Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Molly McAdams’ powerful new novel offers one of the most memorable love triangles in fiction since Twilight—perfect for fans of New Adult fiction like Jamie McGuire, Abbi Glines, and Tamarra Webber.

Futures are uncertain, unpredictable—like ink spilled across the purest surface. Nearly imperceptible ripples move and flow until a unique stain is formed. The ink is permanently embedded in the surface…

During one wild night in college, Jentry Michaels is a tidal wave of ink that brands Aurora Wilde’s soul. An unparalleled stain she can’t forget despite the many months that have passed—and despite the distraction she’d hoped she would find in her new relationship with Declan, the charmer who captured her heart soon after. Jentry has irrevocably touched her soul, and he is intertwined in her present and future in ways she never fathomed. Now Aurora is faced with keeping that night hidden though it feels as if the ink has indelibly etched their story across her skin.

When Declan is confronted with his own personal demons, Aurora must decide if she will continue to hold tight to their relationship and a safe, reliable future with him, or if she will turn to Jentry—the guy she can’t forget no matter how hard she tries.…

Molly grew up in California but now lives with her husband and daughter in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody and dishing out movie quotes with her hubby. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and loves curling up in a fluffy blanket during a thunderstorm . . . or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

"Too much ANGST about nothing"

At times, this was even worse than "Santa Barbara", "Dynasty" and "Dallas" re-runs combined...

So, the plot starts when Aurora Wilde has a one NIGHT stand at a frat party with Jay (who isn't actully Jay but I'll get to that later) and that's what they both go along with...
He tells her he's leaving, she thinks it's a "line", but she plays it out anyway...
So, this ONE night is so fuckin memorable...that she goes searching for him the next week...at the same frat house party and meets Declan...

Fast forward 10 months, Aurora and Declan are a couple.
And they are living together, and she has to put up with Declan's mom Linda, who can't stand her and is making her life miserable, and then, he enters the pages...Jentry, Declan's brother, actually adopted brother, who's coming back from his fourth tour as a Marine.

and then you can put one and one together...hence Jay is Jentry.

And since that ONE night was such a fuckin blast,
I tried to forget you, but somehow you embedded yourself so deeply into my soul in just one night, that forgetting you - forgetting that night - was impossible.

Jentry (Jay) whatever the hell your name is, is still thinking about that violet-eyed girl that rocked his world (literally and figuratively) 10 months ago, and now, she's in front of him, and she's his brother's girlfriend.

*gasps*

Now, If that isn't a set up for ANGSTY feels, i don't know what is.

I had to try real hard to keep my nerves at ease, since i went into this blind and figured out about the fuckin love triangle, and that is actually one of the rare subjects that really goes on my nerves...I was like, well, fine...I might as well finish it when I already read it as far...
And then the drama...people the drama, unnecessary drama, cause the characters DO NOT COMMUNICATE, well fuck it, you gonna have huge problems if you don't speak up...

So, there's your plot.

No communication. - in a sense neither of them is actually stating their real feelings when they should be speaking up and standing up for each of themselves...regarding the real issues and the issues regarding the right people :/ (i had to clear this up...so you wouldn't think they dont speak to each other lol)

Annoying situation(s).

Unnecessary sacrifice - for the sake of the peace in the house (that is one of the most stupidest reasons to bear any situation, much less the abusing, psychologically mobing one)

And the pacing - we have three stages through out the book...as it's describing THAT ONE NIGHT, than jumps into the sphere ONE MONTH AGO and then THE PRESENT DAY...

It confused the fuck out of me!

and it's seems I was wrong when the character's say how that ONE NIGHT of sex changed them profoundly...as the moment they saw each other they actually SAW each other...
I knew who you were that first night, Aurora. I didn't need to know your name, or your friends, or what your favorite color was to know you.

and sure, i get it, cause after THAT ONE NIGHT of sex has been dragged through out 300 and more pages...

I fucking SEE you too! More than I ever wanted to...

and let me tell you this too, all that shit of an angst you dragged out, it's not worth the pain and waste of air, It could have all been handled with just one sentence...

I despise love triangles and all the drama that comes with them. But there was something about this blurb that just drew me in and made me want to give this book a chance. I'm really glad that I did because I ended up enjoying this story!

One night of being wild changed Aurora's life and she didn't even realize it. A year ago she decided to stop being the good girl and had one night to walk on the bad side, spending it with a man she only knew as Jay. They walked away from each other that night with no plans to come in contact again. But that all changes when Jay aka Jentry shows up in her life. Oh and just happens to be her now-boyfriends adopted brother.

I had an equal amount of things that I liked about this story and what I didn't like about it. What I enjoyed was how gripping the tale of these three characters was. I was nervous going into it because I really wasn't sure how I would handle a love triangle book but it ended up being very interesting and the main thing that had me so focused on it. I really liked how there wasn't that one guy that was made out to be the "bad guy" and the one we all hated in the love triangle. Instead i ended up feeling for both Jentry and Declan and didn't want to see either of them hurt.

What I didn't like and what made me lose a bit of focus was the time jumps. I don't like going back and forth in books and have only read a few books that did that that I ended up liking. But in this book I just couldn't get into the past story and didn't understand why it skipped in weird increments of time. We had the present and then the past from a year ago, to a few months in the past, to a month before. It just seemed off to me and I found myself skimming some of those parts because I just wanted to get back to the present.

Overall, even with the issues that I had while reading this I still very much enjoyed the story. I know not everyone likes love triangles but I still say to give this book a chance. If I can read this and end up falling in love with the characters then I definitely think it's worth everyone else giving it a chance.

The blurb and cover alluded to a more intriguing read than the actual story ended up delivering. It was okay but I have read a very similar new adult plot so I knew the ending at the very beginning.

It started off with a wild night between two strangers and then had them officially meet after a year. Unfortunately, Aurora Wilde was living with Declan, the brother of her one night stand, Jentry Michaels.

I feel like the author had already positioned and continually maneuvered the reader towards the brother Aurora ended up with. First of all, it's hard to root for a man who lets his mother treat his girlfriend the way Declan's mom treated Aurora. The fact that the whole family, father and sisters, stood quietly by observing such vile behavior already poisoned them in my mind.

Also, there wasn't enough interaction between Aurora and with Declan to really show the chemistry and intensity to rival the passion she shared with Jentry. I am convinced that Declan knew from that first day he introduced Aurora to Jentry that there was something going on. It just became a matter of time and what would be the casualties when Jentry and Aurora claimed each other.

This story would be stronger if the author developed the characters much more. The The writing was okay but I didn't like the time jump, 13 months ago, present time, That night, 2 months ago etc. The flow of the story felt disrupted with the back and forth with the characters. I was expecting more of a love triangle than it ended up being.

The last scene with Declan's mother and Aurora was such BS. No way would that be sufficient. I don't see why Aurora never stood up for herself then or at the end. I would have respected Aurora if she told her to get out.

Overall, this book was underwhelming. The characters and overall story was too undercooked to truly move me.

About a year ago Aurora - Rorie - wanted to be wild for one night. She was sick of being the good college girl. And that one night ended up being the most amazing night of her life. She had an unforgettable time with Jay. No more details about names or anything were given, it was just supposed to be one night.

But she never forgot him. Even now that she's so happily living with her boyfriend Declan.

And then suddenly Jay - real name Jentry - is back. And it couldn't be any worse. He's Declan's adopted brother and best friend!!!

How can she live with herself if she doesn't tell Dec about that night? But what should she say? That it has been the most amazing night of her life?
She doesn't want to hurt him. But she also doesn't want to lie to him for the rest of her life....

Another thing on her mind... her future mother-in-law Linda. She's the most horrible and snobby person ever. She's belittling and insulting Rorie every time they see each other - which is pretty often, because mommy dearest has a key to their apartment!!!

What will happen to Rorie and her guys???
Will there be a Happy Ever After??
OR WILL THERE BE A HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGER?

I'm not telling you that!

WAAAAAAA - what did I do?!?!

Why did I read this book? I HATE love triangles!!! Someone always gets their heart broken or dies or both....
But I love Molly's books, so I had to read it! ☺

And it was ok!

For my already very confused Bookalzheimer brain it was very confusing at first, because every new chapter takes place in another time: 2 weeks earlier, 1 month earlier, present time, one year ago et cetera. ☺ But you quickly get what's what.

But I still hate love triangles and I never want one of the guys to get hurt. But it has to happen. I like those triangles when one of those guys is a bit mean or horrible. But that's not what happened here.
You're sorry for Declan, because you're always pretty sure that Rorie will end up with Jentry. And you want to fast forward to the end, so that you miss seeing how hurt poor Declan will be.

I will never be a fan of those books, but it wasn't as bad as it could've been. ☺

Jentry and Rorie are so adorable and perfect for each other - it only takes them the whole book to get together :/

description

If you like love triangles this will be your kind of book.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.
I still rate it 4 stars because it's not the book or author's fault that I don't like love triangles!☺

I SEE YOU was a very moving and interesting love story. Run to your nearest amazon to find out how and with whom Rorie will get her Happily Ever After!

Initial thoughts:

I really like Molly McAdams so I was so looking forward to reading this book.

1) The tagline is "one of the most memorable love triangles in fiction since Twilight". Um no. I actually really like love triangles. But the key is that both love interests have to be equally viable choices. This was not the case here at all.

2)The book jumps all over the place in terms of time. I am not a big fan of going back and forth in time. But for it to work for me I need all the time periods to be equally interesting. In this case the book goes between one event in the past, a year before, 2 months before, 1 month before, and the present. It was so confusing to me that the story jumped all over the place. I wish we had just one scene from the past and then had the story move chronologically in time. There was one interesting reveal that I suspect was the main reason for this back and forth in time. But overall it just didn't work for me at all. At around 50% the story moved to the present. And this worked much better for me. And I enjoyed the book a lot more from that point on.

3)Declan's mother Linda was the most awful character. Wow, I didn't realize that I could dislike someone so much.

**********************************************

The book is a New Adult contemporary romance. It is divided into five parts. The book goes back and forth in time a lot.

The narrators are Aurora and Jentry.

The book begins with a night that took place approximately 13 months ago. College student Aurora/Rorie meets a stranger and has an unforgettable night that she can't forget.

Shortly after that night she meets Declan.

The book blurb mentions that this book has a love triangle. I actually really enjoy a good love triangle where fans root for one of the two guys, but you do not actually know who the girl will end up with. I think there was so much potential in this story for this to be a real love triangle. I didn't really get the insta-love that Rorie feels for the stranger. I wish that her feelings had been equal between both guys so that we as readers could choose our favorite.

This story goes back and forth in time a lot. The book goes between: the night in the past, one year before the present, 2 months before, 1 month before and the present. I did not like this at all. I am not a fan of books going back and forth in time. However, for me to like it both/all the time periods have to be equally interesting. In this case it wasn't that the time periods were not interesting (although I did not care at all for the scenes from the night in the past where Rorie met the stranger). But it was really confusing. Especially between 1 month before and the present. Those time periods were so close that it was hard to remember which I was reading about.

There were a few reveals that were pretty good. It was interesting how things had happened one month ago, yet we were not aware of them in the present. I do believe that was one reason the author wanted to tell the story this way. However, I would have much preferred to have just had the story told chronologically. It would have been much less confusing and I think I would have responded more to the story.

The second half of the story was told all in the present. And I liked it much more. There was a lot happening in the last half of the story. And I enjoyed it.

Declan was very close to his family and his mother Linda was one of the key characters in this story. She was such an interesting character. It's easy to dislike rapists or people who hurt others. But Linda was basically a loving mom who raised a big family. Yet the way she acted towards Rorie was unbelievable.

Overall, this book got off to a very rocky start for me. But the last half of the book was full of twists and enjoyable story-telling.

The blurb called to me, and while I enjoyed this one it was a bit of a slow starter. The time jumps were frustrating at times, the pacing in the beginning led to me disconnecting from the story and while the second half was addictive reading it was still a hard push to finish. I enjoyed it, just didn't love it.

5 Quentin Tarantino Stars

Molly McAdams is the Quentin Tarantino of contemporary romance. But with less blood. And more angst. And internal pain. And more sweet tea. Lots more sweet tea.

I See You breaks the time space continium. It goes forward and back in time. Don't worry, you'll catch on. Just go with it. Know that there are some things that the characters know that you don't. Just like middle school, everyone else seems to have insider information I didn't.

Aurora/Rorie hooks up at a college party. With the dark, brooding sexy guy in the corner. The bad boy who tells her this is a one night stand. Now Rorie is not really a One Night Stand Kinda Gal, but she wants to be different. Be that girl for one night. Just one night.

I wanted tonight with him. I didn't want his life.

Declan is the guy Rorie met the next weekend. The nice guy. The one that can give her the life she wants. The guy who loves her. Loves her and stays. Not the guy who leaves. That's who she needs.

"Welcome home", Declan murmured into my ear as wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest.

But this is a Molly McAdams/Quentin Tarantino book. So you know it is not that easy. Oh Hell No.

Jentry (Hydra head #3) comes back home from the Marines. You can guess who he is, right? I mean it is right there in the blurb....this is a TRIANGLE. A triangle as only Molly can do. A triangle with three points that are sharp enough to cut you. Shred you.

Because I fell in love with you the night you took my soul.

Oh My Gawd....shredddddd.

I hurt for Rorie. She wants to do the right thing. But the right thing for who?

And let me just warn you.....Linda. You will want to throw ninja stars at Linda.

I See You will take your guts and spread them around in a decorative pattern. You're favorite reading chair will be reupholstered in Post Modern Angst. Molly finds new ways to torture her characters and by extension....her readers.

Falling in love with you was the easiest thing I have ever done, but figuring out how to start our lives will be the most difficult.

Difficulty degree:10
From the East German Judge.
If there still was a East Germany.

I can't tell you too much about the plot because I want you to be as damaged from reading it as I was. I will tell you there is bread pudding, texting, cold sand, not so quiet whispers, hidden boxes and tiaras. Oh, I almost forgot.....pain and regret. Bread pudding with a hearty side of pain and regret. Don't invite Molly McAdams to family dinner. Or at least don't ask her to bring dessert.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars!!

“Jentry was a weakness. An addiction. One my body and soul would never be able to get enough of, but one I would have to fight against in the coming weeks and months…who knew how long. Because no matter how much we needed each other, needed this, there were other things far more important than us that needed to be addressed and cared for first.”

“I tried to forget that night…I tried to forget you, but somehow you embedded yourself so deeply into my soul that in just one night, that forgetting you–forgetting that night–was impossible. I don’t need a lifetime with you to know that no one and nothing will ever compare to what’s between us.”

“She was light and I was dark. She was bliss and I was man dying. Need was too weak of a word to describe what was coursing through me.”

I See You is a beautifully written and captivating story. As someone who is honestly not a fan of love triangles, I will be the first to admit that I try to steer clear of them when it’s possible. But, there is just something about Molly McAdams writing that makes me want to read her stories. I know her stories are going to be tough. I know they are going to pull at my heart and send my emotions flying all over the place. Knowing all that, I still can’t help myself from picking up and devouring her books.

I See You is told from multiple points of view and is a stand-alone read. Jentry and Aurora meet by chance and spend an amazing night together. A night that many would forget, but seared itself into their souls. Aurora couldn’t forget about Jentry, but didn’t know his name. And when she decides to go searching for her mystery man, she finds Declan instead. Declan was everything that Aurora could ever want and need. He was perfection and stole her heart….That is until fate had other plans and Jentry blew into town with a twist that no one ever saw coming…..

I See You is one of those stories that just pulls at your heart and makes it impossible to choose sides. It is a story about love; the different types of love. It is a story about fate and circumstance. It is a story of soulmates and a love that will never die. Aurora, Jentry and Declan’s story is in no way an easy one. It is filled with lots of emotion, frustration, family drama, love and heartache. Their story will have twists and turns that you won’t see coming. You will be on the edge of your seat, wondering how it will all play out in the end….Molly McAdams, you have written another beautiful story and I can not wait to see what journey you take my poor heart on next.

I haven't read all of Molly McAdams books, but the ones I've read have always left me shredded. The stories tend to center around love triangles so it's justifiable I would feel worn out and hung over after reading one of her books. It's exactly the the kind of angst that I love and hate. I See You involves a scenario that can only lead to heartache for all involved and McAdams delivers on that oh so well. At the center of this story is Aurora, Declan and Jentry, a triad of characters in one very uncomfortable situation.

The story is delivered through time line changes (past and present) in various increments and from multiple view points. This 360 view is one of my favorites as we are in our characters deepest thoughts. What makes this story, aside from the complexity of the situation is that the characters are all deeply flawed. I found myself changing my stance on what I thought should happen multiple times.

Aurora is a young women trying to move past meeting someone who captured her soul, only to find out he is very much a part of her present only in an entirely different role. She's tortured by this and unable to share this secret with anyone but him, Jentry. Declan, Aurora's boyfriend is hiding something and is in general "absent" from their relationship. Amazingly enough, Aurora battles a bigger issue with Declans mother Linda. Linda is so easy to hate. And I did. She's manipulative, intrusive and all around just horrible. There were many moments I wondered if Declan was worth what his mother puts Aurora through. My vote was no, he wasn't. This was the one thing that made me crazy. Aurora doesn't stand up for herself enough, and Declan seems to not even see how his mother treats her. It's Linda too that drives much of the story line, much of the drama and the feelings of dread that I experienced. All I could think was poor Aurora.

Unfortunately for Aurora, their is no escaping Linda. But Jentry is worth it. He is completely endearing and very much worth the fight. Even with his small secretive past he manages to be the one bright spot in Aurora's life. For all the drama and dread, McAdams manages to make this read sexy and fun during the flashbacks to "That Night...". Plus, Jentry is just such a gentleman, authentic and earnest, he's the obvious choice for hero.

There's much activity in this story and in general McAdams makes it easy to follow. It's not always plausible, but it's not so far off the mark to make it contrived. I See You took my heart on a wild ride. Be prepared for drama and some love-hate moments. 4 Stars and recommendation!

My Thoughts:

I See You is a new adult romance all about tough decisions, bad timing, animal attraction, and overcoming tough odds. It is a story written in typical Molly McAdams fashion with a lot of emotion, angst, and a whopping love triangle that will tear at your heart.

Aurora "Rorie" Taylor has always been a "good" girl, who is responsible and dedicated to her studies to become an elementary school teacher. Her senior year of college, she decides to go to a party to be someone else for the night. She ends up meeting "Jay," at the party. He is gorgeous, intense, and has an appeal that Rorie has never experienced before. They spend one unbelievable, life-changing night together. Rorie can't get him out of her mind. However, when she goes to a college party the following weekend looking for "Jay," she doesn't find him.

Instead she meets, Declan "Dec" Veil. Dec is sweet, charming, fun, and attentive. Their relationship develops pretty quickly, and soon they are moving in together. However, Rorie can never forget Jay, and oftentimes finds herself fantasying about him. She feels guilty, and is determined to make things work with Dec, but can't help the way she cannot get her one night stand out of her mind.

Dec's adopted brother and best friend, Jentry Michaels, is finally getting out of the Marines, and Dec can't wait for his girl to meet him. Rorie is excited as well because she's heard all about Jentry. She is curious what he looks like, because she hasn't even seen so much as a picture of him. Dec's mother, who is the monster-in-law from hell, refuses to show Rorie any pictures, so you can imagine her shock when she see's Jentry for the first time, and realizes that he is her "Jay."

Jentry never got Aurora out of his mind. The night they shared together was life-changing, and he hasn't touched a woman since. As Dec constantly talked about the love of his life, "Rorie," Jentry never made the connection that Rorie was "Aurora," the name she introduced herself to him as. Now to complicate matters, Jentry, is staying in the guest bedroom of Dec and Rorie's apartment, until he can find a place of his own. Jentry vows to stay far away from Rorie, because he could never betray or hurt his brother and best friend. How will Rorie and Jentry resist the magnetic pull towards one another? Who will Rorie end up with, and will the three of them be able to survive the fallout of secrets revealed and irresistible temptations?

I See You was a good read. I always enjoy Molly McAdams stories, and this one was no different. It was a page-turner, that had me interested to see how everything would turn out. Dec and Jentry's mother was the very definition of monster-in-law, and drove me crazy! She said horrible things to Rorie and the things she did had me seeing red, but she kept the story that much more interesting. I wanted Rorie to stand up to her, which she did not do, and that irked me to the core! Dec didn't do a very good job of putting his mother in her place either, which annoyed me.

As far as side plots go, we also get to know Jentry's troubled biological sister, Jessica, and the dysfunctional and abusive family unit they came from. This contributed to Jentry fearing that he would turn in to his father, which as a reader I had no fear of happening, but understood why this haunted him.
My Rating:

I give, I See You, by Molly McAdams, 4 Magnetic Attraction, Unforgettable Night, Tough Decisions, Angst & Heartbreak filled Stars!

Molly McAdams does love triangles like no-one else. Rorie (Aurora) wants one night where she isn't the good student, friend and daughter, she wants passion with no strings and she finds it at a Duke University party with "J" a gorgeous stranger. After her night with the tall dark stranger, Rorie is haunted by his dark sinful eyes and deep raspy voice. Determined to find him again, she goes back to Duke in search of the stranger and falls right into the arms of Declan. Handsome green eyed Declan is perfect on paper having just graduated, has a great job lined up and wants to marry and have children with Rorie. After scoring a teaching job in the same city as Declan, they move in together to begin their life. Well, they would if Declan's evil bitch of a mother would stop popping by with her key (seriously, change the fucking locks) and making Rorie doubt and loathe herself at every turn. Linda doesn't want Rorie for her son and will stop at nothing to drive Rorie out of her son's life. Even though she is miserable and very much down on herself, Rorie goes out for what she believes will be a fun date with Declan and a blind date for her best friend Taylor, but she sees those eyes and hears that voice and Rorie is sent into a downward spiral. With enough angst and tears to fill the state of Texas, this one will take you on a rollercoaster ride. For those readers who dislike moving from one period of a time to another, this book will drive you crazy. The author flips from "That Night" to "One Year Ago" to "Two Months Ago" to "Present Day" and I found myself going back to figure out the time line more than once, and frankly it was just plain confusing at times. My only other criticisms are that the heroine cried too much for me but I guess I am an emotional cripple, and "J" was just a little too perfect.

Another out of this world read from Molly McAdams. I was absolutely intrigued with this book and once I started I couldn't put it down.

What if you had the connection of a lifetime with someone, but never saw them again. Or at least you thought you would never see them again. And in the meantime, you found someone else that you had a connection with, that you loved but there was still just something missing.

For Rorie Wilde - she never thought she would see "Jay" again. They shared a magnetic night together, but the next morning he was gone. When she goes back to look for him the next weekend, she meets Declan and they hit it off and start dating.

What she never expected was for "Jay" to walk back into her life. And now she doesn't know what to do. Follow her heart and go with the guy she hasn't been able to stop thinking about for the past year or stay with the man who has shown her love and has always been there for her.

You're emotions will run high while reading I See You. My heart broke for all three of them as they navigated through the what nows. This book goes from the past to the future in the different stages of all their relationships so you get a good detailed account of everything that happened.

You can't go wrong with a Molly McAdams book and I See You is another top read for me!

Original review: The Daydreaming Bookworm

*I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

You know that moment when you finish reading one of your most anticipated releases by one of your favorite authors and you expect to be lying in a puddle of feels, but instead you just want to throw your eReader across the room and rage because your fave let you down? This is currently me and I feel so betrayed. I am a big fan of Molly McAdams previous works, but I See You was just not a book for me. I was really hoping that this book would of won me over in the end , but that just didn’t happen for me.

I See You is a story about two strangers who share one night of passion, without any expectations of ever seeing each other again, only to have fate bring them together once more. Aurora Wilde has never been one to be tied up in a relationship, but she can’t seem to move on from the mysterious stranger that left her wanting more. But when she sets out to find this mystery man, he is nowhere to be found. Instead, she meets Declan Veil and the two eventually start a relationship. Months later, Aurora continues to put the past behind her and move forward with her relationship with Declan, but when the past collides with the present, Aurora will find herself torn between two men, one she loves and one she could possibly love.

Although there were not many things that I loved about this story, I did like the way the story was written. I See You is told from dual POVs of Aurora and Jentry and it is also told within the span of a year. Throughout this book, we jump from the past to the present and we get see how our characters met, how Aurora fell for both of our male MCs and how she is currently trying to figure out what to do with these feelings she has for both of them. There is a bit of suspense throughout the book due to the back and forth time jump because just when you think you’re getting somewhere, the story changes to a different time and you’re left waiting to see what was going to happen next. That was pretty much the only thing I liked about this book. Everything else was a mess.

First, THE DRAMATICS WERE OVERKILL! From the love triangle, to the family drama, to the damaged male MC who ruins everything he touches, to the unnecessary plot twists, it was just ALL TOO MUCH.

description

I’m not a fan of love triangles, but I was willing to give McAdams the benefit of the doubt since she hadn’t let me down before. BIG MISTAKE on my part because I could not get on board with the love triangle and I honestly couldn’t even buy the romance because of the insta-love happening between our characters. The thing is, Aurora only had one night with Jentry and while they may have connected on some level that night, how deep can that connection really be when you don’t even know the guy’s real name? No personal information was exchange so it seems like this is more like lust and not actually love. As for her feelings for Declan, why are you stringing this guy along when you know damn well you have feelings for someone else? Also, because of a certain plot twist, I don’t feel like Declan got the fighting chance he deserved to show Aurora how much he loved her and that he could make her happy. Characters can throw out ‘I Love Yous’ all they want, but if I’m not actually seeing and feeling that connection, I’m not going to buy it.

The secondary characters in this book annoyed me to no end. Declan’s mother treats Aurora awful as she does not believe that she is good enough to be with her son and no one does anything about it! Aurora takes all of Declan’s mom snide remarks lying down and I understand that she was just trying to keep the peace, but at some point enough is enough and you’ve got to say something. What I don’t understand is why Declan never really stepped in to diffuse the situation in the first place. Shouldn’t you be protecting the girl you love so dearly against those who try to break her down, even if that person is your own mother?

As for our main characters, I couldn’t connect with either Aurora or Jentry and this was probably the most frustrating thing of all. I didn’t like Aurora and her indecisiveness and how she was so willing to throw all she had with Declan to the side, just to have a chance with Jentry. It was unfair and honestly, things could’ve been a lot less messy if there was better communication between these three characters because at least then both guys would’ve know where they stood. Jentry is your typical damaged bad boy who is a little bit too possessive for my taste. His whole backstory was over the top and I can’t say I really felt anything for him.

I See You was an over dramatic and shallow romance that had the potential to be so much more if not for all the excess baggage that was weighing it down. I had so much hope for this book, but my fave let me down and I’m just ready to move on from this mess. Hopefully McAdams next book will be a hit!

Molly McAdams is the queen of all things angst and love triangles! There has not been a single book by her that I didn't love and that didn't involve angst for days or a complicated love triangle. If I want either of those things, I immediately see if Molly has anything new or check out any of her books that I haven't had the pleasure of reading. This book was nothing short of perfection and there was not a single thing I didn't like about this book. The author sure knows how to hook you from the start and make it to where you don't want to put the book down although the angst got to be too much at times so I was forced to put the book down or go insane. Of course knowing Molly, I was already prepared to be destroyed and had tissues on hand.

I See You goes back and forth between the past and the present but don't worry because you'll catch on soon enough. Aurora/Rorie hooks up at a college party with the hot, brooding, mysterious guy in the corner. The bad boy that tells her he can only give her one night and that's usually not the kind of girl she is but she wants to be different for one night. Rorie meets Declan the next weekend when she goes back to search for her mystery man. Declan is the nice guy, the charmer who stole her heart from the moment they met but Jentry had touched her soul. She thought she'd never see him again but when he pops back up into her life in the most devastating, angsty way, she is forced to keep that night hidden from everyone around. She is caught in the middle of a battle where no matter what someone will end up hurt. She is inevitably forced to choose between the safe and reliable relationship she has with Declan or Jentry, the guy who her soul calls for and who she can't forget about no matter how hard she tries.

Molly has a knack for making you fall in love with the other guy. I was rooting for Jentry the whole time and I loved everything about him!! (Sorry Declan) He was soft and hard and sweet and sexy and protective. I loved it when he stood up to his mother on Aurora's behalf. Don't even get me talking about his mother Linda. She was nothing short of a witch. I kind of understood her actions though, especially at the end when she sort of redeems herself, but I cried for what she put Aurora through. And Aurora was a strong female lead and I applaud her for everything she had to go through. I know I wouldn't have been as strong as her under the circumstances and I know this is fiction but still.

This book was an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions and will give you one heck of a book hangover but it is well worth it! I loved Aurora, Declan, and Jentry and was super happy and pleased with how it ended! I can't wait to see what else Molly has in store for us next!

Molly McAdams seems to be able to lure me into messy love triangles, before I even realise I’ve been caught. This story was no exception.

'When I look at you, Aurora, I see everything I've ever wanted'

Aurora spends one wild night with a brooding sexy guy she meets at a frat house. He completely dominates her and leaves everlasting memories all over her body. He consumes her mind, her heart and is embedded in her skin. He did all of that in 12 hours. They swapped no contact details and both understood it was a one night thing.

However, someone who affects you that much can never be just one night, when you are constantly thinking of them, even months later. Therefore when Aurora’s current boyfriend introduces her to his brother, who has just returned from overseas deployment, she is shocked to see it is the man she had that mind blowing night with.

'From that very first night, Jentry had been a tidal wave of ink branded into my soul, staining me with our complicated, devastating story. And it was beautiful.'

Well this is a conundrum for her. He definitely recognises her too but not the nickname her boyfriend Declan calls her - Rorie. Rorie loves Declan. He is sweet and loving, he makes her feel settled and safe. She had tried to move on after she realised she would never see ‘Jay’ again. However, the more she is around Jentry (Jay) the more the memory of that incredible night she shared with him seems to be slowing erasing the good ones with Declan and she doesn’t know what she is going to do about it.

'My body was vibrating from keeping myself from her, from keeping myself from what was mine. 'Should've been mine," I whispered, reminding us both that she belonged to someone else.'

They are both fighting it and it all comes to a head one tragic night, leaving them consumed with guilt. Aurora has a tough decision to make and either way there will be broken hearts.

'I pressed my forehead to his and held his stare as I fought to catch my breath... and prayed that this moment wouldn't end'

Molly is the queen of angst and I was invested, wondering what the hell was going to happen in this story. I have to say that I found all the jumping around timewise a bit tricky to get my head around, at times I was confused but it all settles down into ‘present day’ about halfway through the book. Molly is also really good at writing really mean book villains and I have to say the one featured in this book was the nastiest yet!

I can always pick up a Molly McAdams book and know that I'm going to love it and enjoy every moment. This story like all of her others will not disappoint, it's full of feels, love, steam, and characters that you'll love and hate.

Rorie and Jay are perfect for each other from the begining but life happens and that adds to the large web of love and secrets that is woven. The yearning between these too is over the top and gets you in the gut, the heart and the head. I had chills from all the feels, like you have no idea the FEELS are intense and I'd read it again just to experience that.

This story wasn't only a love story, it was a story about a terrible mother in law to be. Molly can always make you some how attach to her characters but this mother was written in such a whole new way for molly (I think). You'll hate her, she's a monster, and her family somewhat enables her and that drove me nuts. I have to say that when Jay (Jentry) stood up to her, that made him so much more swoon worthy. This mother was crazy, selfish, and mean, and all around she was perfect villian. Molly's talent, I think, showed in this character because she never wavered from who the character truly was like, and it didn't seem forced it came to her easily.

The story does have flash backs to the past and present but never in a way that would confuse you, it's just slowly un wrapping each thing that has happened. And that plays into the way you feel during your read too. Each moment in the book captured my attention and held it, I didn't want to set the book down at all. This book is going onto my "Best of 2016" list. I highly recommend it and I'll definitely find myself re-reading this one.

A Brilliant and Masterfully written love story about loyalty, trust and having the strength to fight for love.

I See You by Molly McAdams is not a book for everyone. Why you ask? Because it flips back and forth through time and not everyone is a fan of that type of writing, however it is done in such a perfect way that it did not bother me at all and in fact made the story all that much richer.

Once you get your head around the whole time thing, it’s actually quite an intriguing story.

This novel is about a love triangle revolving around Aurora Wilde, a girl who has a one night stand only to realize at a later date that she may actually want more. That there may be something about the stranger she was with that she can’t seem to let go of.

After no luck finding him, Aurora meets Declan Veil who she does actually start a relationship with. Eventually the past catches up with her and her mystery stranger – Jentry, reappears back on the scene to confuse Aurora. Throw in Declan’s annoying mother and this story will take you on one hell of a ride.

It was BRILLIANT. Touching, heart breaking, passionate .. it is a read that will make you cry, laugh and swoon.

This is a five star read.

*sigh*

I was so nervous going into this one and once I started reading I thought here we go again! Another love triangle from Molly McAdams. I prepared myself to be destroyed again. LOL! Don't get me wrong I would go in blind and not knowing what the story was about if it had Molly's name on it.

I absolutely loved the plot and the characters created. The chemistry was off the charts!! It will take you on a emotional rollercoaster. There are twists and turns that you didn't see coming. Even though it was a love triangle it was beautifully written. It's filled with so many feels per usual when it comes to Molly McAdams.

There are no cliffhangers and told in the POV of both main characters and also goes from past and present to help understand what happened. This is another MUST read!!!

Molly McAdams is still one of my favorites. Not only is she an amazing person and so friendly when you meet her, she is just a sweetie.

So, it does pain me to say that I See You didn't work for me at all! Now this might be a case of "it's not you, it's me" and some people are probably going to LOVE it. But, for me the timeline and jumping back and forth between present and the future was SUPER confusing. Just when I thought I had figured out what "tense" I was in and got into that story line, it switched to another. And this isn't just a matter of it being past and present- no it jumps from one month ago to one year ago to present to two months ago, etc. etc....

Not to mention I found some of the secondary characters to be awful. Linda was beyond crazy and mean and it just never seemed justified to me.

I can't wait to read more of Molly's writing in the future though!

I have been a Molly fan for years. That being said I don't think I have ever read one of her books and didn't have the words to describe how I felt about it. Well this book had me speechless.

I wonder throughout this book if Molly would destroy me. She has a tendency to do this to me.

This book had mystery and had me not wanting to put it down. I wanted answers and I wanted them right then and there.

Molly knows how to write some amazing characters and very deep and complex as well. I'm just going to say I have a new book boyfriend.

Jentry!!

I don't know what more to say without giving away this book. But I am not disappointed in Molly at all.

This was such a good read. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see how this triangle ended. As I was reading a few times I screamed at Rorie and wanted to slap some sense into her, but in my heart of hearts I loved her.

Another great read by Molly McAdams. While not as good as her earlier books, still a good read. Jentry and Declan and Aurora were interesting characters to get to know. Four glittery stars!

I See you is a new adult standalone contemporary romance by Molly McAdams. I have not read any of Molly's other books, but when I heard that she was the "queen of the love triangle" and that I See you was "... one of the most memorable love triangles in fiction since Twilight" I was super pumped. I knew I had to check it out. I really enjoy a good love triangle. And here is the thing- I really liked I See You. I thought the romance was beautiful and emotional and very, very moving. And I liked the love triangle....but it was not my favorite love triangle in the world. Don't get me wrong though, overall, I See You was a very good read.

The story is told in multiple points of view and multiple timelines. The story reverts back and forth between the present and a past event that helped to shape and form the love triangle. I didn't mind the narration style at all. I found it to be an interesting way to lay out both timelines and I didn't have any problem following along. My favorite part of this story was Aurora herself. I thought she was an excellent main character and she felt completely genuine to me. And any fool could see her bond with Jentry. The love triangle in question is between two brothers- Jentry and Declan. The interesting twist in this story is that Aurora had one night with Jentry when he was a complete stranger and had no idea he was Declan's brother until he comes home much later, when she is already dating Declan. This was a take on a love triangle that felt a little bit different to me and I enjoyed that.

What I didn't love was the actual love triangle itself. It felt a little too one sided to me. I wanted a little more of an equal playing field between the guys. I like to not know initial which way the love triangle is going to end up. I liked the back and forth and internal dialogue and struggle of the main character. And sometimes I even like to start on one side of the triangle and be swayed over to the other side. (is that weird?) That being said, I still thought the story was well done, the characters were interesting and it was very well written. Plus, I See You also has one of my most hated characters of 2016 in it- the boys mother. Oh my gosh, I would not be sad if that woman met a very untimely end. She is such a witch.

Bottom line: If you are a fan of love triangles in New Adult you should definitely check out I See You by Molly McAdams. I enjoyed the story and I have heard so many amazing things about some of her other novels, like Taking Chances, that I know now I need to check them out! (and I will!) I see You was a very good book. It was not my favorite love triangle ever because it felt a bit doomed from the start, and I like a little bit more back and forth, but I still really enjoyed the romance in this one. (and I yes, I was totally on one side of the love triangle...I am not going to tell you which.)

"She was light and I was dark.
She was bliss and I was a man dying.
Need was too weak a word to describe what was coursing through me.

Because I had left part of myself with her that night, and I knew I would never be whole again until I had her. It was as if she'd forced a piece of her soul into me, and taken mine in return.

She could keep it. I didn't want it without her. -I See You, By Molly McAdams

I had to post this whole section of the book cause my heart was pounding out of my chest. The inner weavings of this book guys Holy heck. All the twists and turns and how everything comes together was wild. You have dual pov and multiple timelines, so it really keeps you invested. But once everything comes together 😭. It was everything.

The main female character is Aurora. She has one crazy night in college that changes her life forever. A stranger she meets makes it hard to ever forget him. Fast forward, almost a year later, she has met Declan, who she is head over heels for, and they are moving into an apartment together. But before she knows it, the ghost from her past shows up and complicates everything. And his name is Jentry Michael's. He is such an amazing character. His heart 😭 I can't.

Will she follow her heart or the path she thinks will be good for her in the end? Molly McAdams, I really enjoyed this story and can not wait to read more of your work. @mollysmcadams #iseeyou #mollymcadams #SmallTownRomance #lovecomplication #booksandchatswithnickib

Oh Christ! Let's be honest. Men fantasize about sex and women fantasize about being desired. This book uses the usual "caught between two men who want her" trope, but it's so over the top ridiculous that it hurts.

Let's start with the names. We have Aurora (🙄) and Declan and Jentry. 😹🙄 The names! Jentry is obviously the worst. I've never heard this particular gem before, but I wish I hadn't. Declan is overused and boring. It makes me think of fat Irish politicians. Aurora of course is our delicate dainty princess. 🙄🙄🙄 Ugh!

Aurora wants to be a *bad girl* before she graduates college. So even though *she isn't a virgin!* she decides having a one night stand with a hottie is the way to go. She bangs a guy and she can't stop thinking about him, so she goes back to the party scene looking for him, even though they both agreed to one night. She doesn't find him, but she meets hottie#2, who becomes her insta boyfriend and they move in together, except every time they f*ck, she pictures the other guy and goes crazy, so boy #2 thinks he's having the best sex ever. And oh yeah, ,#2's mom hates her, has a key to their apartment, shows up and let's herself in whenever she wants and berates Aurora about how fat and dirty and pathetic she is. Amazing that Aurora just takes it, in this apartment that she's paying for.

Then, wonder of wonders, #2 has an adopted brother that Aurora has never met and he's coming home from the military! Guess who? It's #1, the guy she can't stop thinking about. 🙄🙄 So she has slept with both brothers, continues to picture #1 when she's with #2. 🙄

Skip to the ending where everyone is now magically happy after Aurora dumps #2 for #1, marries him and is pregnant. Even evil Mom loves her now!!!

Unrealistic, unsexy and kinda gross. What kind of guy would marry a girl that he actually listened to have sex with his brother? What family would be totally accepting of her brother swapping? LMAO. Just nope.
