I’ve read this out loud twice. Once to my 8 year old and once to my 5 year old. They both would request it as a nightly read. I liked the scientific elements and the friendship elements. I think this is a great book for a Kindergarten-3rd grader to read. It came from New Worlds reading which is a program in Florida that sends books to students. Excellent selection. I’ll be shopping for other Data Set books.

I thought of this book as teamwork and actually dr Bunsen did the clones that is the biggest plot twist but he did on accident so he was a good guy just a mistake olive kinda took it over as doing the last shot and I loved this book for what it was and I think all of you should read it

I really liked this one! I thought it could have had a little more added to the plot but for a kids book it was great!

Book #5 in the series
Dr. Bunsen clones three of them as he thinks he's helping. It backfires.
Excellent to talk about thinking through consequences of actions.

Dr Bunsen clones the DATA Set to help them complete chores. Chaos ensues.

Eliana’s review: “I liked when the clones were running around all crazy.”

It was kind of funny when Olive turned all of the clones into squirrels and the squirrels all scurried up the tree.

A Case of Clones is the fifth book in The Data Set series. When Dr. Bunsen hears the Data Set team complaining about chores he says “I have one more invention to show you” but Ceaser, Laura, and Gabe are already out the door. Perhaps they should have stayed and listened because the next day their friend Olive starts seeing double.

The chapter book was an easy read with fun black and white images on each page. There are four main reasons I enjoyed this book. First, it contained some fun facts that young readers may find interesting like how chickens and dinosaurs are related. Secondly, the characters come from diverse backgrounds, for example, Gabe’s mother is seen making comments in Spanish. I also like that they did a bit of a twist near the end to make it more difficult for the kids to stop their clones. I think without this small twist the book would have been a little too cliché. The fourth and final reason is because it shows kids that things like science and getting good grades are cool. I suggest giving this book to your child if they are interested in the subject of science. I'm giving the book four stars because although it was entertaining, the story wasn't too groundbreaking, stories about clones have been done a million times before and this one hardly stands out. I also would have liked it if the images were in color.
