On the run... New city...New identity is the new Chloe Green. Not the broken, scarred and frail Kelly Ward.

Trying to build a new life towards her life-long goal of becoming a teacher, she accepts a job at one of the most prestigious gentlemen clubs in Rhode Island as a pole dancer. Her goal - save as much money as she can...No Men...No Distractions.

That is until she meets Derek Stark. Self-made Millionaire, dark haired, blue-eyed and a body of a gladiator. He wants Chloe...but does he have an ulterior motive? Is he connected to her old life somehow - Kelly Wards life? She soon discovers that Derek does have secrets of his own, secrets that will change her life forever...right before Jesse is released from prison and is ready to start hunting her.

Interesting story in need of editing

This book would benefit from a good editor. There are spelling and grammar mistakes sprinkled liberally throughout the book, a lot of repetition. In places there were even unfinished sentences. While it has promise, the poor editing affected my attention span. It started off better than it finished. I could think of ways to erase at least 100 pages that would make this infinitely more readable. On the whole a nice typical-romance-happy-ending type story. Perhaps my review is colored by my lack of affinity for this genre.

First half: 4 stars
Second half: 2 stars
Overall rating: 3 stars

I'm not a huge fan on contemporary romances, so I should have known this wasn't for me. The writing was good. The first half of the book definitely had me interested. Chloe was trying to move on with her life after her boyfriend tried to kill her. Derek was a charmer. There was an unusual twist involving Chloe's past. It was obvious from what had happened to Chloe that her ex-boyfriend was a psycho, so it was completely unnecessary to use his POV often in the last half of the book. I didn't need to be in his head to know that he was heartless and wanted her dead. The bad people were pure evil, and the good people were so good they were practically saints. The story was about 250 pages too long. I skimmed a lot in the second half.

this was a 3.5 star read for me. The premise of the book was great however that isn't how it went. First the series was to long and drawn out. This is a Danielle Steele kinds of book(s). It needed to be a little more grittier. Way to much crying for me and everyone except the ex were really nice great people. I was waiting to read about unicorns and rainbows. This is the first I have read from this author and I was left very disapointed

Sucks!!!

This book sucked! It was recommended by an by an author that I really love via her Facebook page, so I read it...this author has obviously never been in abusive situations, especially child abuse or truly physically abusive relationships because if she had this book would not have played out like it did!!!! People that have suffered abuse would never have reacted like the main character did in this book and the way this author represented her character minimized those women that have really been through abuse, overcame it, and really found love after all they went through! Especially the initial trust and sharing struggles that people that have been truly abused must fight! I realize this is just a story, but authors, quit writing about stuff you don’t truly understand!

Cute

This was a pretty good story. 3.5 Stars. I would have given more, but the book was not edited very well. It held my interest, but I could put it down. There was one part that was very emotional, which I loved. I felt like Derek's character, in particular, was one dimensional, considering he is one of the primary characters in the story.

This story could easily be based off a true story.I have heard horror stories similar to the story in this book. There is abuse, terror, pain and heart break throughout this book. There is also a strong woman, Chloe who suffered through it all and believed in hope, a chance to move forward from the past love and got to have her happy ever after.

I enjoyed the strong, beautiful and courageous Chloe and her awful yet inspiring story. The characters in this book are very likable, other than the ones we are not meant to like. The story itself flows well and it kept me hooked from start to finish.Smooth sailing!

I gave this book 4 stars out of 5. It lost a star because in the story Chloe kept a diary. So after reading any events that had happened ended up in the Diary. So it was like reading it again but it a shorter version. ( Had to skim through. I really dislike having to Skim through any book.) Other than that it was pretty good!

Amazing

This is a well written book of how a girl can live thru so much abuse and still become a strong and independent woman. Her love and how her and Derek get thru all the turmoil and still have such a loving life is truly amazing. This is one of my best reads yet

Ugh, Too Much Like a Bad Movie

This was my first read by this author and my last. Scarred (box set) reads like a a really bad B-rate movie. Frankly I'm not sure how this series has over 500 reviews and 5-stars. The author definitely not off more than she can chew. Walker wrote a superfluous amount of material that really fails to propel this story forward. Um, what's the point of 2pages of diary entries at the begging of very chapter that only summarize the action of the preceding chapter? and really, our Berlin's boyfriend is on the "Forbes Too10 wealthiest" list but calls his Dad to arrange security? Those are just two issues I've with Walker's Scarred.

Spoilers ahead: Chloe meets Derek. They both have secrets. Derek's secret is that he was married to Chloe twin. Only Chloe was adopted inasmuch Derek is the one to inform her that she has a family and apparently was stolen at birth. That alone is then good makings of a romance read. But no.this author has to go Hollywood-on-the-page.

Complicating this plot twist is that Chile's ex-boyfriend is about to get out of prison (a two year sentence for assault; he tried to kill Chloe). So, of course, the ex-boyfriend is a psycho and begins HuntingdOn and anyone she cares about. Chloe lures him to her apartment and kills him in an act of self-defense. HEA. The author really should be made a decision on which plot twist to focus vs. trying for two.

Wow what a rollercoaster!!
This book had me in tears literally. It was so emotionally driven and so heartwrenchingly sad and filled with such deep emotions that tug on ur heart strings.
The book covers very disturbing elements of abuse but centres on how Chloe deals with her issues.
This book is the full set of 5 books that covers all the successes and setbacks that occur in her life towards her happily ever after.
Her love interest in the book is Derek who has had tragedy in his life.
I loved how he was with Chloe and how he understood her so well.
I loved Chloe strength in regard to the steps she took in order to overcome her fears and her past. It was a joy to behold.
I was rooting for her and Derek right from the beginning.
I loved the supporting characters in the book such as Chloe’s best friends, Derek’s father and brother and the Whitmores too.
I was sad when the book ended as i didnt want to leave them. Going along with Chloe on her journey as she discovered so many truths and lies in her life was a rollercoaster and felt so happy at the end.
I would have loved it if there was a scene where Chloe called her parents Mum and Dad instead of by their name.
I would have liked to know what happened to Chloe’s adoptive family.
A totally
Fabulous read. Very hard to put down and to get on with responsibilities.
Highly recommended.

Really good read!

This was a really good book. I usually don't read romance stories. I'm not really into all the love stuff. But something about the title and the cover caught my attention. And thank goodness it did because the story was incredible.

There was so much to this story. It moved really fast. I loved part of this story. Abuse by someone who is supposed to love you is a really painful thing. But then they are remorseful and full of promises to never do that again. Until the next time you do something wrong, or say something wrong, or look at them wrong. They never change and the best thing you can do for yourself is run. As fast and as far as you can.

That's what this story is about. Chloe ran and changed her name and the way she looked. Unfortunately, I never met the man of my dreams. But then this wouldn't be a romance of Chloe hadn't met Derek.

You really should read this book. It's a story of incredible strength. Even if you have never been in an abusive relationship the author makes you feel the pain and see the scars. The story isn't just about the pain though. It's about being strong. Taking your fear and making it into strength. And there is the romance. That's the really good part of the story.

Love

I loved this book I resembles so much off what's we all have to endure either one or more off the following pain abuse love but some people go through all off it. I was adopted as a baby and they was ok but sometime I got hit or had something thrown at me but it was by my adopted mother. I left when I was 16 years old to live with my really day but the partner I was with was 26 years old than me and I was scared off him so I left my dad's to go with him as I didn't have banging else I could do after 6 month he beat me every time he had a drink and that was everyday after 4year I got out and stayed with one off my friends mum's and that's were I meat my partner and have a beautiful daughter together. We have been together nearly 10 years and out daughter is nearly 9 years old and we are happy but I also have trouble conceiving another baby which is what we would like to have another baby so I can relate to this book is so many ways in my life I think that's why I loved it some much I couldn't put this book down I was happy when she could finely be free as Jesse was dead and chole could live her life without feer and looking over her shoulder all the time thank you for writing this book

This was a good series. I downloaded the complete set so I read it as one long book and so I’m not sure if that makes a difference in my perception of this series. I liked the message the author is trying to make with this series and she definitely drives that home not only throughout the book but also in the epilogue. I liked the plot twist. The author did a good job leading up to and I was emotionally invested. I was drawn in and engaged with the characters and was rooting for them throughout the book. Oops. Series. There were errors peppered throughout the book and some chapters or even moments seem drug out. I’m not sure if the author needed filler or more books or what was going on. I think this could be a much better series - or even just one really great novel with a great editor. I’m a little on the fence though with the ending. Why did the author choose to have Vince Donovan (Jesse’s father) threaten to sue and then go no where with it? That should have either been completely left out, or explored further. I kept waiting for more, some sort of resolution on that, besides two sentences saying he’d probably given up on the civil suit due to all of the publicity. It just seemed like an afterthought. The author spent a painstakingly long time describing Chloe’s birthday, spa day, pregnancy and delivery, even gave us the birth stats of their child! Which I thought was odd. I don’t think I’ve ever seen birth stats in a novel unless it was relevant to the story. I thought there were a lot of minute details that could have been left out and it would have made a much better read. All of the “happily ever after” could have been written in one chapter, or even an epilogue and easily cut out pages and pages of “fluff”.

So as the blurb says this I'd about a young woman who has lived through abuse and is trying to live her life.

Honestly I really wanted to love this book, it sounded really good. In truth I pushed through hoping for the big storyline promised but wasn't delivered.

In parts is was, but honestly the main character with the Insta-love storyline... It just didn't seem realistic for the MC and hoenstly that bugged me so much.

And really all the characters absolutely adoring her... I know we surround ourselves with people we like but honestly we also deal with people we really don't like on a daily basis and we deal with it... Its frustrating that this doesn't even exist in this world other than the main protagonist.

Also the unnessessary side line with the protagonists father... Annoying especially as it didn't lead anywhere... It made me excited for more plot but no such luck.

The whole main scene (you know where I mean the whole story built up to it) was just disappointing it was no where near detailed enough there just wasn't enough of it for such a long buildup.

3.5

I really liked this series. The plot was solid although I found the writing style to be pretty juvenile. I did have to suspend belief throughout and had a bunch of “oh come on” moments.

I thought it was ridiculous that Kelly called Chantelle instead of dialing 911 herself. How Jesse kept getting so close without detection was infuriating. Also purchasing and registering cars in Rhode Island and New York is trial in patience. It’s not nearly as easy as Ms Walker made it seem. If Jesse had just stolen the cars I would have bought into his auto swapping a lot more.

I would have liked to see Tom and Marg Ward brought to justice; or at least a little comeuppance. But the series had to end so maybe that’s why the author didn’t take that route.

Finally, I thought the editing could have been better. To instead of too in many places. Jesse’s name as Jessie throughout. Anyways, although accepted, should be anyway.

I will read other books by Ms Walker.

Great story

I found out about this book on Facebook and after looking at the comments thought I would give it ago. It's a great book and a great story I couldn't put it down I just had to know what was going to happen. The only faults I can find is like other people have said in their reviews it is a bit long winded at the end. I was just waiting for something to happen and it never did could definitely ended the story earlier and mabey made the story at the end longer and also like other people have said (spoiler alert) I want to know what her birth parents were going to do about her being taken from them and they did nothing about her adoptive father abusing her it just seemed a bit strange to me that nothing more was said about it all. Apart from that it was a good book that I really enjoyed the second story was really good as well but until the end I didn't realise that it was Jake and roxi from the first story lol.

Not for me, but ....

I'll start off with the usual: great stories, great characters with only a few grammatical errors. There were two stories and a teaser. The 1st story, Scarred, it an emotional roller coaster. Well thought out characters with life lessons you can take to heart. My favorite part is the justified death. I won't say more as I don't want to give the story away.

The 2nd story, please forgive me for not remembering the title, was a different kind of story from Scarred, but was a good read as well.

Now, as I said, these are not my usual type of stories as the are close to real life scenarios and I'm a "avoid reality" kind of person. However, I don't regret reading them, especially since they ended in He as.

So, I'll leave with this. If you like a real life type story, that jerks at the heartstrings, then I recommend this book. It's a worthwhile read.

A compelling read; mostly. there was a great plot line with the ex-boyfriend and the recreated life in another city made evermore readable by running into the hot billionaire of the new city. I liked reading this a lot, however, I found that closer to the end of the book, the story seemed to lose its way.

Without revealing too many spoilers, after the main storyline had been wrapped up, there were several more chapters that almost seemed pointless. The characters were all living happily ever after and there was nothing left to drive the plot. The one possible storyline to keep the story moving never actually amounted to anything and was left without an explanation. There was also some serious editing needed to be done on the last part of the writing, it almost seemed as if it had been added in as an afterthought and there had been no work put into editing or even rereading to check for mistakes.

Oh, my...break out the tissues, and grab some chocolates!

If you like a steamy romance with seemingly insurmountable and painful life issues, this is for you. This book is very well written, the characters come alive, and I felt an immediate bond with our heroine.

She’s a tough, resilient soul with a lot of heart, and her trials here broke my heart thoroughly. I haven’t cried this much in a long time. I was afraid my husband would find me sobbing and make me stop reading. This one hit home for me on so many levels it isn’t fair. The good thing is, our couple comes together through a lot of pain and they are strong for each other.

They have some help from some wonderful people who I’m sure I’ll read more about later, and our Chloe blossoms in ways that are inspiring and heartwarming. It’s nerve-wracking, sizzling, and has down-to-earth characters that I loved. I’m looking forward to reading everything I can find by this author.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. I nearly gave up on it so many times - I didn't gel with the lead character, Chloe. I found her very unrealistic and she had nothing likeable. My biggest problem with the book was that I felt the author wasn't sure what kind of book they wanted to write... a thriller, or a romance/porno. I began to enjoy the book more when the ex boyfriend was introduced as a character with his darkness and psychopathic behaviours. His unpredictability made me carry on reading. The repetitive language and metaphors in the sex scenes were a bit of a turn off to be honest.

I probably wouldn't recommend this book and can't imagine I will read any others from this author. The ending left me quite fulfilled though, it had a childlike happy ending to it. I feel bad leaving a slightly negative review as I imagine authors work incredibly hard when writing books, this one was just not for me. I read part 1-6 all as one book.

Do not recommend

I had trouble wading through this and skimmed most of it. The heroine was whiny and annoying, and everything went too easily in the heroine's favor so that it was too predictable and annoyingly sweet. Last, the love interest was too nice and forgiving while totally creeping and grossing me out due to his past relationship. Also, I couldn't stand how the main characters talked to each other once they were in love. The phrase, "Gag me with a spoon" was apt while try to wade the rough their love dialogue. Way too much rehashing/repetition and too much time spent carrying on and on about a character's thoughts with the multiple points of view. Would not recommend.

Amazing on all levels!!!

Such a wonderful series! I loved Chloe and her strength! It was almost like a self help book wrapped up in a romance novel. I learned so much from her. I liked that it wasn't predictable either that I'm finding in books I've been reading lately. The love story is incredible and the sex scenes were very well written and steamy! I liked that the beginning of their relationship wasn't overly a cat and mouse game that ends up becoming monotonous and annoying like so many other books out there. Once the intentions of Derek were laid out the birth of their relationship felt natural and realistic. Great book and I can't wait to find more books by this author.

A bit tense

Although I enjoyed the first one which I found quite gripping by the time I'd got to the second I was kind if skimming over parts especially the more sexual reading which was basically the same for every individual couple ......the story in the first book was actually engrossing ..I enjoyed the storyline but it ended really quick and I was unaware that I'd started reading the second one .The 3rd didn't really interest me ...it wasn't written in the same way as the others as it was more gang related .
To be honest these aren't the type of books I usually read but fancied a change so when it came up on my suggested list I thought I'd give it a go however I think I'll go back to my preferred genre .Overall enjoyed the first but that's about it .

Enjoyable
I am glad I read this as one book, I hate cliff hangers and this book is laced with them. A good storyline and believable characters I just wish Chloe got to kick his arse a little longer considering what he had been doing.

I was alarmed to read Epilogue at the top of the page but 3.5 hours of reading time left in the book as I completed the HEA.

The 3.5 hours gave me the Pierce Brothers. Hmm a little fairy folkish as no self respecting mafia king pin would allow a girlie to behave in that fashion. Don't get me started with Alex who was nothing more than a bully and an obnoxious twat. Brother Damian was so much nicer.

Typos and grammar aside, the promise was there but maybe it was written as YA but the sex scenes say Nope!

Fantastic

When I 1st started reading this, I didn't think I was going to enjoy it. Usually I read books with a first person POV so I was unsure with this being third person POV. I thought it was going to be an easy romance novel that I could pick up as and when. I was so wrong!
After part 1 i couldn't put my kindle down (thankfully I was ill and had nothing else i needed to do). I have laughed, cried and been on the edge of my seat. This just had everything and I really liked all of the main characters, I felt I knew them all so well and I am feeling the start of a book hangover as I don't want to leave them. I am so glad this was the full series as I could not have waited to find out what happened next.

Wow 4 1/2 stars!

I can not articulate how much this book impressed me, wowed me, griped me, shook me, broke me, destroyed me but ultimately mended me. Loved it! It's a must read. Have tissues on hand!
Now for the reason it got 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 is I felt there should of been a bit more about maybe her dad paying for what he did in same way... also there seem to never be any hospital visits for all she went through as a child and adult? Surly there should be some mention of that an more than just one curious person when she was a child? I kinda couldn't get past that, surly there would of been numerous hospital visits and at least some curious teachers and/or doctors...

Amazing!

I can't tell you enough how amazing this book was. If I had a free moment I was reading this book. I didn't want to put it down. Everything about this book is just so amazingly well written. I cried, got angry and laughed a little. This book gave me everything a book should give someone. You loved, got angry and felt sorry for everything that Chloe went through. It truly was an amazing book to read. It teaches you that pain does go away. To stick up for yourself and to never give up. This was a book, but it was also a lesson to anyone, pain goes away. Just like Chloe kept saying at the end. Pain goes away.

Ummm...

This book was all over the place. I know it is "fiction" but you'd be lying to yourself if you said ANY of the things in this book "could" happen. The editing wasn't so great; some sentences needed to be tighted up or completely omitted. I'm shocked they missed that Kevin was spelled with an I throughout the book until the end when it was spelled Keven.

I did like the abuse storyline. It was wonderful to read her overcome such difficult obstacles. Even though it made me sick to my stomach to read some of the scenes the end result was so worth it. I couldn't get behimd the love story though, it was too creepy. Marrying your dead wife's twin is too much for me.

This book is

One of the best books I read in a long time. It hit close to home because I seen abuse before not to myself but someone I love with all my heart and soul my mother, she has so many scares from the time she was married to my father that I don't see how she survived but she did and I think it made her stronger today for it I cried along with Chloe in this story and some times I was so mad I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall because of her ex. But in the end Chloe proved to be a strong woman and I cried knowing now she dont have to be scared she can live...

Emotionally Moving

How can you call yourself a Parent treating your child the way they Did Kelly aka Chloe. This book was heartwrenching, informative(I never knew what goes though a Abuser mind). I love how you told the story of Chloe life though her words and her Journals. I cried when i stated the book when Jesse told her he would Kill her. My heart was hurting for her. A parents love knows no bounds. The way they took too her and the emotional journey she went though, I was truly happy she got her Happy ending. Kylie walker this was a moving and truly awesome story. 😘😘😘😘😘
