A Program for Implementing a Christ-Centered Recovery Ministry in Your Church
Alcoholism - Divorce - Sexual Abuse - Codependency - Domestic Violence - Drug Addiction - Sexual Addiction - Food Addiction - Gambling Addiction and others.
There is a way the church can help the hurting move beyond their wounds to experience the healing and forgiveness of Christ. Since 1991, more than 200,000 people have participated in the Celebrate Recovery programs offered at more than 3,500 churches, prisons, and rescue missions.
Drawn from the Beatitudes, Celebrate Recovery helps people resolve painful problems in the context of the church as a whole.
Nov. 9, 2020 I've shared in a few other recovery workbook reviews that I am a survivor of childhood rape. And I don't mind sharing that at all because 1) I've worked SO hard on my recovery and I'm proud of that, 2) if anyone needs to hear that there's hope and there's someone to talk to, I want to be fully available, and 3) it's time survivors start dragging these ugly secrets into the light and expose the actions of perpetrators so they don't feel like they can safely sneak around in the dark anymore.
I loved this book. The first four workbooks were helpful and essential to get through before landing at books 5-8. That said, books 1-4 could feel a little rudimentary if someone comes into them already a believer who loves Jesus (yes, these books are faith based so know that going in).
I know I'm only one book in, but I feel like books 5-8 are meat and potatoes stuff that will be applicable over and over. I honestly can see myself going through them again every few years. And for anyone unfamiliar with Celebrate Recovery, these books and the program are applicable for EVERY area of recovery, from chemical dependency to domestic violence to codependency to sexual assault trauma. My one encouragement is you NEED to have a support/accountability partner while going through these books. I would actually say it may be dangerous not to.
