SHOCKER is the horror humor story of a prisoner, a religious idol, monsters and mayhem.
Vito “The Shocker” Shocketti has been locked away in Rahway State Penitentiary for twenty years of his life sentence. In that time not one cellmate has endured being quartered with him for very long. That all changes when a young kid, Manny “Dirty” Sanchez, gets put with The Shocker.
A star struck Manny begs “The Shocker” to tell him his legendary story of crime and murder. Vito decides to unload on the kid, who becomes more and more engrossed in The Shocker’s tales of living life on the edge in the seedy heavy metal club scene in 1980’s New Jersey.
The Shocker, impressed that Dirty has not begged the guards to move him from the cell, drops a bombshell. All the murders The Shocker committed were directed at the behest of Baby Jesus. The Shockers tales devolve into the weird and insane.
Could The Shocker be making it all up to make Manny think he is criminally insane or is the Baby Jesus real and has a higher plan for the both of them?
Seasoned writing veteran Armand Rosamillia teams up with hungry newcomer, Frank J Edler to tell this darkly funny story of reckless behavior, oddball monsters and the cherubic Baby Jesus. The two Jersey boys spin a thick flavor of heavy metal life in New Jersey that will make the most bad-ass of metalheads cringe with delight. This story should come with a pair of tight black leather pants and a can of Aqua Net.
Also features an interview with both authors by fellow deranged author Christian Jensen

A fun book comprised of two inmates, with one telling some pretty off the wall stories. Awesome scenes of sex and violence, along with some dark humor.
What did I just read? Is it bad that I laughed a few times? I'm old enough to get most of the music references which was a fun add to this story. So 'Shocker' is telling his cell mate 'Dirty' his story of why he's in prison. And there's women, and music, and how can I leave out Baby Jesus?
This story rocks is like to thank both authors for taking me on a wild funny crazy ride back to the 80 hair metal scene. hell yeah. I dug the hell outta this and will definitely be checking out more from this series 5 stars for all the band defences alone 😆this was a fun read
I finished this book two days ago. Ever since then I've been walking around contemplating what to write about it. (I wasn't really walking for two days straight, Geez!) Anyway. This is the first anything that I've read by either Frank Edler or Armand Rosamilia and I feel that it was a great introduction to both authors. Maybe it's because I'm a southerner, but, I have always liked and been fascinated by people from "Up North". When I was in high school one of my closest friends was from the Bronx. I always said I would move up north when I was older, because they were cooler, had the best music, and there was no racism up there (oh to be young and naive again!). In my early twenties, when a band I was in went to Asbury Park, NJ to play a show at an art gallery, I felt like I had entered a mythical land. So, to read a book about an 80's metal dude in New Jersey - A real Jersey guy - driving around in a Camaro blasting W.A.S.P. and getting up to no good was an awesome experience for me! The story is told in a sort of loose anthology style, which I really dug. The characters are engaging. The antics are wonderfully absurd, as is the premise, and these dudes name drop like every band that I grew up loving, and still listen to even today. The inclusion of music without it being cheesy or awkward, as well as being an integral story element that really helps set up the book's atmosphere, is so refreshing because so many writers get it wrong. These guys really know their metal, and you can tell they love it. It's REAL! That's another quality about this book that I love. The book is real, the love is real, there's so much sincerity and authenticity packed into this short and awesome story. The book ended on a high-note, like in the chorus of "Livin' on a Prayer", and left me wanting to read more adventures of The Shocker, Dirty Sanchez, and the Baby Jesus. (Thank goodness this is part one of a trilogy!) A hilarious interview with the authors is also included at the end of the book, which I've never seen before and I think is a killer addition to this volume. If you love metal or good stories or both, buy this book and support some real, down-to-earth metal dudes! Rock!!
Wtf? Seriously, I can't explain this batsh*t story in a few lines. Yet fun for all the puritans in your life. Can't wait to read the next installment of this masterpiece.
Shocker is in prison for life. He gets a roommate. To this roommate, he tells all kinds of stories to. He also mentioned Baby Jesus comes and tells him to do things.
Rock/Metal Bizarros are typically unadulterated power fantasies of evil worshipping and 80's band trivia, but "Shocker" fails in all regards. It is a fairly standard "slice of life" of a serial killer rotting in prison, whose murders are inspired by hard music and Baby Jesus hallucinations. He meets an easily excitable younger prisoner who feeds on the killer's stories - all of them ego trips with zero surprises in them - and at the end the whole book dissolves into a cacophony of rushed twists made specifically to set up a trilogy. A trilogy I have no intention to waste time reading.
Now, if you really want that unadulterated power fantasy of evil worshipping and brain-damaging amount of band trivia, I would highly suggest reading "High on Blood at the End of the World" by Joel Kaplan. That book at least stands out as a Bizarro of high quality, maddening twists of highly unpredictable plot, and satisfying culmination. Everything that Shocker could have, but didn't.
As a fan of Armand Rosamilia’s, I eagerly await his new books. Teaming up with Frank J. Edler and coming up with this book was utter genius! It is a quick read mainly because you are reading so fast in order to see what comes out of the “Shockers” mouth next as he tells his cellmate of his life of crime, which by themselves isn’t funny but coupled with being told by “Baby Jesus” to do them…well, the tale is comical at times! With so many memories brought back from the wonderful times known as the 80’s, this story is high on my recommendation list as I look forward to see what is in store in book two!
Ok so first thing is I loved the 80's! The hair the music...all of it. So when I met Frank and Armand and they told me what the story was about I bought book one and two. I'm also a NYkr so the Jersey thing also helped. It was definitely a different genre than I normally go for. I really liked reading all the crazy shit that the Shocker did before ending up in jail. Great twist at the end as well! Looking forward to book 2.
I found this to be quite amusing while also dark and interesting enough to breeze through it in about an hour. The interview at the end of was hilarious as well. Recommending to fans of modern horror.
A humorous dark prison tale. This is a fast read and hard to put down. The baby Jesus has been directing the shocker on who to kill and now dirty is stuck in a cell with him while we listen to the shocker's tales.
