The friend zone has never felt so hot.

When Trish Howell's boyfriend of ten years dumps her unexpectedly, she heads back to her hometown for the summer to pick up the pieces of her broken life. Now she's at the center of the dreaded gossip mill, missing the city, and bartending at the local Irish pub so she can make enough money to put small town life in her rearview mirror once and for all.

The last thing Tony DiAngelo expects to see when he walks into Paddy's, is the girl he’d crushed on since they were kids. She may have friend-zoned him back then, but he isn’t the scrawny, timid guy from high school anymore, and he’ll be damned if he doesn’t take his shot with her, even if it means agreeing to her temporary friends-with-benefits proposal.

As the days go from sunny to scorching, so do things between Trish and Tony, and the hotter things get, the harder they fall. But staying was never part of her plan and when Tony makes a proposal of his own, Trish's feelings are too complicated for a one-word answer.

Now she has to decide whether she can trust her heart enough to trade her big city life for the small town love she never saw coming.

ASK ME AGAIN was a quick and really enjoyable read about realizing the perfect person was there all along. I loved how confident but also genuinely nice Tony was and the way he supports and encourages Trish was great. These two were on fire together and their many years of friendship gave them a great foundation for a relationship. I also loved the meaning behind the title and how it was used in the story, very cute!

Short and sweet! Ms. Maxwell is one of my favorite go-to authors. And she reminded me of why after reading ASK ME AGAIN. I understand that Nick cut Trish to the bone and she hated to run back to her small home town. But I didn't understand why she had to hurt Tony so deeply, when all he wanted to do was love her and prove that all men weren't as selfish and stupid as Nick. ( Nook Edition)

Oh gosh.. the feels with this story! I absolutely love the fact that this novella was loosely based on Tricia and TJ's story. I have read many books and while reading you know that some parts just don't happen in real life. This book on the other hand you just KNEW that what was happening actually does/did happen to some in real life. Thank you Gina for writing this amazing story and sharing it with the world. Congratulations Tricia and TJ on your baby boy and many more congratulations to the ones to come. I love your story and I'm so happy you found your happily ever after.

Trisha just got dumped by the boyfriend of 10 years. Back in her hometown, best friend Tony, who has had feelings for her forever, wants to take what he can get with her. She continues to friend zone him, but with some benefits. After months of being the guy who’s just a good time, Tony goes for more. Trish panics and they spend some time apart. During this time, Trish has to figure out what she wants. Small town life and a future with Tony, or a new beginning in Chicago. Great characters and story. Love the author and will definitely read more!

3-3.5 stars. Friends to lovers with steam and emotion. I liked the premise of the story. Tony, Trisha's friend since childhood, was perfect for Trisha except she didn't see that right away as she was trying to mend her broken heart. She didn't want to make permanent plans to live in her hometown either. But the point was how Tony made her feel and it wouldn't matter where Trisha went, she wouldn't have Tony there and he was her home. And this was inspired by a true story.

I love Gina Maxwell's books and wish she wrote more! Tony was a wonderful everyday hero, a teacher (yeah!) and a patient coach of a kindergarten soccer team. I love that this well-written story was loosely based on a relative of the author's. It felt authentic with a light, positive vibe that made it highly enjoyable. I can't understand why Trish would ever turn down the perfect Tony, but she eventually realized what she had. "Ask Me Again" was a perfect title.

This is a short and fast read.. but I loved every minute of it... Tony and Trish were great together and I hate what Nick did to her to put doubt in her mind. I think we have all been down that road of thought of “ What if I’m not good enough “ or “ What if this doesn’t work out “. Tony was a thoughtful and caring guy and it broke my heart when she turned him down. But I’m glad she realized what she had and how great they could be together. Tony is definitely swoon worthy.

A fast story about friends turned lovers. Extremely hot and sizzling sexy scenes! This author knows how to write flaming hot sex! The ending and the obligatory conflict was contrived so I didn't really care for how they resolved their time apart so quickly. It just seemed rather lame as compared to the rest of the story which was pretty good and interesting.

This is a very quick read, good for a summer afternoon. It's sort of a second chance, but only on one side. Tony has had a thing for Trish since third grade; she never had a clue. She's finally back in town and he's going to lay it all on the line.

Great and Easy Read

I liked how there was ups and downs without the book. I always think it’s awesome when an author uses the title in the book. It was really hot to see the boy-next-door be both charming and salacious.

A cute little novella made all the cuter for the note at the end that reminds us this is the story of the author's sister and her husband (not sure how much, but it was written for them). Trish comes back to her hometown after spending 9 years with a guy and breaking up because they realized they wanted different things in life. So Trish is a little gun shy and not ready to jump into a relationship. So she's perfectly happy to start up a little sex-only affair with local hottie, Tony. He's had a crush on her since high school and is in it for the long haul, but is willing to do this on Trish's terms for a while. But he perceives things are changing between them, so he thinks it's likely that her wants are changing as well. So he puts his heart on the line...

This was sweet, and it had quite a bit of angst there at the end. The angst pretty much starts with Tony's ill advised which had me cringing the whole way through just knowing how it was going to turn out. And predictably it did turn out how I guessed. So this ratchets up the angst as Trish tries to get her head on straight so she can maybe unbreak Tony's heart. I so wanted more grovel here...or maybe a bit more talking between them without the whole town listening. Trish does debase herself pretty well though, but without a lot of acknowledgement of how much she hurt Tony. But I really did like the whole "Ask Me Again" work in, especially in the epilogue. This really was a cute story.
