***New Release with Bonus Stories***
Aurora Palmer grew up in a world where the only threat that existed came from another planet: Thrax. The Thraxians, a deadly alien force, plagued the galaxy- pillaging and plundering from one world to the next. Or at least, that was what Aurora thought, until a routine patrol brought her under fire with the enemy.

When she was taken in by a Thraxian man after her vessel crashed, Aurora feared the worse. Yet, under his protection she is saved from death at the hands of the vengeful Thrax, and by his tutelage she learns everything she had ever been told about them was wrong. But was that enough for Aurora? Could she survive in a strange world and accept the love of a man she had been taught to despise?

This short story contains mature themes. It is intended to be enjoyed by an 18+ audience only.

I rarely give up on a book, but I had a seriously hard time finishing this book. I finished the main story and one of the bonuses. I only scanned the other stories.
The first time I read this kind of compilation I thought the bonus stories would be just that, bonus stories after a longer piece of work. This turned out to be wrong. In this work the actual main story is shorter than some of the bonus stories.

My main concern is that the females in these stories comes across as weak shallow bimbos, which I'm certain is not what the author intended. Aurora in the main story should be a seasoned warrior being a captain of her own starship hunting for Thraxian vessels during a galactic war, but instead she barely knows where weapons and ammo is stored on the ship. She doesn't search for other survivors and easily gives up when one Thraxian enters the ship. Then she proceeds to act like a child. On top of that she readily believes every thing she is told and accepts everything that is happening. A little less easy going and naive would be more believable.

The relationships were a bit unconvincing. The author tells a lot, but there is no showing. We are told Nevaeh and Bjorn are best friends, but you litterally have to take her word for it. There is no sizzling heat between the MC's other than Aurora thinking Nevaeh has a very nice body before they hook up.

The story could have been so much better if the world had been more carefully described. I mean, Aurora is on a planet humans know nothing about (I think), but she rarely reacts about the differencies that surely must exist between Earth and Thrax. What does the enviroment look like? Scents? Animals?
Also, the story is mainly set in a Thraxian community, but we don't get to know all that much about the people, their beliefs, culture or social/political structures. I'm curious about the markings they have. What are the signicance of them?

Well, as you see, I was left with more questions after reading than before. I do believe that the story could be an ok read after a bit more work.

This is one of those misleading "books" composed primarily of bonus stories that are short and poorly written. I read one of those, a medieval shifter romance and part of the title story. I didn't finish the main story because there were so many things completely ridiculous about it. If you wake from a crash and have other crew don't you check that they are alive? There is one, a friend, within the same cabin as her and she never even checks for a pulse. Also, what space agency tells a spaceship to go "thirty-five miles to the east" IN SPACE. Has the author ever read or watched any sci-fi? I could see the writing on the wall and gave up.

Mish-Mash of stories

I do not understand the 5 star ratings. Perhaps they read a different book than I did. Several different short stories, some better written than others. None merited even a 4 star rating.
