in the proper order as we get glimpses and clues of the next couple in the current book, and get to see the evolution of the preceding couples in each new book we’re reading.
In Love at Last, Gage’s brother Garrett goes to Last Frontier Lodge to take a break from his life after discovering his successful career isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. He ends up not only finding himself, but also the love of his life. Delia is a fixture at the Lodge and doesn’t believe love is in the cards for her as a single mom. The chemistry between these two is explosive and their attraction becomes undeniable, however love is not a simple affair for them.
I thought Delia and Garrett would never get their HEA. Garrett was apprehensive and Delia’s valid concerns surrounded her son Nick and how things would effect him. It was steamy and included lots of glimpses of other potential couples for future stories. Croix does it again — love this series!
Delia is a hard working single mum. No time for romance, until her bosses brother Garret comes to stay. Garret is a corporate attorney, after winning his last case. A time he should be feeling great, he realises he feels lost, unsure of himself. So he catches a plane to spend some time in Diamond Creek with his brother and her wife. The chemistry between Delia and Garret is off the charts. The pages practically sizzle. Both Delia and Garret have to work through issues before they get a happy ending. A couple of times I wanted to shake Garret, it was clear he was in love with Delia, yet couldn't say the words. After reading this book i would really love to visit Alaska, the place sounds beautiful. Arc received from Net galley in exchange for a honest review.
Love at Last by J.H. Croix is another great book in this series. This book catches you on the first sentence and holds until the last sentence. J.H. Croix know how to write a fabulous story with great characters that are likable and relatable you feel yourself pulling for them through the story. Garrett and Delia are perfect for each and you want them together, will they make it? I am so looking forward to the next installment in the series. If you haven't started this series do it now, this is the second book and you don't want to miss it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Wow!! What a fantastic contemporary romance set against the backdrop of Diamond Creek, Alaska. I enjoyed the believable characters and the heartwarming story centering around beautiful single mother, Delia Peters, an employee at Last Frontier Lodge, and high-profile lawyer Garrett Hamilton, who is heart-stopping sexy. Their chemistry was so electric, it sizzled off the page! I really didn't want this book to end and can hardly wait for book 3 in this excellent series.
I received a complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review.
What is in the water at the Last Frontier Lodge? These men are hit hard in love, but practically have to be hit in the head with a two-by-four to admit it. In many ways Garrett is just like his brother Gage, workaholic and never been in a real relationship. Garrett and Delia's chemistry is off the charts. Another mostly feel good happily ever after. A story not to miss.
I'm an avid of fan of love stories and this is one story that I love. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. I would love to get my hands on the rest of the books in this series. I would recommend this book to any reader who loves a good love story and a happy ending. Even though I haven't read the other books in the series yet, I would recommend those too. Get your hand on one of these books today. You won't regret it.
A singe mom with a mantra of with my son and work I am fulfilled. She has known him for years but when he walks back into her life it is as if they are hit by a tidal wave. The sexual chemistry is off the charts and the way they are both are awkward about what they are actually feeling is a wonderful tale.
Sometimes happy endings come true. Raising her son Nick alone after his father showed no interest, his mother returns home to Alaska and gets a job where her mother one worked.
I love the characters and their stories The close relationships between the friends and families are what makes this series so special. The romance is off the charts and brings depth to the story.
Loved book 2. Garrett acted more like a boy than a man about how he feels for Delia who has a son and a single mom. This story goes back to the lodge in Alaska. The description on the area was wonderful and made exciting. That was the best description for me.
The second book in a series that is starting with two fantastic books. Well written with just enough tension to keep you reading. It has a love story you want to experience.
I love watching a guy flounder around when he is in over his head in a relationship that he doesn't know how to handle and never knew he wanted. It is sometimes funny watching him try to figure out why he is scared of what he is feeling and what is he really feeling is love. Delia is a single mom and working at the Last Frontier Lodge in the kitchen just like her mom did. Her dreams of becoming a big city chef died when she ended up pregnant while in college. Garrett is a big corporate lawyer in Seattle and one day after court just walked away from his business and flies to Alaska and the Last Frontier Lodge. He plans to stay for a month but is not sure why he even walked away from everything and is trying to figure it out. In the meantime Delia makes him crazy and he loses control every time he is around her. Delia is about the same way in that she loses her mind around him. Will Garrett admit he loves Delia or will she just be a fling while he is there? What will happen with his business when he goes back to Seattle?
