Kathy Clark has always been a storyteller. She completed her first novel when she was four years old and self-published it the same year. The Little Black Horse That Ran Away was self-illustrated and sold out of its first printing. Thanks Mom!

Since then, a total of twenty-three novels published by Dell, Crown, and Harlequin happened. With her husband Bob Wernly as a co-writer, they published (both traditionally and epub) an additional fourteen novels.

Nine of these fourteen books were self-published in the romantic suspense, young adult and erotic romance genres. The remaining five published by Random House LLC as the Denver Heroes and Austin Heroes, released in 2015 and throughout 2016.

The author team are currently developing a new contemporary romance series (with a suspense backdrop) titled Breathless. High altitude, high stakes, and high romance, the series will begin in 2017 with the first book, Fools Gold . The series is set in Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Their young adult genre series, Time Shifters, is a time travel romance-mystery series. The fifth book in the award winning series, Not My Life releases 10.18.16.

Finally, their new adult romantic suspense series, Scandals, currently has the first three books released.

With two people developing ideas, plotting, researching, writing and editing, Kathy and Bob are both busy and productive. To be perfectly honest, Kathy and Bob would rather be riding horses, sitting on a sandy beach, watching movies or plays, and playing a round of golf every few days. But the voices in their heads insist on coming out, so they keep writing.

Kathy Clark’s third book in her Austin Heroes trilogy, ANOTHER CHANCE, was not only an exciting and heartfelt addition to the series, but completely blew me away!

Another Chance has lovers reunited and not just the hero and heroine, a believable and chilling suspense scenario and everything all tied up with a satisfying HEA. This book can be read as a standalone because Ms. Clark deftly introduces just enough backstory so as to not completely confuse the reader.

Luke Archer, the youngest of the three Archer brothers, works in D.C. for Homeland Security. A desk jockey who pours through intel every day to keep our southern borders safe. He has been assigned to a case in the field since it is a threat that is happening right in his hometown. Terrorists are crossing the border into Texas with other illegal aliens as cover through the ranch of Luke’s ex-high school girlfriend, Bella and a deadly plot is in the works.

Bella Shaw has never gotten over the young love of her life who she believes dumped her, but has grown into an accomplished attorney who fights for all underdogs and has risen to be a Texas state senator. When Luke reappears after 14 years, all the old feelings return as they have to work together on Bella’s ranch to discover and eliminate the terrorist threat.

The suspense in this book was realistic and could have been ripped right from today’s news. The romance was written beautifully and at times was heartbreaking when you learn of the deceit that tore them apart. Grammy’s backstory of fame and love found and then lost also ripped into my heart. This author knows how to write about love, forgiveness and second chances.

Thank you very much to Random House Publishing Group-Loveswept and Net Galley for allowing me to read an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. It was excellent!

The romance between Luke and Bella had a lot of potential. A second chance romance can be a lot of fun and tends to be one of my favorite tropes in the romance world. And, they had great chemistry.

The writing and the dialog were also well done, as was the pacing, for the most part. There were places where the narrative did slow in order to focus on the preaching of politics, but the rest of the novel moved well overall. The characters were mostly likable, although I will admit that I would not want to spend time with Luke after getting to know his politics. And, full disclosure, I am on the other side of his comments...but, this isn't really why I had an issue with it...as I was also annoyed when Bella gave her opinion on the situation. if I want to engage in a debate about politics, I don't need the book I am reading to make this happen.

While this is part of a series, it is not necessary to have read the other novels in the series to be able to follow the action. I read the first in the series, I did not read the 2nd, and read this one.

So, why 1 star? The obvious political statement the author was making with the illegal immigration subplot. I read to escape, to enjoy a little break from reality and the issues the world is facing. I get it, characters don't exist in a bubble...and, as a Department of Homeland Security employee, I am guessing Luke had some opinions about the issue, but I didn't need a speech. On more than one occasion. I felt like I was reading a thinly veiled political ad...with a little romance tossed in.

Yes, bring what you know. But don't preach to the reader. should not feel that I know the political beliefs of the author when I finish the novel...and, in this instance, it was like she tried to balance it with the other side, by having Bella take the opposite side of the fence than Luke. The problem, his opinions got multiple speeches. Bella, one scene.

I am not able to recommend this book mainly because the obvious attempt at a political message doesn't belong in romantic fiction.

Not having read the first two books in the Austin Heroes series, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about coming in at the end of the series with this story. Sometimes it's difficult to try to catchup with the storylines and past characters, but this author did a remarkable job with the backstory and keeping the characters alive through their appearances here.

Luke comes from a family of Alpha males all in law enforcement, all with alarmingly fun senses of humor...there were several laugh out loud moments...what do you do when your marijuana smoking grandmother lights up in front of a drug detection K9 whose partnered with a DEA agent...one of the grandsons...the poor animal was definitely confused.

Luke shows that you can go home again, even after fourteen years away, he came back to a love once lost, but now reawakened. Bella and Luke's quick wit and hilarious banter was enthralling. They definitely were perfect for each other...the author's descriptive writing...especially during the high schools years...clearly brought out the emotion in the love lost between Luke and Bella. There was plenty of angst filled moments of young love, first for Gammy and Paul (the judge) in the 60's during the Summer of Love in San Francisco, the second for Luke and Bella, during their high school years, but tied together through the judge, Bella's father, ran parallel to each other through parental interference, well meaning, though misguided.

There was plenty of suspense because of the terrorist premise of the story, but at the same time there were several heart tearing twists and turns that drove the romantic aspect. The story flowed seamlessly from beginning to end...grabbing your emotions from the first page. The emotional investment created by the characters will stay with me long after I finished the last page. I'm glad I was introduced to the Archer family, even if it was late in the game.

I’d like to thank Kathy Clark, Loveswept, and Penguin Random House for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story. The suspense subplot was intriguing—and somewhat unsettling, because it’s completely plausible and I’d never thought about it before—and wove well into the larger picture, that of Luke and Bella’s rekindled love. I had a tiny bit of trouble with that main romance plot, because they seemed to get back together so easily, when they knew very little about the adults they had become over the last fourteen years. That’s a long time; there had to be more to discuss. Luke and Bella seemed to just reminisce about high school then got busy the moment they were alone and pretty much picked right up where they’d left off. They each harbored a little uncertainty as to what they’d (re)started—was it temporary, was it simply finding closure for the past—but for the most part, they just clicked together and didn’t seem to have much conflict between them, not even that of wading through fourteen years of life experience.

The pace was steady, but—this will seem like a contradiction, but it’s not—some of the scenes dragged, such as the dinner party scene toward the beginning. There wasn’t really anything wrong with it, but it seemed to lack energy, lacked that enigmatic element to keep me riveted. It took me several days to read this book because I kept needing to walk away and move around or else I’d fall asleep.

Everyone was at least likable, if not lovable, even the presumptuous Ed and the faithless judge. I didn’t like the judge at first, but I warmed to him when he was able to humbly admit his mistake and ask for forgiveness. His and Grammy’s involvement was a bit convenient and really took away the drama from the revelation that he’d separated Luke and Bella on purpose. They didn’t have much of a chance to have it out with him. There were a few minutes of awkwardness and resentment, sure, but Bella got over his meddling fast, and Luke folded without much effort, too.

I can’t decide if that lone chapter from Grammy’s point of view was necessary or not. I want to say it wasn’t; I felt the history between the judge and Grammy the moment they saw each other backstage. I think I’d have bought it if I just heard one of them mention their summer together fifty years ago. Although nothing could make it seem like more than a convenient olive branch between the judge and Luke and Bella.

Luke and Bella were cute. I’m not sure they seemed unique or memorable in any way, pretty standard hero and heroine, but I cared about them and wanted to see them end up together. As for the other characters, namely Luke’s brothers Nick and Justin and their girlfriends and children—and Harley!—I was always excited to see them enter the scene. As soon as they were mentioned, though, I thought, This book must be part of a series. Which was fine…until Luke and Bella were talking and he pretty much pitched the premises of those other two books. Subtlety went out the window, and I didn’t care to be beaten over the head with not-so-subliminal advertising.

My biggest complaint was the one thing that was light-years more convenient than the judge and Grammy. The medical chopper toward the end. I have a very, very hard time believing that a hospital would just let some guy, government agent or no, use their chopper as a taxi cab, especially when it wasn’t even used to transport the wounded. Assuming it would actually be possible to get a lift from a medical chopper, there has to be rules and paperwork and all sorts of red tape to go through first, and fact-checking takes time. Even if it was available for emergencies, would they have taken Luke’s word for its necessity? I just can’t swallow it. It seemed like a cool scene out of an action movie when you thought all hope was lost for the damsel in distress—but wait—here comes the hero in a chopper to save the day! Fun to watch, but audience members would be chuckling derisively about it on the way home from the theatre.

Overall, a heart-warming read that will leave you smiling despite its flaws.

Another Chance is the third and final book in Kathy Clark’s Austin Heroes series which centers around three brothers in law enforcement and their pot-smoking grandma. The family is based in Austin, Texas and there is a common theme where each brother finds love while he is in the middle of an investigation. Another Chance has an interesting storyline because it actually does a great job of wrapping the series up in a nice bow and gives us some background about grandma that I wasn’t expecting but very much appreciated.

The hero in this story is Homeland Security agent Luke Archer. Although he is based in Washington, DC, he ends up back home in Austin as he is tracking a terrorist cell that likely crossed the Texas/Mexico border in order to get into the United States. As if that wasn’t complicated enough, he runs into his high school sweetheart, Isabella “Bella” Shaw. They were supposed to have had a fairytale life but something happened that prevented that. The problem is that there is a little confusion as to what exactly that was. Luke and Bella are clearly still attracted to each other so the fun is just beginning. As they work things out, they have no trouble showing how compatible they still are in the bedroom. The real problems arise as they begin to unravel the mystery of their breakup because it ends up involving important people from both of their families. I can’t reveal any more than that because it’s an essential part of this storyline. Luckily, the action doesn’t stop there. Both Luke and Bella end up knee deep in trying to stop a terrorist attack at a popular Austin venue.

I really enjoyed Another Chance. As with the other two books, there is a lot that is taught about love, loss, family, and forgiveness. Kathy Clark does a good job of making everything seem realistic and not forced. I liked how Bella and Luke find their way back to each other as well as the injection of another love story that you will have to read to understand. I just may have to read some other books in Kathy Clark’s catalog.

ARC REVIEW

Another Chance is book three in Kathy Clark's Austin Heroes series, it is sadly the conclusion to the series as well. The youngest Archer brother gets his second chance at love with his high school sweetheart and they are not the only ones who get another chance but a surprise reunion happens also. Luke Archer and Bella Shaw happened pretty quickly but it was like they picked up where they left off as soon as they realized what had happened all those years ago. There is no problem with their relationship only the fact that technically Luke lives in DC and Bella is a prominent lawyer and a Texas State Senator and that possibility that ISIS terrorist are coming over the Texas border and using Bella's ranch as an waypoint before getting into Austin. Said terrorists are planning an attack and Luke has come back home as part of the task force in charge of finding them and stopping them.

As with each of the books this can be read as a standalone, but the other books are so well done and together you get more of the family history and background and it really is more fun to know the story behind the dog who is addicted strawberries. The story has a great romance and a great plot, plenty of action, in the bedroom and out. Overall, this was a very exciting and romantic and I hate to see the end of this series but look forward to what may come.

I so enjoyed this book and finally getting to know Luke. He is the youngest Archer brother and an analyst at Department of Homeland Security. He has big shoes to fill with his older brothers Justin, a Texas Ranger, and Nick, a decorated DEA agent, but he holds his own in this third installment of the series. He is back in Austin and hunting terrorists who are coming over the border with illegal aliens from Mexico. He runs into Bella Shaw, his high school love, and the chemistry is still burning bright even after so many years and misunderstanding that broke them up. We also get a glimpse into Grammy's past and find out more about her and she gets an HEA too! There are lots of twists and turns and sexy, hot, makeup time. This story could be pulled right of the headlines of today and the added romance was beautifully told.

This book is the third in the series but definitely could be read as a standalone without missing anything. I highly recommend this book along with the first two books in this series.

Smoking hot, extremely satisfying, and highly entertaining!

This is the third book in the Austin Heroes series, and once again Kathy Clark doesn’t disappoint. In this latest novel, we have a good mix of second-chance romance, mystery, danger, steamy chemistry, and witty banter.

The writing is clear and fluent. The characters are scrumptious, intelligent, intriguing, and humorous. And the plot is suspenseful, engaging, captivating, and definitely amusing from start to finish.

What more can I say. This is a fun, easy read, and if you love romantic suspense this is an indulgence that shouldn’t be missed.

Third story of Austin Heroes. Luke Archer, a homeland security agent in DC. Since his home town is in Austin area, he was assigned to a case near his home town. Now he is back in Austin tryin got solve border problem with terrorist connection. He was back in Austin for short amount of time and he sees his first love Bella Shaw. They were madly in love in high school and decided to go to same school in Florida but Bella’s mom got sick and she had to stay behind.. Until she received a letter from Luke...
Bella can never forget her first love Luke, he was her first for everything. He broke her heart when he didn’t even say good bye.. Now a successful lawyer and a senator in Austin. When she sees Luke after close to decade, she wanted to find out what happen to them back then so she could have her closure.
Both were drawn to each other but they need to understand what happen to them back then. When they find out they were separated by someone else. Now Luke thinks they will have another chance at their forever. Not as easy as it seems, they are both successful at their job but they will be apart if this case is closed. But they decided to enjoy every moment with each other until that day comes.
This has an interesting back story of his quirky grandmother and her love of her life. Grammy lost love her life when someone else meddle with her life as well.. She suffered many years of heartache and loneliness. It does give more story to what really happen to Bella and Luke.

It does have some immigration issue (which is hot topic now). I wouldn’t read too much into it. I did not agree to everything for both sides (I just have to remember this is fiction and genre is Romance) but I read more into Bella and Luke’s relationship instead of focusing on the issues.
Archer family had interesting dynamics and it was fun to read all of the books. All the brothers found their HEA and it was good enough for me.

This is Book 3 in the "An Austin Heroes Novel" Series and I really enjoyed it! Luke is the youngest Archer brother and he works as an analyst for the Department of Homeland Security. He now works in DC, away from his family. Now he is back in Austin, hunting down a group of terrorists who are trying to attack a huge target. He runs into Bella Shaw, his sweetheart and only real love. The chemistry between them is stronger than ever and they both are great characters.

Second characters add to a wonderful romance which I highly enjoyed!

Love-filled romantic suspense…

I admit it. The Archer brothers weaved their magic so it was bittersweet to open this third, and last, in the trilogy. This was different than the others, they’ve all stood alone in the storylines, however the love and mystery, the suspense, was back….

Luke and Bella had history and it was fun to watch them fall in love again as more mature adults. Their memories were sweet but they were making new ones, in the shadow of a terrorist threat. It was no holds barred on both fronts which made for an exciting and emotion-filled read…
The author hinted there may be more Austin Heroes – I look forward to it!

I'm sorry, but this one didn't sit well with me. It seemed far fetched and not well researched. I just couldn't connect with the plot. Maybe I'm way way off base but it seemed like ideas were drawn from headlines and then expounded on but without any real substance. The characters were not very likeable and I didn't get a connection between them. There were a few moments where I thought oh" good, here we go." But they were to few and far between for me to say I loved the book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the second chance at romance aspect, and I liked the suspense with the whole terrorists on the loose thing. The connection between Luke and Bella didn’t quite draw me in, but it was sweet. She was trying to act so unaffected by him, so maybe that’s why the connection felt off. It does get better as the story goes on and they do have some heat between them. Just wanted a bit more depth. There was too much filler; especially the political stuff, which just slowed the story down for me. Enjoyed the action parts though. Overall, an entertaining story.

Luke returns to his hometown to stop ISIS from infiltrating the US through the Texas border. When one of his operations goes bad, he runs into his high school sweetheart, Bella. They are immediately drawn to one another, but are both hurting from the way things ended in the past. I really liked that there was a good plot along with the romance between the two characters. It also brings characters back from the previous books in the series, but can be enjoyed on its own.

Luke and Bella were HS sweethearts both received the same Dear John/Jane letter right when they were leaving for college. Now, years later they see each other again and the air is cleared, someone else wrote those letters. This is a second chance love story, with a subplot regarding illegal immigration.

Another Archer man falls for the girl. Luke and Bella’s story was about reuniting with a first love. And, as it turns out, Grammy did the same. After parental interference tore them apart, both couples found each other again.

Luke Archer is the youngest of the brothers, and I have highly anticipated reading his story in this exciting series.
And the heat was high between Luke and Bella. The high school lovers reunited were on fire, their chemistry was great, and the connection immediate even after all the years they had been apart. There was a third party, Ed, that was in the picture at the beginning, but then suddenly he wasn't an issue. I would have liked to see that resolved before Luke and Bella moved forward.
I loved how Granny got some screen time as well and we got to know more about her past and the wild days of her youth.
The suspense was intense, the topic popular and very much part of today's politics. And that's where the story fell for me, the political opinions that were repeated several times. They had a debate on the matter and constantly brought the immigration issues up and it felt unnecessary. It didn't add to the plot, yet took away much from the enjoyment of the story. Everyone reading the book knows that a homeland security officer will enforce the law, his personal opinions and mostly how he came forward with his opinion was unattractive. How he talked about the people crossing the border not being humans would have made me walk away from him and fast. Also, there were some statements of green card holders that I would like to fact check. Immigration is a sensitive subject matter in today's world and in my opinion the author took a risk to bring it up as it was. But when it was assumed that "the whole world was watching" when Texas college American football was on national television in the USA, I realized that 'the world' where the characters were operating in was rather limited and small.
The romance between Bella and Luke was enticing and sexy. I liked how the past didn't bring too much angst into their relationship. I also appreciated that Judge humbled himself and apologized for his actions in the past. It was a great, happy ending for the family and the series. Towards the end of the book, it was more about action instead of building up the case, and that made the pages fly and bring intensity and interest into the tale.
I really wish the author didn't have the need to bring their political opinions into their work so dominantly, taking away so much of the enjoyment of the tale.

I love this kind of book. The kind where a couple get a second chance after years apart. Both Luke and Bella ended up with really great careers. Neither of them followed their childhood dreams. Years later they run into each other, only to find that the spark never faded. The sex scenes were pretty steamy. While the main focus is on Luke and Bella, Luke's brothers and their women plus another couple (sorry I didn't want to ruin the surprise) are all front and center too.
BTW I want to be just like Grammy when I grow up. She plays a second character role in each of the Austin Heroes books, but she really brings a lot of excitement to each story.

I haven't read the previous books in this series by Kathy Clark, but will do so after reading this one.
This is Luke and Bella's story. Luke is the baby in the family of 4, his brothers all alpha males are in law enforcement in form or another. The boys parents died when they were young and they were raised by "grammy" I loved her. Grammy is the 70 year old flower child who still smokes a little weed for medicinal purposes and loves all 4 of her boys.
Luke and Bella have history. Friends since elementary school, blossomed into love in high school and they made plans for the future. A future that never comes to pass and each assuming the worst about each other they haven't seen or spoken to each other in 14 years. Luke now works for Homeland Security in DC, Bella is a successful attorney and a Senator, living in Austin where they book takes place. Luke is there because his job brought him there and Bella still owns the family ranch which abuts the Mexican border. Along with illegals, they have noticed an increase in middle eastern illegals and have very good reason to believe they are part of a terrorist cell. Bella and Luke run into each other by accident initially after a warehouse raid occurs near her home and he's guarding the perimeter. But he knows he's going to have to talk to her because he wants to set up surveillance cameras on the ranch. These two hedge around each other initially until they finally talk about what happened between them and whose hand played the role in keeping them apart.
The story takes off as they try to track down these men, add to that the relationship unfolding between Bella and Luke.
What a great story this is. I liked the plot, I loved both MC's. They were two people you could relate to. Two people who were duped, and despite their anger didn't let it interfere with their relationship.
His brothers and Grammy added a lot to the story and a wonderful story and revelation about Grammy and her past comes to light.
This book is a must read, I'm adding Ms Clark to my reading list!!

A fantastic action packed, romantic suspense that is a must read! With it's unique storyline, interesting characters that you can't help but love, an unexpected second chance romance, intense situations, and intriguing surprise twists, this story will capture you, and not let go till the end. An excellent ending to this great series!

I fell in love with the Archer brothers and their Grammy right from the start. Each of the brothers are in different branches of law enforcement, they have a strong bond between them and with their Grammy, their hilarious banter will have you cracking up laughing, they're all loyal to a fault, and each has a huge heart when it comes to those they care about.

Luke is the youngest of the brothers, has always felt like he had to excel at everything to keep up with his brothers, but never understood that he was a hero in his own way. When he meets up with his high school sweetheart, and the girl who broke his heart, he never expected to have the same strong feelings for her like before. Bella was unprepared for seeing Luke again after all these years, and after the heartbreaking way he left her. She tries to keep her distance from him, but true love has a way of never dying. Will they be able to find out the truth of what happened before? Will either of them get the HEA they should have had long ago?

This was a great series that I highly recommend. If you haven't read it, I suggest that you start from the beginning. You'll get to read amazing stories, learn about each couple, and get a few surprises along the way. You won't be disappointed!

I received an arc from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest and unbiased review.

Nothing particularly memorable about this story - the drama and suspense were fairly predictable, the romance had very little bumps in the road.

Sometimes you can go home again as proven in Another Chance by Kathy Clark. Some young loves are forgotten but not in the case of Luke and Bella. They were supposed to have a lifetime together but sometimes people get in the way of those plans.

Luke is a Homeland Security agent that makes his way home to break up a terrorist organization. This hits home for him because the terrorists are going across his high school sweetheart's family ranch. He is forced to come face to face with the only woman he ever really loved.

Bella has made a name for herself. She has reached the potential that her father wanted her to reach. She is a lawyer and a senator. But after seeing Luke again she longs for something else now. The only thing she wants to be careful of is her heart breaking again.

Another Chance was a good contemporary romance. The romance between Luke and Bella was hot, steamy and sweet. They definitely had great chemistry. Their love story did have a twist in it that I didn't expect and that made this story fun for me.

I really enjoyed Luke's family. His grandmother was everything you expected her to be, but her story had a little twist in it as well. His brothers, Nick and Justin, added the humour that makes them fun to read about. Bella's father took a little more getting used to in order to like him. He has his ways and he loves his daughter.

Another Chance is about two people that were always meant to be together but had lost their way.

Another Chance
5 stars

Luke Archer works in D.C. for Homeland Security. Normally his job doesn’t take him out in the field but when he discovers that one of the newest terrorist risks are more than likely coming from the Southern borders right through his hometown disguised as illegal aliens he temporarily moves from his desk job out into the field. His very first intel he damn near loses his life but it also brings back in touch to his high school girlfriend. The only girl that he has ever loved, the very one that broke his heart.

Bella Shaw is not only an accomplished defense attorney that fights for the underdog but she’s also a Texas state senator. Her first meeting with Luke proves to her that she never got over Luke because ever dirty and beat up, he can still make her feel things that she has never felt with any other man. Fourteen years ago he broke her heart, can she forgive him and will he do It again?

This is a story about forgiveness and second chances packed with suspense and a few thrills. Sadly since Luke is the youngest and last of the Archer brothers, it’s also the end of series. I will miss these boys or rather men but even more than that, I will miss Grammy. She is always good for a laugh with her pot smoking, gun shooting, hippy loving ways, I absolutely loved her. This book, along with others from the series can each be read as a stand-alone but the whole series is fantastic. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Clark comes up with next. 4 1/2 Stars! Although I didn't read the first 2 books in the series, I had no trouble catching up because the author does a wonderful job of letting you know the back story. But in this book ... Luke and Bella have been friends since he beat up the boy that knocked Bella down in elementary school. During high school their friendship turned romantic. But when Luke went away to college, Bella stayed home to help with her dying mother and attend a college near by ... she never heard from Luke again. 14 years later, he's back home on a terrorist case for Homeland Security and they accidentally run into other. Even though Bella is an attorney and a state senator, she's still a country girl at heart and that heart has always belonged to Luke. And Luke cannot get Bella out of this head or his heart since running no into her. This story is full of romance and there is lots of action with twists and turns. But I almost fell off my chair laughing at Luke's pot smoking Grammy! I really liked how the author gave a little back story to when the grandmother was young. I enjoyed this book so much that now I have to go read the first 2 books in the series.

Another Chance (An Austin Heroes Novel) by Kathy Clark is a thrilling action packed second chance romance full of suspense and danger. The danger and intrigue in this addition to a fabulous series could have been taken off last night’s news program. This added to the nail biting suspense of the plot.

The main characters, Luke and Bella have a history since childhood but parted ways fourteen years ago. Instead of the future planned, Luke and Bella were torn apart by misconceptions born out of deceit. You can’t help but want to help them learn the truth and then survive to have live out the future together. However, they are not the only ones who have loved and lost. All of this is in addition to the deadly plot happening. As you can see there is just so much going on in this plot but it all ties together in the end.

Besides the strong, independent and determined Luke and Bella, his brothers and Granny make memorable appearances. That is not to say that you need to have read the first two books to enjoy Another Chance. There is enough background given to keep things clear but it does not become repetitive. Honestly, this entire series is worth your reading time, so read them all; After Love and Almost Forever, too.

The third book in the series. This one is about the youngest brother Luke Archer the Homeland Security agent. He is back in Austin on a case and after a few weeks he happens to run into his love of his life, Bella Shaw. It has been a long fourteen years apart and each has questions as to why the other one broke it off. When they find out the truth they decide to pick up where they left off and not worry about the future if there can be one until his case is over. Along the way the brothers are planning a wedding from the last book, and you find out about the past of Grammy and her life in the music business before the grand boys. What ends up being a twist is that Bella’s father and Grammy have a past and it is reveled, and a must say as someone who has read all three books it was and was not a surprise. At least the person. Sad that this is the last book for I really enjoyed all of the books and wanted at least one more store to see if Hurley ever made it past the strawberries, you have to read the books to find out. A very good book and a good series. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Once again this author entertains her readers with very engaging characters: a sexy Homeland Security Agent, two hotshot law enforcement brothers, a pot smoking Grandma (don't read about that every day), a mature judge, and a very attractive attorney. This story has more action scenes than I would prefer, as I think they out-number the"steaming" ones.
The main plot is one read in numerous romance books: High School Sweetheart reunite as adults, after going their separate ways in college. Though, the readers are treated to an expected backstory with Grandma as the Heroine!
I have to say, the sub-plot involving the terrorist plan described in this book is down right scary, a real nightmare. I can only pray the real Homeland Security Agents, FBI, CIA and all of law enforcement in this nation are on top of their game and stop every potential threat.
There is a downside to this book, as a critical scene near the end turned me off and actually lowered my rating of this book. I just don't understand why authors have to make a civilian (with no military or police training) take on an unrealistic role to save the day. Rating 3.5

"Another Chance" is the third book in Kathy Clark's "Austin Heroes" series. The three books feature three brothers but it can still be comfortably read as a standalone.

I'm a big fan of Kathy Clark and really enjoyed both her Denver Heroes and Austin Heroes series. I liked this book but can't say I loved it. The pace was a bit slower than the others and it didn't feel like the suspense was as intense. I just didn't enjoy the political aspects of the story either. It was largely centered on the issues of border control. I prefer a little more of an escape when I read and it just wasn't what I was looking for.

That being said, I did enjoy Luke and Bella. I liked that there was no instalove going on as they had been close friends and high school sweethearts. The way they became separated was a bit over the top. I just can't see Luke not having fought harder regardless of the circumstances. I loved seeing them get their HEA however and am really looking forward to what is next from Kathy Clark.

This is a very enjoyable book! This is the third book in the Austin Heroes Series and Ms Clark hit it out of the park! This book about the youngest son Luke, a FBI Terrorist Profiler, and Bella an attorney. Luke works out of Washing D.C. but is brought over to Austin Texas in order to investigate terrorists that are crossing over the Mexican border via Bella's ranch. Luke and Bella grew up together in Texas, but once they graduated from high school Luke never came home.

I need to say that this book was hilarious! Not only did it have the suspense and drama of when the terrorist may pop up again, it also had loads of romance and comedy when the whole family gets together. It is a laugh out loud hoot! Luke's pot-smoking-brownie-eating Granny is once again highlighted in this novel and it was so enjoyable to read how the whole family interacts in this last novel.
You definitely need to read this book. It was a blast and I didn't want it to end.
