****BE WARNED**** This is a work of fiction which was written for an adult audience. There are lots of hot sex scenes and adult language.

“Didn’t you get the chapters I returned this morning?” Kelsey asked.
“Yes, I did. By the way, ease off the red ink. You’re killing me here.”
“And you didn’t kill me with all those exclamation marks?” Kelsey replied. “Stop shouting at your readers with all those exclamation marks.”
“Okay, okay, point taken,” Amber said. “I want to get this installment out ASAP. “I was late with the last one, and my readers tore into me. I want to surprise them and drop this one ahead of schedule.”
“And you better not give them any cliffhangers either,” Kelsey said.
“Don’t even go there,” Amber said. “I learned my lesson on that. From now on, only happily-ever-after.”

I hope Amber gets her own story and is paired with Sal, Mason or Eddie.
This book is about the romance between Anthony Fuscillo and Kelsey Sullivan and we kick off with the author really knowing her setting of New York City and Long Island. I really liked that a lot. I think the romance develops at a good pace given the characters knew each other for a bit before things got spicy, but I was really having issues with Kelsey and her poor decisions. How the hell does she end up getting into a relationship with a small time crazed mafia guy and not really know it only to continue to make dumbass decisions that place her as a victim like she doesn’t have any sense and she’s supposed to be capable and professional who had strong men in her life like her cousin and her dad? Anthony puts up with too much crap from her for my tastes, like she knows a psycho gangster is out there obsessed with her but she keeps insisting on disregarding the sound advice and protection from Anthony who seems to be the only guy who can truly protect her properly. I don’t get why she kept putting herself in danger at all. Aside from that, my only other issue with this book is too much side story and useless description. I would’ve wanted more focus on the main love story at hand. The love scenes were hot and well written though and that usually makes up for what a story lacks in my mind, at least that’s the case here.
First, here are a few significant details that were not included in the book’s synopsis that I feel may add some context. Eddie is an undercover cop and is Anthony’s friend and partner before he quit the force to run his private investigation business. Eddie has begged Anthony to help him rescue his cousin, Kelsey, from a domestic situation. Unfortunately, Kelsey has become romantically involved with a ruthless mobster, Bernardo, a man she knew little about, but was impressed by his good looks and charm. Bernardo did not disclose to Kelsey the nature of his business or that he was married. After Bernardo's wife confronted Kelsey, she told Bernardo that their relationship was over and, she was leaving. Suffice it to say, Bernardo stringently disagreed. This is the basic framework of the book. Detailing the events in the book with more specificity would unavoidably include spoilers.
Overall, this was a very captivating story, and I enjoyed reading the book. One thing confounds me concerning Kelsey. Primarily, her naiveté concerning Bernardo's "profession" was somewhat perplexing. I suppose one could argue that subconsciously, she probably knew, but chose to ignore and suppress her natural curiosity. Further, some of her decisions were ill-advised and, in my opinion, stupid given her circumstances. That being said, I felt that underneath it all, Kelsey did have mettle, which I admired. Anthony was a great character-chivalry is not dead and bad-ass is totally OK with me! And, um, the sex was frequent with some extra, extra hotness.
There is violence in this book, none of which is gratuitous. Consequently, I strongly urge you NOT TO READ THIS BOOK if you have any qualms about books that contain mob violence and ESPECIALLY if you may be triggered by vivid depictions of violence against women/domestic abuse. Despite some of the complex subjects that are tackled in this book, there is a HEA.
In Fussilo's Way we meet the PI who assisted Gianluca DeMarco in finding out who pushed his girlfriend Allegra down the subway stairs. Anthony Fussilo former model, turned law enforcement office and know PI/Security agent to the world's rich and famous. Is called by his former partner (Eddie Sullivan) to help with a situation that is involves Eddie's cousin Kelly. Kelly had become involved with an abusive married mobster by the name of Benardo "the Brute." Kelly manages to escape Bernardo for a short while, until her finds her again. Once at the club, they see Kelly and she manages to escape with them; however, she is not happy when Fussilo and Eddie make plans to protect her and get her out of the mess she has gotten herself into.
The female lead is this book Kelly Sullivan made me want to slap her, especially when Eddie and Fussilo tried to help her and when they rescued her she got just plain silly. All of a sudden she was ganster, I am like really. Why wasn't she this way when Bernardo knocked her around. It was good seeing Gianluca, Allegra and Gianluca's father again. Sex scenes between these two were hot, but not as hot as Gianluca and Allegra.
I rated this book with three stars as the character Anthony Fussilo was well developed; however, Ms. Kelly Sullivan needs some work. What woman in her right mind walks away from a good man.
This book really touched me. Ms. Ward not only wrote about falling in love, but she gave her readers an education about the victims of domestic violence. As I was reading, I can see the scenes taking place in my mind. For example: when Bernardo was punching Kelsey face and choking and slapping Anne Marie, I felt the pain in my stomach. Like Kelsey, I could never forget the look on Anne Marie's face when she was slumped down on the floor, after Bernardo was done beating her up! Will Kelsey always be afraid of Bernadine or will Anthony' love heal her pain and give her courage to be to be whole again? Read and find out, you will not regret it!
I can't believe I am going to say this. This was too long. The story could have ended several times and been complete. Unexpected love was very beautiful and intense. Anthony and Kell were beautifully sexy and deep. Bernardo should have been squashed long ago. There is love and then there is crazy obsession. Anthony loves Kelsey, Bernardo is obsessed. I liked all of the family dynamics and banter. Not a huge fan of mafia related violence in a love story but I get a need for some once in a while.
This was such an enjoyable experience from the beginning to the end. This was the right amount of drama, suspense and action wrapped up in love. This story reads like your favorite sitcom from television. The storyline is good and the characters are likable even the supporting cast. This is definitely a keeper and one to pass along to a fellow reader.
I love when authors bring back previous characters. I also love that this author does not make the black women have curly beautiful long hair because not all of us have that kind of hair and she writes about some of the problems with hair. Also I love the way the men love their women.
This author has become one of my favorite new authors. Her books are filled with strong female and male characters, great suspense and no punctuation or voice errors. I look forward to continuing to read her stories. I'm wondering will Sal's story be next...
This story was grrrrreat!!!! It had tons of drama ,just how I love my mafia stories. The alpha men were real alphas. The characters had lots of charm. If this author keeps up with these kind of books, I'll be her #1 fan
Wow! This has everything I like in a good book. Great writing, awesome mature characters, scorching hot sex, engaging plot and action. I also loved that there was a little family drama thrown in.
I started and stopped this book and never went back. Yesterday I started it and didn't get to bed until after 1. This was a sexy cute little book. It's a bit of a spinoff from another book I read by the author but don't remember name of book. Worth a read.
Eddie Sullivan had had his back many a time. When Eddie needed Anthony Fusillo's help, he did not hesitate. But what he wasn't expecting, was to fall in love with Eddie's cousin Kelsey. It was Insta-love for Fusillo. When Kelsey laid her eyes on her cousin and Fusillo, she knew it was her chance to escape the grasp of the brutal and unethical criminal Bernardo Abruzzese. Under Fusillo's protection, Kelsey came to understand that the grumpy PI was, a good man who loved his family even though he had a strained relationship with his father. She loved watching his interactions with his young nephew. That was when she fell in love with him. Spending so much time with each other, friends and family noticed how the grumpy edges around Fusillo's personality were smoothing out. Kelsey was having a good effect on him and he was falling hard and wanting more and he was ready for that more to be with Kelsey.
Just when they think Abruzzese has finally moved on, the obsessive man strikes with the help of some corrupt cops. He was just biding his time. But he does not expect Kelsey to evolve into the woman she has become. She vowed that he would never break her again. The calvary is called out to take care of Abruzzese once and for all. It was great to see Antolino and the Demarcos coming in and bringing up the rear.
Finally, Kelsey and Tony can make plans for their HEA. I enjoyed reading this drama-filled story and couldn't wait to see what else was going to happen.
I really enjoyed this book! Kelsey was a little hard-headed and frustrating but she knows that Anthony Fusillo (the love of her life) was going to rescue her from Bernardo (the little mob boss)! I love that Skylar Ward brought in the help and family from the previous book (Allegra and Luca, etc.) and a friendship has developed. I hope that Ms. Ward makes this into a series and everyone finds love (Eddie, etc.) as well as the characters from the previous book, too. This was a great read!
My first experience with this author, and it was fabulous. I'm in love with the characters. The storyline was realistic and entertaining. I enjoy books that reference real places. If you are a New Yorker, the setting is very relatable.
Loved. Loved. Loved this book and the author is now a favorite of mine. Look forward to reading more presentations from them.
Skylar Ward is definitely on my authors to watch for list. I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Anthony was a lonely man longing for love and Kelsey was a hurt woman hoping to retreat and heal, when these two came to together both of their hearts' desire were met but at a sedate mature pace, a refreshing change from the insta-lust/love combo. There were parts of the story that I felt were too over shadowed by the romance plot, but aside from that this is a lovely tale that I would definitely recommend!
Kelsey was naïve when she first met Bernardo she succumbed to his good looks how he wined and dined her and always seemed to know what she wanted and needed. When she asked him about the depth of their relationship he always had a reason why he could not divorce his wife. Kelsey learned too late who the real man was. Now trapped she calls on her cousin Eddie who also seeks the help of his best friend Anthony Fusillo to keep her safe but whose going to keep her safe from the trappings of Antony. This is an intense story with lots of drama you will be held captive until the very last page.
What a great read! It is hard to explain what is about besides romantic love but the characters have sparks, swagger and a great relationship! I loved it!
