Kathy and her sister, Samantha, have always been a team. Throughout their time as witches, they've taken out more than their share of bad guys. But after Kathy meets Will, who she learns is a demonic Dark Knight, her loyalties begin to change.
Meanwhile, Samantha doesn't trust Will or his intentions. Still, Kathy can't help but feel tempted by the dark side as she falls deeper in love with Will. Crossing over would give Kathy the freedom to do whatever she wanted with her magic. No rules. No limitations. It would also mean breaking the bond she has always shared with her sister, who has made it clear that she wants nothing to do with the dark side.
When Will proposes they take over the underworld, Kathy loves the idea of having power. But it also leaves her with a choice that will change her life: abandon her family and the life she has always known, or give up the love of her life forever.

The Full Moon (Under the Moon #1) by David Neth is a great book on witches, family, demons, and loyalty. It has sisters, good witches, and one falls for a dark knight (yep, the other direction). Bad things happen that you will want to read, I am not going to spoil it for you! Exciting, intrigue, action, and loyalties tested on all sides. Enjoyed it tremendously!
This was an entertaining and interesting witch sisters story involving white and dark magic. Kathy and Samantha are witches with strong witch magic who fight evil beings. Their lives are never the same when Kathy meets Will, a dark knight who was born evil. Narrator Nathan Welland did a great job. This ends in a cliff hanger.
This is now officially the crappiest book I've ever read. It must have taken the writer all of two days to write this garbage and I'll never get back the hours of my life I spent reading this garbage.
It was interesting to see the interaction between the sisters. It was great enough book I have already started book 2. I got this audio book free from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
this book throughly annoyed me. the characters were barely like able and everything happened so fast without explanation. I already have the next two in the series and I doubt I will ever read them
This is the first work I've read/listen from this author, who kindly gifted me his story. My curiosity for Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Magical Romance :) led me to this very honest review. Bare with me. I haven't read that much Urban Fantasy but the setting appealed to me, an interesting premise. I was very curious. First, it was funny to listen to a male narrator tell a story through the perspective of a female lead character. The first chapters kept my attention, I liked the interaction in the book. The way the characters were described along with the story line, was satisfying and kept me engaged.
Although I had some questions...
How the hell the dumbest Witch learns the best spells? Lucky girl! Fantasy, right? Really! :) How was she not suspicious? Was it so easy to believe that Lawyer? So many warnings... (I'm shaking my head :) ...)
At the beginning Kathy had questions but after some blurry visions, powerful spells, adding her sad dull life to the mix, she gets completely deeply involved. Magic! I don't think she would last long with all those attacks without Will's help, spell, whatever that was, but very lucky Witch indeed!
I was very apprehensive with Will, something was wrong.
Another question... Freeze and tele(trans)porting would solve many issues if you remember you have powerful magic... they were struggling with money, Mind and Time magic would do the trick. Seemed a little childish at times but well, who doesn't want to be a kid again?
Then two sisters break their relationship because of a Dark Knight... bad boy, Will... Someone they don't know at all and sisters, Sisters! Know each other since they were born, same blood, lots of love, family? Besides they are Witches! Huh I didn't feel the warmth... maybe because they were magical and were hiding from the "normal"... but where was the emotion, the feelings?
By now it seems the story goes full speed, however I like the way the action and the different scenarios blend. Until everybody wants to kill everybody :) And no ones goes to work anymore :)
It was fun! I've enjoyed this read, I think it will keep evolving!
This is the story of a family of witches. One marries a 'Dark Knight' who is bad.She can no longer be a white witch. Will she kill her family members? It was VERY fast moving with an enormous amount of crap happening to the characters.I really disliked mostl of the characters in this book.Narration by Nathan Weiland was good, aside from Kathy, who was SO snarky I was hoping she'd die.I was given this book free for an honest review.
This was an OK book, but there was something missing to lead me to give it more than 3 stars. First of all, I didn't like any of the characters. I have a hard time enjoying a book if I don't care about what happens to the people. The main character, Kathy, was especially annoying. Her constant waffling and screaming and temper tantrums just made me dislike her intensely. When a book is a part of a series, I usually look forward to seeing what happens next. In this case, I really don't care.
The idea behind the book is pretty good, with a pair of sisters who are witches. Add in a handsome Dark Knight and some interesting supernatural creatures and you have a good premise. I just wish that at least one of the characters made me want them to succeed!
The narrator did a pretty good job, but I agree that I would have rather had a female voice since the story is mainly about the female MC. His female voices, especially when they were screaming and angry (which they were a lot of the time) were pretty annoying. I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version of this book by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.
Would you listen to The Full Moon again? Why? Yes because I just loved the story.
Who was your favorite character and why? I'm not really sure who because they are all so different.
Which character – as performed by Nathan Weiland – was your favorite? I didn't have 1 because they weren't easy to compare to each other because just like in real life everyone was different.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? No idea what a movie tagline is so...
Any additional comments? This story is unique to itself. I love the plot and how it's so different. The narrator does a great job, but I'm not really a fan of his Kathy voice (to me it's one of those voices that you make when you are imitating someone who is irritating you and you don't like them). Once I got past that though it was very enjoyable to listen to and kept me guessing as to what was going on the entire time.
I can’t take this anymore. I have NEVER DNFd a book before and I feel like I could possibly regret this later but maybe not. Ultimately I can’t get behind the instalove happening between Kathy and Will. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the two characters. It was like “oh he’s hot, I love him!” No lead up or anything. At least in a Disney princess fairytale, they have this beautiful moment of locking eyes across the room or something. That was not the case here.
I am disappointed because the concept of the book sounds incredible and I was really looking forward to reading this book. Witches and other nighttime mystical beings are my favorite. But this one just did not hit the mark for me.
Chock full of witches, demons, power plays, and betrayal. Took me a while to find the rhythm, lots of lethal action and leadership plotting going on in the small town magic story. I couldn't find much sympathy for the main character though, she was a bit too naive and submissive for my tastes, which made the main antagonist feel a bit overt and clumsy in implementing his nefarious plot. A solid start to the series.
Interesting enough. I really liked the start of this book but it kind of fell flat. Listened via gifted audio. Narration was ok, I didn’t actually mind the male’s narration of the female leads.
I 100% did not buy into the love interest portion of this book, and what happens to secondary characters because of this sucks.
I’m guessing there will be future books on the boys etc. I have also been gifted these I’ll attempt them in the future.
I enjoyed this story. Witches isn't something I read often enough and this book reminded that I should. The way it was written, had me swimming in the story with the characters. I even teared up near the end.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
Was a good book. Can't wait to see what is in store for Kathy and Will in the next book. Was sorry to see that she gave up her powers in order to get away from him.
The Full Moon is the first book in the Under the Moon series. Samantha and Kathy are sisters, withes, and always have been a teamed to fight bad magical people. Samantha is always angry since her husband has walked out of her and her two sons' life. Her angry spills into Kathy's life.
Kathy has never had a real job. She went on an interview and her interviewer made a sexual proposition in exchange to hire her. After walking out on her interview, she bumped into Will, who lend her his ears of how awful her interview went.
Will, who is an attorney, seemed like a decent guy. After he saved Kathy from an attack, he told her he is a Dark Knight, who used to work for one of Samantha and Kathy's enemies. From there, Samantha ordered Kathy to stopped seeing Will because of what he is.
This drove a wedge between sisters. One is ordering instead of listening and the other is feeling alone and turned to Will who is willing to support her decisions no matter what. This definitely the best reason to turn to the dark side.
I do feel sorry for Will when he said that he was born evil. I don't think Will is totally evil. He just wanted power to fill a vacuum of being king of the underworld. The story is one-sided where good could turn evil and still can find salvation, whereas, evil cannot ever turn good.
Great story for twelve to fifteen years old where it is a good divides of good vs. evil with no gray areas.
The narrator, Nathan Weiland has a great voice for Will. The narrator provided Samantha a voice that show how angry and bitter that she is and Kathy a voice where she wants to remain neutral instead of choosing between family and love.
I was given this audiobook by the author and volunteered to write an honest review for the book. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.
This review is from both the audiobook and reading parts of the kindle book. Wow, this was nothing like I thought it would be. I looked at the cover and thought it would be just another paranormal romance book. Boy was I ever wrong. First off, I want to say, I think the narrator did a good job. The way he did Kathy's voice cracked me up. It was like nails being scraped down a chalk board. lol. There is a romance story to this but, unlike most paranormal romance these days, this was eerie. And scary! at one time, when there was a scary scene, I couldn't help but also cracked up because of what he called the demon in the scene. he had a sword for an arm so he was referred to as Sword Arm. I think that's what it was. Any way, you will love this. I can't wait to listen to the next one. I was feeling sorry for Will by the end of this one. I do have to say that Samantha was a pain in the butt! I know she had a motherly role to Kathy but come on, they're grown now! No wonder Kathy took off with Will. I would too. She was so controlled by Samantha so I think she had a connection with Will because he was also controlling. I was wanting Samantha to die at times. But Kathy was also annoying some. And after what happened to Samantha, I felt bad. Can't spoil it. Sorry. I kind of liked Will in a bad boy kind of way. I think he believes there's no hope because he was born evil but I know he really loves Kathy. I'm not sure how it will work with them now. This was brilliant, David!
Blind women and their evil lovers. That basically tells this story. Kathy, a beautiful witch meets bad boy, literally, Will. Will is a Dark Knight and is a demon protector. Kathy fights evil magic. Kathy think she loves Will but her sister sees it as it really is. Will Kathy believe the worse about Will or will she believe that it really is love. I did enjoy this story but as it is in real life, it's hard to read a story about an intelligent woman being taken in by a man with evil on his mind. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed the idea of this story so much, I had to buy the rest of the series. :)
Similar to its predecessor (but its sequel in the series) "The Full Moon" is written in the same tone but with more depth to create a fuller story. Many times the author did not trust his audience to infer anything. Once I worked past that as a reader, I thoroughly enjoyed the exposition that was missing from "The Blood Moon." I suggest reading this before "The Blood Moon," but both are worth reading to delve into a fantasy world reminiscent of "Charmed."
Professional: This book improved on "The Blood Moon" in terms of adding in more exposition to support the dialogue, creating rounder characters and working on a balance of dialogue with action. Some character's actions are unbelievable, such as when characters were angry but forgot their anger completely to talk to those they were angry with, or when chivalry suddenly became important to Will after non-chivalrous actions. Unfortunately, in many instance the author did not trust his readers to understand what certain actions or situations meant. For example, a character would do something, and then their action would be explained, where the reasoning behind the action was inferred. This gave the text a somewhat childish feel rather than a young adult feel, and this is my biggest complaint with the book. A continuity exists error in the brother's ages.
Personal: I have a deep appreciation for backstory, and this book offered plenty of backstory. After reading Chris and Josh's current story, I enjoyed discovering the story of how Chris and Josh's mother died to understand their motivation for their current actions. By showing other creatures and talking about groups of magical beings, the author expanded the world and showed depth in the creation of his world.

Man, I really wanted to love this series. The premise is great, the thought of real practicing witches with magic in the world like it's normal is fun. And who doesn't love two witchy sisters, and add in a bad-guy love interest? Oh yeah.
Sadly, the book seemed to think I wasn't that smart and the characters weren't my favorite: Kathy seems incredibly lucky that she is good at magic, because she does not make smart choices, and Samantha seems a bit too negative and snarky. But maybe if I had a flighty sister like Kathy, I would be negative too. Will was flat-out unbelievable for me. Although, I do think some of this negativity of mine is personal- I truly abhor people that can't get their crap together in real life, and have very limited patience reading about them when reading is supposed to be a pleasure.
On to the good: David Neth is great at setting a scene and I think he does the perfect blend of details and action. That can sometimes be a hard balance. I like that the sisters have banded together to take care of the boys. I'm hoping they get to do some witchcraft as well once they are older. I have not read any other of Mr Neth's books, but I am going to try again- there's enough promise here for me to give it another go.
The Full Moon is an Urban Fantasy. Sisters Kathy and Samantha are witches, Kathy lives with her sister and helps to bring up her nephews. Desperate for a job to help with the bills, Kathy meets an intriguing man whilst leaving her latest job interview. They have lunch and Will soon makes his interest in Kathy apparent, but Will has hidden secrets which he reveals when when Kathy is attacked by a demon. The story takes off with the fantasy world of demons, good and evil and Kathy must decide where her loyalties lie and if she should be ruled by her heart or her head. For me there was too much time spent on menial domestic details especially at the start, when the reader needed to be captured. At the same time opportunities to explain and play up the fantasy creatures and world were quickly brushed over rather than using them to help set up the fantasy world. With a bit more of a content edit, looking at missed emotions of sisters and females, dialogue which in places was a little unreal and reducing overuse of simplistic words (127 uses of the word smile) this book would have a better shot at competing in a very popular genre.
** I was given a fee copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
Honestly it was not a bad story...more of a 3.5...the narration was very good...and if you like witches, it is well worth a listen...Kathy and Samantha are sisters, both have powers and are witches...and Samantha has 2 sons that are coming into their powers slowly but surely.Kathy goes on a job interview and meets Will...he asks her out and after dinner they end up being attacked by a demon fish...and Will kills it...you see Will has powers too...he has dark magic...Kathy is a white witch...but Will seduces her into marriage and almost switches her to the dark side...her sister convinces her she is under a spell...but now Kathy has put herself and her family in danger and it may be too late to save any of them!
Nice listen...and I have book 3 in this series and it is about the sons Josh and Chris..so I am moving on to it next!! This series can be read in any order..the books are stand alones... but fi together as well :)
Although I read or listen to a lot of fantasy books, this was the first book featuring witches and dark knights. I remember having watched a few sequels of 'Charmed' way back, and the book reminded me of that in a good way. We have the fight of good vs evil, and poor Kathy and her sister Samantha are drawn into it without any of their doing.
Which side will win? It doesn't look good for the witches, cause Kathy suddenly shifts her loyalties, and in the end, she and her family pay a dire price for it.
The story was entertaining, and I like the language. I had to find that the subject isn't my preferred one, but the story was interesting enough to keep me listening to the end.
Nathan Weiland did a good job at narrating, so it was an easy listen.
Overall, this was a surprisingly good listen. I have not read anything from this author before and feel he has a lot of potential. The story line and characters are good, I was thrown for a bit with a male narrator (I didn't expect that with a female lead character...lol). I loved the tv series Charmed and this reminded me of Phoebe and Balthazar's relationship and the struggles they faced. "I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review"
