Sal, a legal carrier (just about) of whatever comes her way, puts her trust in just two things: her guns.
Keeping out from under Imperium eyes—especially those belonging to a certain Ehi Wahu—while making a living, and trying to keep a lover who can tolerate her twitchy trigger fingers, are the extent of her ambitions.
Then a kiss from a passing stranger, and a promise of the biggest score in a long time, tempt her. Devin fulfils more than one need, but he comes with more trouble than one woman can handle. And this time it'll take more than her guns to save her. She'll have to trust a man again.

Quickshot is a great quick little story about a Sal, a freelance cargo hauler with a quick trigger finger who meets up with sexy Devin Kyle, a wanted man. A quick move puts Sal in Devin’s lap for a less-than-quick really hot kiss and the start of a beautiful relationship. Once Sal decides she wants Devin, she is quick to get them both naked.
Corny theme? With a title like Quickshot, what did you expect?
Just so you know, there is a lot more to it than a quick roll in the space ship. Oops, sorry.
Quickshot is non-stop adventure, danger, and going from the frying pan into the fire. There is some hot loving. There are colorful characters and an evil bastard that is a common enemy to the heroine and hero. Sal gets to come to the aid of Devin, and since this is an equal opportunity rescuing type of story, Devin will get return the favor.
As a short story, many of the events in Quickshot take place off the page. Too many in my opinion. Which is really saying that I wanted it to be longer. That is a common complaint for short stories, I know. But that is what happens when you get wrapped up in a story with a character or two you’ve gotten interested in. On the other hand, a longer story might have a different name and that would totally mess up my earlier ‘quick’ theme.
If you need something to fill an hour or less, but you don’t want to skimp on characters or adventure, Pippa Jay’s Quickshot is a the book you should pick up.

QUICKSHOT is a very exciting and sexy adventure in space.
Sal is a very self-confident woman who doesn't trust in anyone but herself. She is impulsive and used to calling the shots, but things are about to change when a stranger on the run, with a tempting offer, forced her to trust someone other than herself.
It was a great story, full of action from beginning to end. There is no boring moment here. It was a very entertaining, fast paced, dangerous and extremely hot adventure.
Both characters are very nice. Sal was a very strong character, really interesting and Devin was a very mysterious and captivating man. Both were likable, but I ended the story wanting to know more of them.
The futuristic world created by the author is really pleasant. The plot is not too complex, but for its length, managed to create a very interesting and attractive story.
As for romance, it wasn't the most endearing relationship I've seen, but they had good chemistry, and the moments they spent together were absolutely amazing. It's refreshing to see a female lead who is able to enjoy her sexuality.
Overall, it was really entertaining, easy to read, and anyone who like sci-fi and strong female characters would be able to enjoy it.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
What an intriguing story! So many questions!
And this is what I like about Jay's shorter stories: it's often more about what's not said than what is. This one seriously set me to wondering if Devin's human at all, or a very cleverly-designed robot. And then one has to wonder why humans with cyborg enhancements are treated so harshly. WHY is Devin apparently on the run?
Quickshot is called that for many reasons, and I'm pretty sure that at least one of them is that this really is a snapshot into the life of Sal, the main character. Being short, we don't get overly much happening growth-wise, although this story does include a massive moment where Sal has to trust someone other than herself. To be fair, she's pretty cornered and out of options.
A very quick read (*sigh there's that word again...), fast-paced and vividly written.
Quickshot by Pippa Jay is a fast, fun romp through space with hot, sexy highs and gritty, violent lows. Deep worldbuilding left me thirsty for more. The romance was realistic and a tantalizing start to what could become a passionate profoundly-loyal love.
This quick story boasts solid, fascinating characters and thrilling tech. I loved this story and would love to read more about these characters or this world. Very well done!
Sal and Devon are extremely interesting characters that I have so many questions about. This short gives you only an introduction to their world and I want more!!
