Alana Marshall-Hughs has her priorities. They're Prada, Tiffany's, and Gucci. The African-American princess has never met a pricey retailer that didn't practically cry with joy the minute she prances in. But now that her credit card bills have exceeded the price of her college tuition, her parents have cut her off. Alana's not going down without a fight. After all, she gets credit card applications in the mail every day, and where there's a will to shop, there's a way...right? Tall, blond Hailey Starrett grew up on a farm, making jams with her hippie parents. Now, she's making up for lost time by shopping till she drops. Hailey's determined to make it as an actress in NYC, and she just might succeed...if she can keep herself from spending it all on shoes, clothes, and accessories. The blond beauty's just been given the chance of a lifetime--starring on a soap opposite daytime's hottest hunk...and nastiest diva. But being in the spotlight means even more pressure to look good, and looking good doesn't come cheap. Or does it? Enter Marcella Rodriguez. This Queens girl likes looking fine, but she can sniff out a bargain anywhere. $1200 shoes? $800 hoodies? Girl, please Does the word "outlets" ring a bell? With her penchant for telling people exactly what she thinks, Marcella's not winning any friends behind the makeup counter. She's got her sights set on becoming a buyer, barking at clerks and bartering with wholesalers. But first, she has to work a miracle--keeping her two new best friends from going under and taking her down with them.

This story is so adorable. The girls in the story are very real I believe and they are funny as well. Love some of the places they shop! And, their guys are also done in great characterization. Very good read and it's just so cute!

I picked this book while going through the books at the library because I had some extra time. Also because the cover page was nice :-)

Basically a time-pass book, there is a definite plot and a story attached to it but its one of those usual daytime soap stuff you'll find. If you know Sex and the City, you will see that this more of its kind. So just sit back and enjoy the book and dont think much - is the idea!

I grabbed this at the library on a whim. It's kind of the novel equivalent of a mindless television show, focused mostly on shopping and soap operas. I found it entertaining in a "don't have to think too much" way, and the author did develop the characters & plot more in the second half so it had a little depth to it. Definitely a PG13 story.

This is about a couple of shopaholics, that like to go shopping and call it therapy. One totally blind to finances, and the other one who knows but spends anyways. They meet a new friend and she whips them into shape about spending habits.Funny along the way, with a few very good laughs! I enjoyed this book very much!

This was not good at all. The main character, Alana, was so annoying and had absolutely no redeemable qualities. Hailey was a tad bit better, but not much. I felt that the characters lives were not flushed out. I wanted to know more about their back stories. Hailey was more interesting and, I felt had a much better storyline.

I thought this book was somewhat entertaining, but I was bored by the "spoiled little rich girl" storyline. It redeemed itself somwhat by the end.
