”I would go the end of the of the earth with ye. Wherever ye are, that is where i have to be.”
second book, double the amount of hair loss i experience while reading this action packed, wonderful story which is turning out to be an amazing summer read. hi! i’m back. let’s start by saying that this was an amazing continuation to the first book introducing a new pov, making the plot more complex and giving us a glimpse of the action which is starting to unfold. the historical aspect was present as well as how well read the author is. what i’m really appreciating is how explanatory they’re writing everything to be. what i’m also grateful for is the representation of a power couple like samantha and tristan who i can’t for the life of me understand how they are so healthy and emotionally mature when this book was written in the cursed with dumb toxic love triangles year of 2016. which brings me to the inevitable mark, the lover who is a little irrelevant and he should just shut up and pass the microphone to tristan but whatever i get it. i would fall for sammy as well. now, did i die reading about everything going from bad to absolutely worse? not so much. i didn’t sweat or get goosebumps but the fun i’m having while reading is something that i’ve really missed in reading. lastly, samantha needed a lot more screen time in a very particular emotional moment when i ached to read about her grief. it wasn’t fleshed out properly and that’s the reason i cut off a star. nonetheless, this series is really really capturing my attention and i’m loving every second of it.
I absolutely love the first book of this series, Swept Away, and hoped the next book in the series would hold up to which it absolutely did. I went into this book with some anxiety however, which only grew as it went on, because...
1) Mark (the swamp diver from Sam's old treasure hunting crew in 2015) was brought into the story. I turned to my husband and screamed "They only do this if it's going to be a love triangle, damn it!"
2) I'm afraid at any moment either Sam will fall for Mark, or Tristan will fall for Abella (their maid, ), or Tristan will die and it will spur a relationship between Sam and Mark. I'm shipping #Mabella.
3) OR, what if somehow at the end of this series Sam and Mark will have no choice but to return to their own time together once they've accomplished what the Gods wanted them to accomplish, and Sam will be separated from Tristan and she'll end up with Mark anyway?
4) OR, what if something happens in the story and I start favoring Mark over Tristan?! This is bad y'all, really bad. XD
I have obviously become extremely invested in these characters and their relationships. I thought it would bother me to read from Mark's pov, but surprisingly enough I like him (this is really, REALLY bad). I can already see a change formulating.
Kamery Solomon is a damn good writer because I don't think I've ever had a story tug on my heartstrings they way this one has. I know for certain I'm in for a broken heart at one point or another, change is inevitable right? The personal conflicts kept me hooked, and the conflicts with Randall take an interesting twist, especially once they find out his true intentions. Mythological content abounds!
If you loved the first book, definitely read this.
Great Book! This is a great book; this is the second book in The Swept Away Saga by Kamery Solomon. I could not wait to read this book, since I loved the first one so much. This book did not disappoint it is just as good if not better than the first book. Mark Bell has been running from Samantha’s ghost ever since she drowned in the Treasure Pit. When his path takes him to a historical site and shipwreck in Texas, he hopes the past will stay where it belongs. But that is not the case, the more he uncovers the wreckage he suspects that something is not right. Samantha (Sam) O’Rourke has been time traveling the past ever since she fell into the Treasure Pit. She is now trying to adjust to the social pyramid of the French Court and the secret society her husband, Tristan defends. If you are looking for a wonderful series then you need to read this one, this series has it all romance, mystery, and suspense. I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out.
This series just keeps getting better and better! I just need more and more of Samantha and Tristan. We also get to see what happened to the friends Sam left behind when she traveled back in time by focusing on Mark and the adventures that befall him. I very quickly picked up book 3 after finishing this one and I am so excited to read even more about this power couple!
I've watched the TV series on the History Channel about Oak Island and the supposed lost Knights Templar treasure. I became interested in this series after reading book 1, Swept Away. This is the second book in the series and was fun to read. What a wild adventure. Having Mark find Samantha after traveling to the past seemed so far fetched but I went on with the book. I'll try book 3 next and see where Sam, Tristan and Mark all end up.
Just as good, if not better, than the first book. There was a scene in it that was kinda hard to deal with but I felt like I grew to love Sam and Tristan even more because of their struggle and their love through it. This is such a great series and I can not recommend it enough!
I've been curious about what happens after Sam's disappearance in modern times, and I get to read the update from this book, plus a bonus where Kamery throws another character into the rank with Sam. The new addition excites me, but it also tortures me, for it takes a while before the two finally meet.
The plotlines in this story never cease to amaze me. There is never a dull moment in Sam's adventures, albeit, for Sam and Tristan, some of it is a painful experience. In this book, the POVs alternate between the two time-travellers, and another likeable side character is added - Abella. The ending tho, the prospect that the enemy is getting stronger, terrifies me!
This started out better than book 1 but then the originality slipped a little as nuances of Outlander poked through. It did recover from that stumble as the story moved along. So now I'm looking forward to book 3.
The adventure continues! Sam and Tristan get to visit the Grand Master and dance at the French king's ball. But then come kidnapping, an amazing surprise from the past, joy and sadness, and a chase across the ocean to stop another treasure from being "liberated". Wonderful storytelling.
Pirates, mythology and time travelers! Just finished and I am buzzing with excitement from the cliffhanger. Must read Swept Away to understand Samantha's story. Her friend, Mark Bell, was sent back through time when he asks questions about a sunken ship. The story is intricately woven with Sam's story, bits from the past, and Mark's knowledge of Randall. Time traveling stories usually have me questioning everything but Solomon does a beautiful job of keeping the facts straight and the story riveting. Sam is a badass pirate and a beautiful lady, when necessary. Tristan is a gorgeous price with a sexy Irish tongue. Mark is strong and rugged, the perfect protector. Fabulous characters and an exciting story with detailed fight scenes and historical info makes this one of my favorites, can't wait for the next book. My copy was given for my honest review.
Carried Away is the exciting Book 2 in the Swept Away Saga. Sam and Tristan are back again to thrill us with their exploits. And, of course, you can't forget Thomas Randall, the villainous pirate you love to hate. Hidden treasures, love, adventure, traveling back in time, ...what more could you want! With another historical treasure on the horizon you are not disappointed with the richly woven story Kamery Solomon has created! Kamery's writing style is so descriptive and the pictures she creates with words are so rich you can't help seeing the 'movie' in your mind. You will not want to miss this exciting adventurous saga!
I love this story so frickin much! I would live in this book if I could! Better then Harry Potter and thats saying something for this potterhead! If you think that books can't get any better then that last book you read, or that you won't want a different book boyfriend than that guy in that last book; I have something to tell you. YOU ARE WRONG!! This MUST be the book you are reading NOW!!!
This story picks up a little after where the first left off. The pirates are still going at it and the 'real world' is still mourning the death of Sam (don't worry she didn't really die remember). You will just have to read and find out what happens.
Kamery Solomon has blossomed so much since her first book. The research and detail she has put into this series is just incredible. You can tell that she loves what she does. If you have not read Kamery before, you need to get Swept Away and Carried Away. You will be swept up in this series, the characters, the story, it will grab your attention and take you on an amazing adventure.
The only thing I'm disappointed about is that the next book isn't out yet! I think this book was just as good if not better. I love Sam and Tristan, can't wait to see more of Mark and Abella and hope that older characters, like Father Torres, eventually resurface. I've become attached to these guys! Anxiously awaiting for book three...
Very intense, all the elements of a awesome book. It kept me enthralled throughout. I wish the third one was out I'd get right now. I recommend both books to my friends and family. She is such a good author. Her next one comes out in March 2017 she has another book out as well in the time frame. Called Taken Away.
I love this series soooo much and I cannot wait for the next one! They are so great because the happy ending is never really guaranteed, there is still suspense and I love that in my books. Amazing read!!
What an amazing follow up to her first in the series. I loved it and am salivating for more. Solomon is my new favorite author for a while. These are the first two books that I've read from her but I will put some more of her books on my to read list for sure.
This was a crazy adventure. I loved how the story continues for Samantha and Tristan. I've greatly missed them. In this book we also get another POV from Mark. Was a an amazing story to read but I know there will be more to it in the future.
I would have enjoyed the book more, unfortunately there were pages missing throughout this book. Other than that I did enjoy and look forward to the nee instalment.
I would have given this 4 stars but the beginning put me off lots making me drag my feet reading. Good thing I didn’t give up though as plot twists abounded. Great characters and a unique plot.
Time travel, more pirates, more treasure, and new friends sprinkled with some romance because why not. If you like those things, then check out this awesome series.
