The final two parts examine global society and the position of the individual. It is structured to mirror the way Sociology is taught on many A Level and university courses with each chapter covering a key introductory area. By the end you'll have a clear understanding of the essential principles of sociology.
My dad found this at a community library and I decided to give it a read. I took a course in sociology so all the content was familiar. I thought this read was an appropriate introduction to Sociology, however, I do note the amount of personal anecdotes and opinions. I would have loved to see internal citations regarding the book's content, as I couldn’t tell whether it was creative writing or fact—an easy read to understand basic sociology.
Received free through GoodReads First Reads - thank you.
Although this book covers a wide number of topics it's easy to get into as it's not massive blocks of texts one after the other. Instead the book in broken up with quotes, Case Studies, Key Ideas, Dig Deeper, and Did You Know sections. I found the Test Your Knowledge sections at the end of each chapter very useful.
Excellent title which I'll be passing onto my niece due to start university next year.
