Rate this book
The Arrhythmias Tutorial, Part I program begins with a review ofcardiac electrophysiology and a discussion of how to approach arrhythmia diagnosis. It is aimed at the senior medical student and family practitioner or internist who feels the need for a review of this rapidly advancing topic. After a discussion of each major topic, review questions are presented. Using both images and text, the program teaches the genesis and propagation of the heart's electrical activities and how surface ECG reflects these activities. Arrhythmias Tutorial, Part I covers sinus node function and dysfunction, APCs, and all of the major supraventricular tachycardias: atrial fibrillation and flutter, multi focal atrial tachycardia and PSVT (paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia). The Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and its associated arrhythmias are discussed as is the use of digitalis, adenosine, beta blockers and calcium channel blockers to treat supraventricular tachycardias. Part I continues with a discussion of the carotid sinus reflex and its clinical significance, and reviews the appropriate use of carotid sinus pressure in arrhythmia management. Windows Compatible
