Deep in the city, where we've been taught to avoid the dark corners and alleys, monsters lurk within the fragile cracks of our human emotions, waiting for the chance to break in.
With the loss of his grandfather, William runs to the streets without family or the knowledge of wealth he's left behind. Spending years begging for food and money, William has learned the secrets that the city keeps hidden, making him one of the most versatile detectives the department has ever seen.
Losing the love of his life, with nothing more than a letter saying she's sorry and spending five years tracking her, William has learned that she has entered the world where sex and money can make you very successful or may very well kill you in the process.

Kathryn has spent seven years on the streets, leaving behind her addicted, abusive mother and her sexual predator boyfriends. William proves to be the light she's been longing for but when darkness shadows the truth she's left to return to the streets in hiding with fear of the lies she's faced with.
Kathryn must decide, work for Xander and sell her soul for sex, or face the demons of her past and hope William understands she has never forgotten him.

A love for reading and writing is a new concept for Virginia. Before the Twilight rave and a need to know the ending after Eclipse was released in theaters, Virginia preferred to watch the movie or convince a friend to read the book for her.

Needing to know the story of a random homeless man that she encountered on a freeway exit ramp, was the only reason she began writing in the first place.
Soulless Nights spawned from the unknown story and a dare from her friends.

She has had the pleasure of working with some of her favorite authors. Street teams and beta reading were what led her to the world of writing.

She has released Soulless Nights, Vindicate, Expiate, Cessation, Always Never, Secondary Silence, Secondary Disaster, The Xmas Effect, The Blood of Abigail, Correcting Code 1.1, and the Bad Words Made Funny Series!

She recently released Night Tales Vol 1. Wich consist of 3 short stories featured in anthologies.

She also has co-written 3 books:  Seraphines (Julia Clare) ,Bound by an Echo (Julia Clare) & Kepler: Humanity's Ark ( Kyle Perkins )

She is currently working on Correcting Code novella's

I think this author has a lot of potential. The storyline, though dark and difficult to read was suspenseful. The ending left me anticipating the next book. Overall, it was good but not my favorite kind of. story. I was looking to connect with characters a little better, but it could have been necessary for these particular characters to be emotionally detatched.

This was a pretty good read. Kathryn is the child of a drug-addicted mother who has used her since she became a teenager. When her mom overdoses Kat escapes and spends her life on the streets where she meets and falls in love with William another homeless man William is different he comes from money. When events conspire against herKat is forced to run and leave William behind and he spends the next five years looking for her. Kat is forced to become a sex slave to help find a friends sister. This was a good story that I didn't think I would like it at first. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

What a great dark read. The story captivates the reader right from the beginning. With the great characters William, Kathryn, Carter, MayCi and Xander you cannot help but wonder what happens next from one page to the next. The storyline is thrilling yet suspenseful.
William is living on the streets in order to find his long lost love Kathryn. Kathryn has been living a life that she never wanted to be in, with her situation, she has no other choice but to stay with Xander. Can William save her before it is too late? Read this book to find out.
I for one am awaiting another great read from Virginia. And hopefully soon.

What a great book! I didn't expect what I got when I picked up this book and to my delight it was amazing!!! The characters were so drawn to one another and you couldn't quite put your finger one it. Kathryn had a horrible life and at one point almost got out. William was the cop in shining armor that almost had her and lost her. What real life situations these two were in and when I finally realized just how deep their love went I gasped out loud! This wasn't just a boy meets girl novel it was so much more!

I was very surprised by this book. At first glance it appears to be just another erotic romance novel, however, it is far from that! This is an emotional, dark, gritty tale of the dark underworld that exists all around us, in every city. Virginia Johnson was able to capture the pain and devastation that happens when love seems lost by disastrous life choices. There is always a little bit of hope to be found somewhere and sometimes that small spark is enough to change the course of many lives. Well worth your time to read.

I received this ARC for an honest review.

No spoilers

This is a debut novel by a new author and I was thrilled to be included from the start. I look forward to watching her grow as an author. I read a beta copy so I won't nitpick any errors, it was all about how the book flowed and kept me entertained.

This is a dark romance and got quite brutal at times so be forewarned. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters were interesting. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This is the story of William and Kat
They met while they were both living on the streets and fell in love but then their worlds were torn.
We join the story 5 years after Kat runs away without any reason that William can think of. A friend of hers finds William and tells him Kat has gone missing from an illegal sex trade ring.
He has to find her to save her and to try to recover what he lost of himself.
Amazing story, great characters and well written.

William is searching for a girl he hasn't seen in five years. He's an undercover cop and when word gets out that she's been sold by a mad man Xander he goes undercover with some of his buyers to get her back. Kat walked away from the only man she has ever loved and managed to hid for 5 years but now has to come out of hiding to save her friends sister. This story is crazy and not everyone makes it out alive.

Very interesting book here. Has A LOT OF SENSITIVE things in it. So don't be supervised. This story has lots going on in all corners. Xander want to keep Kat for himself but you don't rely find out why. You do get a glimpse into the past at one point. But that's all I can say without giving away spoilers. You'll have to read it for yourself.

Talented author!

Dark romance by Virginia Johnson which is typically not my goto genre but I'm glad I gave it a try. While it had some difficult and painful scenes, it's evident that Virginia Johnson is a talented author. For a debut novel, it's really good! Looking forward to the next book!

This book was recommended by a friend who said it was a real page turner, but warned me some parts were extremely disturbing. I was glad for the warning! What kept me going? The love story between Kat and William. I so wanted them to find each other and be together. No spoilers here, but if you're looking for fast paced debut novel from a promising new author then definitely buy this book.

What? Ok I get the story line. But didn't understand all of the book. There was no, at least to me, real chemistry between anyone. It jumped from one persons pov to another and left me confused.

Soulless Nights is my first read by Virginia Johnson. As a debut book, I found the story enjoyable, as well as worth finishing and reviewing. SN is a crime thriller that’s told from the heroine and hero’s POV. The protagonists have interesting secrets, which are thoroughly revealed as the story unfolds. There’s a bit of a love/lust triangle and a cliffhanger; nonetheless, I believe that all dark-fiction readers would appreciate VJ’s writing style.

This dark romantic suspense kept me turning the pages. It's really dark dealing with underground prostitution and a man who was homeless became something of himself becoming a SVU cop and looking for his wife who ran away. It's amazing and twisted and the ending is the best part. Well written and fantastic plot.

If you want a deliciously dark and twisted read, then you best be starting this. It blows my mind that this is the first book from this author! The characters in this book are so damaged and broken, yet have this determination to survive. With a few twists and a couple of "oh hell no" this storyline is well written and will have you wanting more!

OMG!!!

I absolutely loved this book. I'm glad it sort of had a happy ending. It was written with a cliffy though. I could see it almost as if it were a movie. Virginia did an excellent job writing this book.

This book made me sick. And before you take that to mean that it wasn't a good read, let me assure you: it was. The story was incredibly compelling and sucked me in immediately, but the subject matter had me so angry and feeling so heartbroken for these women in the sex trafficking that it was difficult for me to get through. There were certain parts of this book I really had to muddle through because there are a few explicit and abusive sex scenes that made the reading process almost too much to bare. I love the heroism in this novel and the way these two characters reunite, but the getting to that point was gruesome, heart wrenching, and extremely difficult to "witness."

Virginia Johnson most definitely is a good storyteller. She has a good story in her mind and she recites what is inside her head quite well. The delivery of the story could use a little work, but I'm not complaining. There are a few editing mistakes that made the story a little distracting, though not enough to keep me from reading. I found it difficult to make it through at times; certain parts seemed to drag and give a bit too much information, while others almost skimmed past what seemed to be important parts of the storyline and I felt like I was missing something (though that could be due to the fact that I do most of my reading at night while rather tired).

All in all, I wouldn't say I necessarily enjoyed the read, as that seems too nice of a word for a subject so harsh--but it was a good story. The ending is left wide open for a sequel, which I will probably be reading to get the rest of these characters' stories, but I do think there is potential for a good story worth telling here.

If you can get through the abusive nature of sex trafficking, then I suggest you decide for yourself whether you think the story is worth reading or not :)

I was provided a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Spoiler: I'm glad that the author didn't write that Kiln was simply knocked out by William. MayCi is a complete badass. I liked the ending and that it wasn't a completely "ever after". Bekah is hell on heels. This is a much tamer book compared to Seraphine's (side note: it was my first BDSM book and it took me a month to recover)

Soulless Nights
Great debut novel

I have to admit, when I saw the title for this book, I thought it was a paranormal romance. But, Nope! It’s your typical boy meets girl, loses girl and finds her again. But the way the story plays out is so much more involved than that.
Kathryn is the child of a drug-addicted mother who has used her ruthlessly since she became a teenager. When her mom over-doses Kat escapes and spends her life on the streets. There she meets and falls in love with William, another homeless man. But, William is different. He comes from money. When events conspire against her, Kat is forced to run and leave William behind.
Fast forward five years, Kat has left William behind but is still searching for her, needing answers to why she left.
Kathryn is beautiful and compelling with a tough exterior, she knows how to survive on the streets and how to stay out of the hands of those who want to use her. But, when the sister of her best friend goes missing Kat knows there is only one way to find her.
Xander.
He is head of the vile sex ring Kat infiltrates and ends up trapped in. she is forced to become one of his sex slaves. When Kat is tortured almost to death, and then disappears her friend MayCi sets events in place that will bring the two lovers back together, but it is a long and tangled road to their possible HEA.
I really liked this story, it was different from what I was expecting but in a good way. It isn’t a stand-alone and does end in somewhat of a cliff-hanger. More of a HFN, but it does leave you rooting for the characters.
And of course, I can see a story for the supporting characters of Lucas (William’s homicide division partner and MayCi). Even not so good guy Nick and Olivia.
I look forward to reading more from this author. Pick up your copy today.

For Kathryn, living on the streets was a much better option then staying at home with her addicted mother who left it up to Kathryn to pay off her drug debt with sex. William left everything behind after the death of his grandfather and spent several years on the street before deciding to return home and start his career as a detective. They both met on the street and fell in love but circumstances made her run away from him. She has spent the last 5 years hiding from him. He has spent the last 5 years looking for her. When a series of girls go missing and are found dead, William stumbles on a clue that might finally lead him to Kathryn. He will do what it takes to find her. Hopefully before it’s too late.

This book really wasn’t my usual cup of tea, but I found myself drawn into the characters despite this fact. The characters were well written and the story flowed well from one point of view to the other. The theme of sex trafficking is very dark but she portrayed in a way that didn’t gloss over how awful that world is, while at the same time not being so graphic that I felt that I needed a shower when I was done reading it. Having said that I will warn you that if you don’t like books about the darker, uglier side of human behavior, this may not be the book for you. I appreciate the honesty in this book though. Thank the Lord for the good guys!

This is the first book I have read by Virginia Johnson and I can definitely say I am now a fan. I cannot wait to read more by her. This was such a powerful and moving story and I cannot wait until the next one.

Kathryn or otherwise known as Kat and William met while they were living on the streets. They immediately fell in love and were smitten with each other. Their backgrounds were different and they had their own reasons for living on the streets but they were also very alike and connected. Then one day, Kat disappeared without a trace and left William heartbroken. William spent the next five years searching for a lead or anything to find Kat. He was an undercover police officer. Then one day, Mayci finds William and gives him the lead he has been searching desperately for. In order to find Kat, William has to manipulate an undercover sex party circle, locating the house that Xander was keeping Kat in, dealing with Xander's bodyguards, as well as keeping his emotions in check in order to find Kat.

Quote from the book, " If he still loves me enough to kill for me, I have to be the woman worth killing for."

A short read that grabbed my attention from Chapter 1. I would have loved to have seen more chemistry and the relationships built up more on a personal level. I hope that there will be a prequel to show this. I thought the story line had promise. I liked the premise but once it got to the proposal scene I was like...what? Not expected or needed. It felt out of place. Along with a cop walking away from a crime scene as if it never happened and the party-goers continuing as if nothing happened after gunshots were fired. I'm curious as to how the next book will progress and grow after reading the epilogue. For a debut novel it was a great read. It was a dark, sex induced, corrupted, suspense that flowed well and kept me engaged although a short read. I definately look forward to reading more. ♡

This is a Dark romance, not as dark as some books I have read but it is not a fluffy, pretty little safe love story. This story has some violence and yes some sex. If you want sunshine and roses this book is not for you but if you want a story of survival, compassion, longing, love and betrayal this story is for you.
William meets Kat falls in love they get together then he loses Kat. He searches for her for 5 years and is close to finding her. He goes undercover finds her and rescues her at the last minute only to have her injured and someone else kill the bad cop that was out to harm her.
Loved this story and fell in love with the characters. Kat is one strong kick ass woman and William is just a loyal hero searching for his missing love.
Can not wait for what is next for them. Did not put this down till I finished the whole book.

This was a hard read, but only because of what the poor girls went through in this story.
Virginia thrusts the reader into the story and it paints a vivid picture into the mind of what can happen in the sex trade. The horrific events that Kat has endured her whole life are only made worse as times goes on. William can't let her go, and continues to search for her, not giving up hope that he will find her and rescue her from the horrors that she is surely experiencing.
Excellent secondary characters gave this story a lot more depth and interacted beautifully with the main characters to bring a tale of love, self-sacrifice, and determination to do anything to save the ones they love.
This book ends wonderfully, but be prepared for a twist that will leave your jaw dropping.
I am eagerly anticipating the next book to follow this.

Kat and William, soul mates and destined to be together. Or are they?
After being homeless and on the streets for 5 years, Kat makes a foolish decision that see's her in a situation that she cannot really escape from.
William, an undercover cop, becomes "homeless" in order to try and find Kat and he will leave no stone unturned until he does.
This story takes us into dark and disturbing situations that most people would not survive. So if you are looking for a loved up romance story, this is not it. It is dark, gritty, intense and holds many twists you just might get whip lash.

After reading the Epilogue I am looking forward to the next instalment of this series.
Congratulations Virginia Johnson on a fantastic read.

4.5 stars here. Only marked down as at times the dialogue was a touch clunky, and the story got a touch ahead of itself in places i felt.
This book impressed me overall. An erotic, mystery novel. A detective searches for a woman. A basic plot, yet brimming with intrigue and twists.
Virginia does a fantastic job giving both POVs as the race heats up for William to find Kathryn.
WARNING! Not for sensitive pussies. There is graphic content here, which might be too extreme for some.
I love the fact Virginia shows bravery to go to places even established authors don't. All the characters feel real, flawed and in some cases, really fucked up. It makes for great reading. There is an epilogue giving room for a sequel, which i hope comes soon, with even more darker tones!
