After college, Laura Marie Altom did a brief stint as an interior designer before becoming a stay-at- home mom to boy/girl twins. Always an avid romance reader, when she found herself replotting the afternoon soaps, she knew it was time to try her hand at writing.
Outcast by Laura Marie Altom SEAL Team: Disavowed Book Two Jasper King had vowed never to allow himself to fall in love. He didn't deserve to after what his foolish younger self had done. He'd done well with that vow. Joining the Navy and then working for Trident, Inc. with his other disavowed SEAL brothers. Did real well, until she came into his life. And then left it.
Eden Marabella had the rest of her life planned. Starting with one last visit to Antarctica, where her father's life work had been. She missed Jasper but there was no way she'd put him through what her father had gone through with her mother. And then all heck broke out and even though she pushed him away...Jasper came to help her.
Great series. Both this story and book one, Rogue, are action packed with romance lingering on the edges. Romance being secondary as the guys are a bit too busy saving their women at the moment to stop to buy flowers. Looking forward to the rest of the stories. Book three is Shunned. **Sexual content and language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
In this book, we've met the hero in the prior book. He was dating a woman who all of a sudden broke it off with him and then went to Antarctica to be with her father. When he gets a cryptic message from her he knows she's in trouble. He tells the others in his team and off he goes to see what's happening.
When he finally arrives, with an escort for the area, they find the living area deserted and then some blood. They also find one of the other scientists there acting like nothing is the matter. Shortly after, the scientist has some friends join him and before long the escort is dead and our hero is fighting for his life. Before long he finds our heroine, but she's acting weird and knows there's something still going on. Then he finds out what's going on - these other soldiers think they've found something with a lot of money and they think the heroine can tell them where, but she doesn't know anything.
Soon they are on the run and the heroine remembers other areas where her father and mother would go and they find her father. The down side is the baddies find them as well. Will they make it out alive? Who will get the treasure?
Not a bad plot for the book, and it did take you to areas you weren't expecting. However, in some areas it seemed to go on forever. You could identify with the hero and heroine, but sometimes the heroine did get on my nerves by the things she'd say and do. Once again, not a bad story.
History, science, SEALS oh my...This story picks up shortly after book one where were first introduced to Jasper and he mentioned a special person. Now they are in horrific conditions and on the run for their lives.
The story is fast paced and very descriptive. The locations sounds majestic and scary at the same time. While both Eden and Jasper are fighting to save their lives we learn they are also individually fighting some personal battles.
The rest of the SEALs only show up at the end, but it is still great to see them and see how they interact. The history and treasure chest part are entertaining and enough to make me want to do some research!
This is an exciting action packed book. Jasper King flies to Antarctica to see what is happening to his girlfriend Eden Marabella. She left weird message and he can’t reach her at her father’s scientific station. When he arrives to find the station empty except for a crazy scientist (who escapes) and Eden bound and drugged. They are on the run in freezing snowy weather from crazed German soldiers. Not knowing who to trust and dealing with their own personal issues calls for fun times. Grab a blanket and some hot chocolate in sympathy for our H and h and dive into this one!
In Laura Marie Altom's second Seal Team book, the reader is immediately embroiled in an age-old mystery that has caused a recent wildlife massacre and put Eden Marabella, the heroine of this book, in mortal danger. Of course, Jasper King, disavowed Navy SEAL and the man she had been spending most of her time with, drops everything and speeds off to a frozen continent to save her from herself and the villains closing in on her. This story will sweep you away with one thrilling situation after another and that does not include the life-threatening circumstances and hidden dangers that continued to come out of nowhere. Enjoy this story because it was a Great Read!!!!
Eden and Jasper dated casually until she broke it off with no explanation. When he receives a call from her suggesting she's in danger, he heads to Antarctica to check on her. He finds himself in a treasure hunt that verges on fantastical with life and death consequences. He convinces her that their relationship is worth fighting for but first they have to survive their current situation.
Set in Antartica where an evil group believe Eden's father has found Hitler's treasure. After Jasper listens to Eden's dropped call he races to Antartica to find out what has gone wrong. Eden's coworkers have all been killed and she is being held hostage Jasper rescues her from this group and now they on the run to find Eden's father and the answer.
What a wonderful book full of surprises. Hidden treasure. Lying dear friends. Death and destruction. Could not put the book down. Loved every minute of it. Wonderful happy ending. Can not wait to read book 3. Keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.
I am loving this series already and this is only the second book! Exciting action, romance, humor! Great interaction between the characters and lots of twists! 👍👍💓💖
For a guy who won’t commit, Jasper follows Eden to the literal bottom of the Earth. Surviving the elements, running from danger, and trying to find away home.
Gah Mrs. Altom what are you doing to me? Look I have been a fan of Mrs. Altom's ever since I read one of her Harlequin books. But ever since I heard of these SEAL team books coming out I couldn't wait to read them. Unfortunately I haven't read the first one in this series yet. But let me tell you I have a thing for Military Romance books, especially SEAL's. So when I got a chance to review this book let me tell you I thought it would be a smart idea to start it late at night. I mean I've done that plenty of other times with other books. Boy oh Boy, I should have just waited to start this book the next morning. This book pulled me in from the beginning and held my attention till the very end. I couldn't put it down once I started an stayed up reading until late into the night.
I really enjoyed Eden's character. I thought she was sweet and caring. Eden finds herself in Antarctica at her father's research station harboring a secret about her health. Which had caused her to break up with Jasper and basically to run off and hide. Though while she is at the research station things go from being fine to turning dangerous very quickly. Eden finds that not only does she have her own secrets, that there are other's that have secrets also.
I loved Jasper right off the bat. He was sweet, caring, protective and also had his own demons resting on his shoulders. Jasper finds himself chasing Eden to Antarctica after receiving a cryptic message from her and trying to find out why she suddenly broke up with him. What he doesn't realize is that he is quickly going to be thrown into a life and death situation with Eden.
I loved seeing Jasper and Eden together and the banter between them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I said at the beginning of this review this book pulled me in from the very first line to the end. I'm not sure what I expected from this book, but it wasn't what I got. Not that, that is a bad thing. This book was suspenseful and intriguing. Mrs. Altom spins a wonderful tale of an world under the Antarctic ice. She kept me guessing and wondering who the bad guy was through out the whole book.
I'm giving this book 4.5 Stars out of 5 and am now going back to read the first book!!!! And can't wait to read the next book Shunned!!!!
**I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review***
The second book in the SEAL Team: Disavowed series does not disappoint! It's full of intrigue and has you trying to figure out who the good guys are right up until the end. It was nice seeing the guys again from the first book in the series, Rogue ... and can't wait for Book 3 to get here!
Eden Marabella is fretting about the injustice of life when she arrives at her father's research site in Antartica to join him on an excursion. She's just broken up with sexy ex-SEAL, Jasper King and is wishing things could have been different.
Jasper is at his wits end when he receives a voicemail from Eden and at the end, she says "They're all dead", then the call suddenly drops and he's not able to reach her back. He uses his connections to make his way to Antartica to check on her. He arrives to find her father missing, strange happenings going on with the crew, and Eden being held hostage with demands for her to tell where a Nazi treasure vault is located. Will they figure out what is going on and make it out safely?
Antartica is the setting of this wild adventure. A group of neo-nazi believe Eden's father found Hitler's treasure house in Antártica. Jasper after listening to her dropped call raced to her to see what was wrong The Neo-nazi group had killed all of Eden's coworkers and are holding her hostage for the treasures. Jasper rescues her from this first group and now they on the lam to find Eden's father and the answer.
Boy oh boy does Laura Marie Altom take the reader for a ride in the second book of the series, Disavowed. A quick read and more importantly, you don't have to have read the 1st book in order to understand the story. It even includes a cat! Wonderful characters and keeps you guessing who you can really trust in the end.
I am loving this new series by Ms Altom! Action packed and full of suspense, this is one story you will not want to put down. The characters are endearing, easy to connect with and well developed. I highly recommend this quick read and can't wait to read the next book.
