I Will Give You Rest

Rate this book
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28, 29, NASB).

When my mother breathed her last, “one reality trumped all my other thoughts, feelings, and She was resting in Jesus; evil could no longer touch her, pain could no longer reach her, the devil could no longer bother her. She was in complete rest in Jesus. And that was true not merely because she had died, but because she had passed away with the full assurance of her eternal salvation.”

This true rest is available to each of us today! The full assurance of salvation can be ours when we accept the rest God offers at the foot of the cross.

When the rubber meets the road, when we are at our wit’s end, when we come to the end of our journey, or when the life of a loved one is about to slip away, we must have a clear, unquestionable, and assured rest in Jesus, because Jesus wins!

Elizabeth Viera Talbot was born in Argentina to the home of Adventist missionaries. Since her early childhood her parents instilled in her the love of Jesus and she always envisioned preaching and teaching as she gathered her dolls as an audience. After completing her Bachelors in music education, Elizabeth went on to work in the business world for many years in the accounting and managing departments. She earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Behavior at that time. During this period of approx. 15 years, she volunteered as a part-time youth pastor. She was invited to become a full-time minister which she gladly accepted as a call from God. She became a young adults/young families’ pastor and evangelist while earning her Master’s degree in Biblical studies and subsequent Ph.D. in the university of Gloucestershire, UK. She has enjoyed evangelism in many forms. Eventually she became a senior pastor for several years and an adjunct Biblical Studies Professor.

As the Speaker/Director of a Christian media ministry, Elizabeth is now fully living her “calling”: to lift up Jesus that He may draw all to HImself. Elizabeth’s main identity is her passion about the good news of Jesus Christ: “It’s like fire in my bones” she says, and she means it!

I had the opportunity to hear Elizabeth Talbot speak back in January. she was dynamic , clear, an exciting speaker to listen to. that vibrancy didn't come through in this little book. I think her subject is too important to be condensed down into a little 100 page pamphlet book. she should expand and write a much bigger book on the subject of Rest.
