This book was fantastic! Traditionally, Christian fiction isn't very good. The characters are too perfect and unrelatable and the stories are normally too cheesy and cookie cutter. This book broke all of those barriers and told a real story with real characters.
The main character, Berkley, deals with issues that come with being a Christian in college. It's really hard to keep being faithful in such a spiritually dark place, and he understands that. Berkley learns what it really is to be a Christian. It's not about following rules and being perfect. We're imperfect. We make mistakes. And that's okay. And I LOVED that.
Also, the portrayal of the Newport family was fantastic. Every character was unique and brought something interesting and different to the story.
Overall, I cannot rave about this book enough. It's so nice to finally read a book where an author understands what their audience goes through. The romance is really sweet, the characters are really unique, the book is very well written, and the payoff at the end is 100% worth the wait. This was just a really good book and everyone should read it.
