Kazimir is dead, my dad is back in Russia, and Damon is back at New Hope Academy. Things should be good now. Except I might maybe have feelings for Tristan. And my brother Alik is in town. Also, my mom is missing, and the person who took her is threatening me. Things are more complicated than ever.
This is the third book in the New Hope Academy Series. This is a completed YA mystery romance series. Book 1: Fate Book 2: Luck Book 3: Fame Book 4: Wish
I'm Scarlett Haven. I write YA and NA books and I write a lot. My books are a fun mixture of romance, mystery, and now some paranormal too!
Besides writing, I also love to read anything I can get my hands on and I'm always drawn to the villain of the story. I am 29 years old and am married to the love of my life.
With Kazimir dead all should be back to normal except it isn't as Kat has finally confessed to both Tristan and Damon that the guy she loves is, in fact, Tristan, not Damon. Kat's older brother Alik has arrived in the States and popped by New Hope Academy to see Kat and let her know that their mum has left her dad. The thing is though that this isn't a good thing and means only one thing - their mother has been kidnapped or found out that she is working for the other side. Now the pair of them will pool their resources along with Kat's dad to try and find her mother. One of Damon's bodyguard also looks like he is a double agent - will this put Damon and Kat in more danger? We discovered that Tristan attended the Spy School in Switzerland which made me smile as I loved Scarlett Haven's The Spy Chronicles which feature the school and has now made me want the third book even more - so Scarlett, hurry up please :P. Fame ended on a cliffhanger with Kat and Damon being kidnapped themselves and last seen being sped away in a black car. I am now looking forward to reading Episode #4 Wish and finishing off I assume the New Hope Academy Series.
The story is interesting, but the typos were off putting. I still read it as i was hooked and completed the 4 book series in a single Saturday of binge reading :) happy :)
Fame is another fast-paced and action packed book, filled with even more drama and danger. Every book in this series gets increasingly more dramatic and more of a thrilling. At the end of Luck, their plan to take care of Kazimir works and he’s killed. Everything seems to be settling down but the real danger has just begun.
Katerina’s mother disappears along with Dimitri’s fiancé Elana. Alik comes to America to look after Katerina and try to figure out what is going on with their family. Katerina is worried sick about her mother and fearing that her father was involved in her disappearance but not wanting to believe it.
Katerina and Damon start dating at homecoming but their relationship is complicated because of his father being the President. Everything the First Son does is watched and speculated on by the public and Katerina quickly grows sick of being the center of gossip and stares. The exposure also puts her in danger.
Things rapidly fall apart between Katerina and Damon. She goes from being super into him to suddenly turning around and saying she doesn’t like him after all and she’s actually in love with Tristan. It was completely out of nowhere and the age difference between them isn’t as concerning as the fact that she’s underage and he’s 21.
The entire romance issue gets pretty tedious. Katerina and Damon discuss their relationship issues far more than they’re ever actually in a relationship. The romance between Katerina and Tristan develops really suddenly. Tristan talks about how jealous he was of Damon even though he gave no indication before.
The transitions were also somewhat abrupt and there were still quite a few typos. There are a lot of ideas in such a short book that there are a lot of loose ends that are just left hanging and never come together. Katerina’s roommate and other friends also barely make any appearances.
I liked getting to know Katerina’s brother Alik. Their relationship is a lot of fun and you can feel that they really care about each other and are distraught about what’s happening to their family. Their relationship adds a lot of background to Katerina and her personality.
Overall, I still enjoyed Fame a lot. Aside from my issue with the romance, I really enjoyed all the action and drama, it was a rollercoaster of a ride and the book ends on a pretty major cliffhanger. There are a few big plot twists that really catch me by surprise and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out in the last book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Her love life is as out of control as her personal family life. People are trying to kill her and everyone thinks she is cheating on Damon. This was definitely a fast paced storyline.
I can’t believe what just happened that was absolutely crazy. Poor Kat why do people have it out for her ? I wonder what the truth is about her brother’s death. I also wonder what up with Tristan’s family.
Like the previous books in this series, there are so many mistakes and grammatical errors that it makes it difficult to read the book. It's really too bad, because this is a fun, exciting and very entertaining series. Katerina was sent to the USA for school, but really for her safety. Her father is a Russian crime boss/terrorist and her other is working with the US government to try to stop him. After briefly dating Damon, the POTUS's son, she realized her true feelings for Tristan, her bodyguard. But there is a significant age difference, so they can't really date or be together anyway. And now to add more drama, her mother and her brother's ex-fiancée have been kidnapped. The series keeps getting more intriguing and interesting. I just wish the author had spent the time to have it edited more effectively.
Katerina's education continues and so does the danger. Her romantic life is combined with the international backstory of this book would make an excellent story if the mistakes were fixed. The story ends on an epic cliffhanger.
Gah, I get it. Russia is better. Americans are weird. You are Russian. You love Jesus. Russia. Jesus. Love. Marriage. Sixteen. Damon. Tristan. You are mature. Russian.
This series is bad. And needs an editor and proofreader.
